first for gogem yesdev extraordinaire

Should I try Cocos2d=

i wanna make a 2D map editor in unity, where basically i drag out rooms, and can then move the vertexes.

how would i handle collision on this?

nice first

polygon colliders?

>career
Ew.
Moneyfaggots out, go do webdev or some shit.

The first line is a disaster, why would I read the rest of the article.

I guess as long as you link your patreon from these 2 other site you should be fine

Not sure who this guy is writing for. Aren't like 99% of indie devs normal non-retards with day jobs that just make games in their free time for fun? I mean if someone had nothing at all and decided making games was a good way to get rich then yeah that's pretty stupid, but if you're that stupid I doubt you could make a game to begin with.

or i can tell them to go fuck themselves and threaten to remove all my products from steam in protest of their constant anti-developer practices.

Hey experienced programmer here. What 3D model is good for jumping straight in and creating simple geometric shapes. Square guys like minecraft, maybe with curvier head and more bezels. I want a 3D programme to just quickly jump in and do shit in pronto.

I guess but I dont think its in your best interest to remove your products from steam

go for it

blender? especially if you need to rig and animate too

this is the best course of action googs

i know i phrased that like i hadnt already made the threat but you realize i dont come to AGDG for advice right?

please do

I knew you had it in you dog, good job

that's not advice, that's an order

Yeah, you show 'em what you're made of!

you're using unity? that's sad

arice chikkun

>Shitting on a dev

What a horrible thing.

How do I know what my minimum specs are

You test.

Pretty much, a lot of big indie successes are made by people who were going at it for a fucking decade, building a following that spread their shit once they struck gold.
But no, today people want to sell their first game
ever even before it's finished and live off vidya money before they even get to finish school.

>But no, today people want to sell their first game
>ever even before it's finished and live off vidya money before they even get to finish school.
That's almost me.
Except I want to sell my game to buy a new bike since some cunt stole my old one.

...

Yeah, I just want to get enough for the piece of shit car I've had my eye on. The fact that Canuckbucks are basically worthless helps.

Yes gogem but I'm going to give you my advice either you. You do what you want with it.

...

Move out of your black infested neighborhood

does anybody want to give me a placeholder track for my DD demo

same as a steamjews advice on what links to have in my games credits menu, i will ignore it.

>That first pop of the day

>either you
either way, eh

How are u guys doing? Good evening!

There are more arabs or chinks than blacks in that neighborhood (which is quite nice, it's right next to the uni). He could be white, he's still a fucking cunt, my bike wasn't even worth that much.

What game ?

Hum a fucking song or something. At least that'll bring a laugh.

...

redpill me on publishers

youtube.com/watch?v=mAI5W7Y5H28

wheres the fun if you actually draw the trajectory the arrow will take? you take away all guess work and skill from the task

>protecting consumers from e-begging on games they already paid for is now being anti-developer.

oh boy.

>not doing your ost with a kazoo

No idea what could fit over that mate, sorry.

>It's right next to the uni
Or he could be black

With a decent one you can just like make game and they handle all the boring shit like marketing

>bluepilling

there is still a gradient of skill in how fast you can line up shots/if you can hit moving targets

This is supposed to be a dumb party game people can play immediately, so I don't want to force people to have that muscle memory before they can score any points at all

I'm pretty sure that Angry Birds had that trajectory visible once. Yeah, I don't see much point of it, it can be comfy but it makes the game too easy.

It might be fine if most of the gameplay was not the first target you hit but all of the combos after that.

>steam shits on devs in the interest of the consumer
yeah totally, consumers always want burgeoning monopolies to protect them from knowing about competition, that sort of "user protection" is the feature of monopolies that people love so much.

don't worry gogem you don't need those steamfags anyway, you'll carve your own way

>yeah totally, consumers always want burgeoning monopolies to protect them from knowing about competition
What the fuck does that have to do with e-begging on steam? You can release for free on itch and plenty of other places, and put whatever kind of spammy links and adds you want. On steam users pay for games and asking for money in game is a shitty thing that ruined the mobile gaming scene.

You have the kind of cancer mentality that shat all over the mobile market you delusional mong.

things that publishers do and how good they tend to be at it...
>taking your money: GREAT
>traditional box in store "publishing": very few do this anymore and there's probably no point to doing it so who knows if the ones that do are good at it or not
>active marketing: huge variance from dogshit worse than no experience diy'ing it all the way up to OK
>passive marketing (namebrand recognition): one of the few if only things they're still great at, a few hits under an umbrella is all it takes... which makes me wonder why there arent more "labels" instead of publishers

Most "publishers" know less about publishing indie games than you do. And they'll gladly fail at their job for the low low price of 50% revenue.

