The 3DS since its first model has a feature where the system goes into sleep mode by force if a magnetic force comes into contact with the upper half of the system. I don't remember all the details, but in recent times it was discovered that the 3DS can be forced to run whatever is in the cartridge slot if a button combination is held down...while the system is closed (in sleep) and then turned on. The magnet gets around the closed requirement by forcing sleep mode on the system when it's open, and from what I understand a DS flashcart is used as part of installing CFW on the 3DS, probably in the same vein as the DSiware exploits.

Dauntless is automatically better than any Monster Hunter game because it doesn't include Rath garbage.

Raths have never been fun to fight, and they never will be. They should either get rid of them completely, or at least make them the designated punching bag that dies in 2 minutes.

Can someone explain to me how the sleep mechanic works? Preferably w/r/t mh3u but newer ones also work

as with other statuses, your hits with a sleep weapon have a chance to apply sleep, which builds up in exactly the same manner as it does in dark souls, then triggers putting the monster to sleep
the first hit it receives while asleep is boosted significantly based on the type of hit.
also like other statuses, buildup will be reduced for subsequent sleeps

Yes. It has a different ID, attack up from the horn is different from the set skills.

Yes sweaty. They also stack on top of food skills, consumables and charm/talons. There's bunch more that I'm forgetting.
