Rotory thread

I really like rx7 FC's but I am a pussy when it comes to the unreliability of rotory engines.
>Post pics
>Post plans if you have an RX car
Also I am asking how much it would be to rebuild engine by self. And how much it would be for a shop to do it

FUCK OFF

rotary*

...

I actually love them. Mine eat itself years ago and now sits alone in my garage an empty shell of its once fun self

Then why reply fuck off, this is a way better reply. Maybe post pics of your old ride

This is my FC, 800 bucks running and driving. lost my oil control seals in august and im rebuilding it for about 800 bucks without replacing hard seals.

I have photo photos of it not sure how I would get it digital. This was sweet.

I want a 4-port 13b from an FC or FD, just a bare block without the turbos and other shit. how much should I be paying for one? I don't want to get scammed by beaners. The block doesn't have to be pristine, I will be rebuilding it myself.

>800 bucks
not bad

also, what size wheels do you have on there?

those are 17's with 225 width falken azenis 200tw square

this is my fc, got it for like 6k cad, seller was a real nice guy desu, has some light mods making about 300 bhp. Long term goals probably include getting a bigger turbo put in, racing seats and steering wheel

>tfw no FC
>tfw posting in this thread anyway

Ew fuck off to your containment thread

Jk, nice dorito, did the sticker money pay for it?

Absolutely devilish

do it op, they aren't as high maintenance as people say.

rebuild isn't too bad anyway, just
>crack her open
>see what you need to replace
>buy those parts
don't buy a kit, you probably won't need all of it.

Tell me why I shouldn't waste what little money I have on one

>don't buy a kit, you probably won't need all of it.
fucking this

those kits are so fucking jewish

I saw a dorito of this vintage on the road, and I had to sperg out at the owner for keeping such a nice car in nice condition
>he told me it was all stock
he didn't even have to do that for me

...

...

...

ew

This any better?

...

>be kid
>auntie i never see who only lives 1 hour away has cool sports car
>white, leather interior
>tiny back seats me and my older bro easily fit in
>she gets cancer
>start to see auntie alot more due to seperation from douchebag fuckwit
>no cool car around
>"where is your car?"
>"oh darryl has it in a shed"
>"oh okay"
>get a bit older
>learn from mum/dad how much of a douche this cunt was
>super controlling germaphobe
>took all her money that she earned (whilst she has cancer btw) gambled it away
>she was always super upbeat
>cancer goes into remission
>been more than 10 years since she first got it
>ask about car
>"oh its still in the shed, darryl had it serviced last year"
>"does he want to sell it?"
>i'll ask for you
>cancer comes back
>attacks with force
>spreads everywhere
>auntie still super upbeat about beating it
>almost in denial about it
>she deteriorates fast
>she dies
>remember her as the auntie with the cool car
>was a 1989 Mazda RX-7 bought from new, non turbo (because she didn't like the look of the hood scoop lol)
>its rotting in a shed somewhere
>darryl will probably sell it for fuckall to some fuckwit so he can gamble some more

if i ever see that cunt he's getting knee capped.

My baby. A rotary general could be fun

Aye, cheers bro. Here's hopin he gets what's comin to him.

Mantego Blue, lucky man

Please, a rotary general would be amazing.
The pic is my FC leaking coolant and it being vaporized, still trying to fix my cooling issues.

You know it (not really)

You should

I did, and she has made me happier than almost everything else.

When this thread dies I might make an /rg/ rotary general to see how it does

Please do, as of 2 days ago I am the only Rotard in the Washingt/o/n group.

>When this thread dies

At about 100k miles

That's a real knee-slapper

lel

Hey, I'll have you know an NA 13b lasts 150k-200k miles before needing a rebuild.

...

it is the most fun car you will ever drive
>corners perfectly
>never loses grip
>sounds amazing
>looks amazing
>10k redline
>engine will last you a long time if you take care of it

pic related, my 8 is still running on its original engine at 118k with not a single rebuild

Go post in the new Rotary General!

>Go bring down the quality of Veeky Forums even further by feeding yet another stupid unneeded general!

Generals are fun, faggot

...

How do you care for it aside from coolant flushes/premix/oil changes/spark plugs/revving high?

Not letting it over heat is another big thing, this is why oil coolers are so important.

