Get a slow lightweight shitbox and learn how to throw it around, then once you've done everything you can in it, move up to a more powerful car. Too many people learn how to drive with a car that's too powerful for them and they never learn how to take it to the limit of what it can do. It's not dumb either. I do agree that automatic is easier, but manual isn't no where hard, so it's not really worth getting an auto for the worse fuel economy.