> can see trajectory
> have to stop/start in a time trial game

stupid

you realize i literally dont need steam right?
i have no problem going back to porndev
porndev has better margins in the first place, if i cared about money its all i would do

how much have you made this year from your porn?

When are you removing your games from steam?

Hi gogem

>tfw still following a complicated blueprint tutorial, even though I got lost in it an hour ago and don't know what is happening anymore

Who are you and why are you popular here?

>related videos
>how to survive 11 years without a hit
>guy makes nothing but match 3 games
>none of them even have an ounce of creativity

Gee I wonder why he never got a hit

not much since i havent made a new eroge in a while, ive been focusing on dev that's actually enjoyable (+bullshit of selling some of them).
i do not find eroge enjoyable to make but they're a hell of alot easier and profitable when it comes time to sell them.

lol

>Who are you
Ryan Jake Lambourn
>and why are you popular here?
i make games

>ive been focusing on dev that's actually enjoyable
You missed the mark.

>telling me what i enjoy
thats some nice abusive spouse bants you got there

I can't imagine making garbage menu simulators and barebone "games" being enjoyable. To each his own though.

...

...

whats not to love?
what exactly did you get into gamedev for if not to create systems of rules for structured play?

>porndev
There are that many people with giraffe fetishes?

This looks much smoother and still weird enough I think. Hows your Friday anons?

yes

To be honest I'd be happy with that. Getting enough money from a few just okay games, then pursuing my dream game with that money.

Also that guy did eventually make better games, I don't know if there was any big hit, but definitely better than match 3.

Is an active ragdoll system worth it for a low res fps? It's gunna take me a couple of days in unity to implement and iron out the kinks.

I just want shooting enemies to feel super juicy.

I hate devs who interpret "you probably won't have a major hit" as "make as many cheaply designed games as possible and sell them as quickly as possible, otherwise you'll STARVE".

It's good to keep scale in focus, but for fucks sake you can try to be at least a little creative.

It's worth it if you can make an enemy fly fifteen feet backwards from a point blank shotgun blast to the chest. Otherwise, it seems unnecessary.

i think it's a lotto mentality.
the analogy is supposed to mean IT'S BASICALLY IMPOSSIBLE SO DONT PIN YOUR HOPES ON IT but instead they come out with IM GOING TO REUSE THE NUMBERS OF SOME OTHER LOTTO WINNER FROM YEARS AGO REPEATEDLY UNTIL STATISTICALLY I WILL WIN
lotto players are like the gambler's fallacy but even dumber

make trajectory line a gradient, visible from the bow and decrease visibility until it reach the mid arc, you'd expect an archer to know at least half of the arrow's trajectory, if you're close then there's no point "guessing" the obvious, but if you need to arc your shot then that needs more skill

>what exactly did you get into gamedev for if not to create systems of rules for structured play?
I do more. I'm making my games enjoyable as well.

by seeing how it plays on the weakest piece of equipment you have.

this is why it's good to keep an old laptop/desktop around. I don't think VM's can simulate a low spec environment yet.

Or you could just not give a fuck about listing minimum specs and only list the optimal specs.

Sound and FX are more important than ragdolls, focus on them first. Doom doesn't have them, yet the shooting is still juicy.

6 HOURS.6 damn hours and this is what I have to show for it. Fuck, I'm a nodev through and through.
On the plus side I guess I got a little better at this.
Hows it lads ? Is it redeemable or should I start a new sprite from scratch ?
At least I can say my first sprite ever was a cyber ninja masturbating with his sword

How viable is making a fighting game in this day and age? Enough to do it if you're really passionate about it?

should have spent six hours looking up tutorials

It's bad but don't redraw it, just draw other sprites and make game then come back to it later.

>claims is a nodev
>worked hard for 6 hours
>just posted a sprite

It needs work, yes, that is a very rough sprite, but calling yourself a nodev is excessive. If you lack experience in making sprites, don't dive in to making big sprites like what you just did there, start small, like 8x8 or 16x16 small and go from there.

I think his design has potential but you have a lot to work on.

what is he doing

Playing the electric stick.

>camouflage pattern pants with a blue shirt and a bright led flashing on his head
>four fucking swords
>only one belt

This animation of a emo adult male masturbating with a stun baton is something you should be proud of, senpai.

Masturbating

I’m interested as well
