So I nabbed Front Mission Evolved during the Steam summer sale, what am I in for?
Anthony Green
5/10 Story and 9/10 gameplay with wanzers.
Multiplayer is dead as fuck but when it was active was a blast. They really should've removed that skill that would remove all your boost energy though and not let you boost for a long time.
Ryan Perry
When you say Wanzer, you aren't referring to the DLC packs are you?
Camden Cox
No, the wanzer is what the mechs in FM are called. Also, don't purchase the DLC for a dead game.
Jaxson Campbell
I see, hopefully it's worth the 5 bucks
Xavier Russell
You'll get some enjoyment out of it.
Carson Martin
If you enjoy the universe I highly recommend FM 3, 4, and 5. 4 is my favorite.
Brandon Green
How's that Last Raven Portable patch coming along?

Only five more days until AC 20th anniversary.
Aaron Phillips
Gonna have some cool shit to show off for the 20th. I figured out how to give grenades the flaming AC effect upon impact, as well as how to change stagger so that weapons have a more noticeable stagger impact now. Right now still working on range and muzzle velocity, which is the last thing I really need to find in order to have all the "necessary" part stats found for a release.
I also figured out how to change shell weapons to energy weapons, funny enough: Ammo price and Usage Drain are the same stat, when you swap a weapon to "energy" type, it uses the same ammo price as usage drain now and just changes the label.
For the 20th I'm going to show some of this stuff off in a compilation video.
Alexander Hernandez
I'm learning how to edit videos right now, like real deal stuff.
Jaxon Taylor
what programs are you using? I've tried lightworks and it's really nonintuitive
Matthew Jackson
Hitfilm express 2017. It's free but the only way you can download it is by sharing it on a media platform that you're using it like twitter, facebook, gmail or whatever it's called. I just use the gmail one because I never use that shit for anything.
This program is the real deal though.
Ethan Cruz
Learning how to layer some filthy frank green screens onto a video at the moment.
Caleb Ortiz
Great success, I'll call that a solid days work.
Brody Moore
What's the best strategy for taking on Wanton Busker and Vola Volant? I can take out Busker, but I never have enough AP to take on the other one.
Angel Perez
Everyone told me the gameplay was awful. Was I lied to?
Logan Torres
Hide behind the dam and use orbit weapons + extension vertical missiles against Busker, then swap a linear rifle and handgun against Vola Volant.
Volant has AWFUL stability so you can stunlock him really easily with linear rifles. He also overheats really easily.
Once Busker's legs break, he becomes a sitting duck for any vertical missiles. Micro missiles also kill him super fast but they tend to cost too much ammo price to get an S rank.
Zachary Gutierrez
For free video editing software I'd recommend Blender, the modeling software. It's video editing stuff is more raw, and there's a thorough guides on youtube. I found it to be a really good alternative after using adobe for two years.
Ryan Reed
>Gonna have some cool shit to show off for the 20th. Hot dang. >I figured out how to give grenades the flaming AC effect upon impact HOT DANG Grenade rifles new meta.
I have been playing this for like five days in a row. Gonna update again next week and add some new mech parts, new guns with limited ammo and more power instead of infinite reloading, it might have a glaive, and it might have a new Horde mode that sends waves of smaller mechs in after you in a holographic city with a full mech every 10 levels or so which they showed off in youtube.com/watch?v=GXSF8n6eLJM
I've been really into the Falcon mech parts with the big jets on the back and either an SMG, rockets, and rifle or drill, gatling guns, and fist. With the SMG I like to stay away and either zoom in and empty a magazine into them or punish them for boosting toward me and then empty rockets when they exit their stun animation. With the drill it's bullfighting or emptying the gatling gun into them and timing a big lunge to the end of their stun animation and then close up punches to finish them off if I'm getting antsy.
Colton Walker
I saw good things about it before. How is the customization? Is it just weapons or can you change body parts too?
Nathaniel Anderson
Right now there's only 3 sets of body parts to choose from, your general medium, light, heavy types. Next update there's at least two more. But you got head, body, arms, and legs and the legs have weight they can support. There's also left and right hand guns or shields or swords or a hybrid of them, shoulder guns or missiles or jets, back missiles or jets, and some bonuses like more armor or bigger magazines. There's some stats like armor, stability, and a melee bonus if you stay under your max weight load or something like that. You can get up to 100% melee damage bonus if you're really minimal. You can also change the color with some preset palettes or you can choose your own color with RGB sliders or a big palette and have unique colors for different parts and guns.
There's a big ass sword that fires railgun shots, a drill that turns into a big hammer, a thick sword with a pistol on it, an SMG, a rifle, a shotgun, like four shields two of which parry and one or two tackle, an axe that turns into a scythe, etc and there's way more stuff in the files they haven't put in the game yet like a backmounted railgun and dual grenade launchers and anti-missile systems.
Xavier Baker
are you friends with the devs or just following their updates?
A mech game where the devs actually communicate their progress would be nice.
WOULD BE REAL FUCKIIN' NICE, FROM SOFT.
Adrian Clark
I'm hanging out in their Discord and following their Twitter and datamining. A new mech game that runs on my laptop? That's my new obsession.
This is one of the new mechs from their Twitter play_archangel. The other is a big knight looking thing that I'm not that into.
Elijah Sanders
Back-mounted railgun from the files.

I believe top speed is somewhere around 3000kph if you second/third stage Virtue Quickboost while using vanguard OB on a sobrero frame.
Someone should test this.

oooh, I might try this.