>yfw they made another thread and mods aren't doing shit about it.

>they're actually talking about cars, delet!

There are two threads about the proposed EU car legislation.

Ya and OPs been called out for that stupid shit too so what's your point?

Mods won't do anything about it so stop sperging.

Which is the problem with Veeky Forums and a main contributor to why so much of it is shit.

>Comes to Veeky Forums
>expects it not to be shit
>inb4 muh old Veeky Forums

>defends shit thread habbits
I guess you're getting what you deserve.

In all honestly I agree with you but I want to talk about rotaries. I have always wanted a rotary general or a Mazda general.

Im the same way. Ive been on the fence about rotaries for a while, so getting actual insight is nice. Plus the cars are just awesome.

The way I see it rotaries are great, just not in DDs 90% of the time, I love my FC but not as a DD.

>just not in DDs
pussy, I DD a bridge ported FC everywhere. 13mpg lmao

The absolute madman, I'm pretty jealous, I spend a lot of time in traffic on my comute and having cooling issues, so my FC doesn't make that journey often.

I keep throwing around the idea of picking up a rotary to play with I keep looking at mid 90s miatas but I'm open to other suggestions.

Honestly looking at it as a daily driver even with the shit mileage considering I'm currently using a 95 sierra as my DD and I get shit for gas mileage.

>mid 90s miatas
they don't have rotaries tho. You can put a rotary in one if that's what you're asking

Alright I'm just a fucking retard then I should read up on this shit more when I haven't been drinking.

yeah miatas come with 1.6 or 1.8l piston engines.

That being said its entirely possible to swap a 13b into it. It's expensive though

>It's expensive though
it's only expensive if you do it proper with the l7r kit. I can't recommend it enough though, it makes the job require no fabrication and it is just all swapping parts.

can't be more expensive than swapping in an LS

What about as a first car DD? Currently drive a sienna

>Tfw finally fixed my exhaust leak and deleted all my clogged cats.
I want to find the epa 's local headquarters and spit fire and fumes at them for the bants.
Car is also noticeably faster now so I could get away

>local jap car import guy
>owns FD with claimed 500hp
>had to replace/rebuild engine like 5 times in 2 years
>refused to import FC for someone because "not reliable"

>first car
>DD
>rotary

don't do it idiot

Friend's brother has an FD, it's pretty cool.

I love these old jap sports cars with the flip up lights
>be 16
>'88 Celica GT is first car
>every girl who sees it tells me it's cute and wants to go for a ride
>get laid
that car was the best wingman I ever could have asked for

Theyre called pop up headlamps you disgusting savage

>headlamps
they're headlights you dumb low-iq retard

here's the best thing, there was another old jap car in town with the flip up lights, so whenever we drove past each other once a month or so we always winked them at each other

We in the UK call it
>Uppity-downity cobblestone clippity clop illuminatiors

I do that in my miata. One time another miata pulled up beside me at a light and we just kept mashing that mf headlight button like gay retards

it's so fucking dumb, but also hilariously fun

might be different in your area, but where i am (in a big city), FD's (13REW) shortblock engines go for up to ~$2k. $1k for an FD engine isn't bad, and less is even better

FC engines are cheaper, go for below $1k.
Turbo engine costs around that and maybe more, NA can be had for $800 or $500 and below, possibly

>NA can be had for $800 or $500 and below, possibly
I saw a few of those for around that price as well. are they terrible or something?

>tfw there's a black RX8 for sale in my area for about $6k with like 68k miles but it's automatic
I wanted to save up for a BRZ as babby's first manual, but I'm surprised how affordable RX8s are. How do you shop for one, though? What is there to look out for?

if you can test them for basic compression or if the owner has, it might be ok

if the engine was (severely) overheated, the housings could be warped or cracked

the housings could be gouged to varying degrees if the engine ever blew a seal, so some parts may or may not be reusable

assume a rebuild is needed, if not (in any case)

So, how many years before FC prices go through the roof in Wisconsin? I think I'll have the money and space within six years, but there's no real way for me to have more than one car right now.

>$6k cad

Sorry to hear that

Aren't you the nigga that has an r32 as well?

damn my german is better than I thought

your best friend is research. when buying a used rotary you really should just plan to rebuild the engine. once you've done it the first time, you'll never not know how to do it. it's like riding a bike.
