That's because ling is built around stealth when the server's players often use meta knowledge against them.
Changelings should be highly adaptable beings with abilities to go down many different paths, stealth, utility, going loud, etc and all that in between.

Hence the vampire comparison.
With Vamp you can at least branch out a little after the first couple succs, can go thrall happy, dump bats in maint and watch the unrobust die, REE in a crowded mall next to a glass pane and watch half the station slam into walls, shit like that.

Ling is literally just sting and succ until you get caught and the only interesting story or gameplay experience I've ever seen come out of it is that funeral screencap