Ooooh, new Horde UI mockup for the final wrapup.
Caleb Wright
Does this game have a fun singleplayer? It looks really, dare I use the forbidden word, "epic".
Xavier Nelson
including stabilizers?
Parker Campbell
Only tried it without stabs.
Gavin Jackson
Is it the Freedoms rail guns?
Joseph Watson
Main boosters cut out! So that's what you were aiming for huh.
Hudson Green
Bump.
Levi Ward
I think stabilizers are a ~ 10% increase across the board to max speed (they don't have diminishing returns) so with 10 rear stabilizers you might be able to hit 3800kph.
Josiah Clark
Yeah, the singleplayer is an arcade mode which is just 1v1 duels against AI with different difficulty levels or a custom game mode which atm is only FFA or team deathmatch with up to four players, human or AI. Eventually it'll have Horde mode.

Liam Stewart
Question >We fucked up the earth, humanity might die. What do we do next?

"Pray for answer" literally just means "hope that you will figure out what to do"
Daniel Cox
I'd like to get into her nerves concord.

I remember trying to remake noblesse oblige in last raven because I couldn't yet afford a PS4 when AC4 came out, but I'd seen the trailers.
Hudson Miller
Calm down, horndogs.
Also, bump.
Gavin Hill

IIRC, the trailers for FA showed "what are you fighting for?" a couple of times, and Fiona ask that when attacking Line Ark

we're fighting to find that answer

no no, you're fighting 4(that)Answer

I recently emulated a gamecube game, "custom robo", because of childhood nostalgia, and love it, then found this. I don't have any consoles anymore. Do you guys all play on a system or do any of you emulate these?
Dylan Ramirez
Fuck yeah custom robot is the shit, I did the same thing as you about a year ago, but never beat it, I need to go back and finish it.
A lot of people emulate the PS2, PS1, and PSP games. Emulation isn't good enough for PS3/360 games, but it's easy enough to buy a used copy of them, at least in the U.S.
Eli Reed
These days, most people emulate. Since AC is mostly 3D, it upscales well.
Try PCSX2 if you have a decent PC, but if you have a toaster, the PSP ports on PPSSPP are much lower requirements.
Armored Core 3 is by far the best place to start, and it's available as both a PSP and PS2 copy. The PSP games have native netplay so you can log into the coldbird server for multiplayer, but the PS2 games are local co-op only, requiring Xlink Kai to play with others online.
You can also pick up Armored Core Verdict Day on PS3 if you want something more modern.
Angel Perez
I decided play it again after finding my physical copy of the game. But, i moved a lot and all my early consoles. Figure since I still own said game, emulating would be fine. Took all of a few minutes to get everything going once you have everything, and you can use a modern controller with the buttons remapped.
Go back and play it, there's two divisions of the game. Main one has a definitive conclusion (i.e. bad guy), and the second half are a bunch of tournaments w/ different conditions. Small word of warning though, emulation means no save data to load from (at first), so you'll be starting from scratch.
>sold PS3 because reasons; only have a PS4 now Oh well. But I'll look into those things you mentioned, thank you.
Michael Wright
I think that the PS2 AC games are vastly superior to the PS3 ones anyway.
Grayson Cooper
I just use save states since I don't feel entirely confident with dolphin's memory catd, even though I shouldn't really be afraid of it. I wish I could remember where I was, tho
Jacob Barnes
I have an original PS3, so I can play all the old PS1 games, but they don't upscale very well. I've been emulating them and they run perfectly fine on mednafen, it just took a little to figure out how to do the disc changing in MoA and how to transfer the save data between them. I also just picked up Verdict Day so my physical collection is finally complete.
Christian Bennett
Why do you think they're superior? I haven't played many PS2 era ACs, so I'd like to know the reasons of someone more qualified.
Parker Taylor
Is there really no lock-on that lets you strafe around an enemy in AC3 Portable like in 4 Answer? This is really clunky coming from 4A and any later FromSoft game.
Ayden Sanders
Anyone got Armored Core MIDIs or something? Google just wants to show me 2 songs and I'd like to study some more and figure out what makes the military sound in music.
William Torres
...
Jayden Powell
Yeah, the pre 4th gen AC games don't have a hard lock on so you have to control your movement and camera at the same time.
Eli Sanders
AC4 and ACV really messed with the formula and lost a lot of the unique sense of progression by making it more or less just a reaction shooter or RPS. ACV/VD redeems itself through multiplayer, and AC4/FA redeems itself through visuals and characters, but neither really capitalized on the customization, character immersion, and sense of achievement that I get from the PS2 games.
It's mostly because the later games don't really have well-thought-out missions ore arenas that require changing your AC up more, and they remove the cash penalty of failing a mission.
customizing the controls is part of the game
Wait, there was hard lock on in 4th and 5th gen? Or is it one of those "aim assist" options?
Jaxson Williams
whoops, meant to quote
Matthew Watson
Ironically, coming from a background of pre-4 AC, the addition of the aim assist took some getting used to for me. I found myself struggling againt the aim assist for control of the camera from time to time, especially when the battle got heated up, i.e. "all weapon buttons pressed down at once, palms sweating as fuck and frantically jabbing at both control sticks to get maximum aim and evasion" hot.
Samuel Gutierrez
For me it was >"wtf is this bullshit?" >disable >game plays much better now
I think that they added those features to AC4 to make it easier to play using the default AC control scheme, which was intended more for ground-based close range stuff instead of the long range aerial fighting in AC4.
Charles Cook
*default AC1 control scheme

i think this is all the G:A fanart there is
