I don't understand much about traps mechanics, but I guess shield breaker -> people use shield less -> damage dealer becomes more prominent? I thought traps bypasses shield from the beginning, or did I mix up with poison?

Only poison and the slow trap pass through shields. Even if people have shields, traps are strong because you either don't know where they are or don't have a shield to protect yourself against them and can't advance as a result. I've been hit with a stun trap on more than one occasion whilst a Tesla captures the C point right in front of me.
