I always thought the previous generation of Volvos were extremely comfy, they're back-lit but also illuminated by two LEDs from the top which sort of casts shadows from the different protrusions and shapes. It's hard to describe and I can't find a real good picture of it, but they're extremely pleasing to look at.

Lacking in functionality a bit, but it's a modern Volvo so meh

Here's a different pic, doesn't quite capture it either unfortunately. It's something about the shadows and the fact that it's not just a backlight.

The VFD glow in these is 10/10 comfy at night

it also has both gauges in the dash, not one in front and the other under the trunk.

You should apologize for that blue, not the picture.

Wrong, the first gen focus had an option to pull up a tach instead of a trip meter, however you had to scroll through menus every time you started the car and reset your trip meter.

Look up diffusion plastic, get a slab about 2mm thick and cut parts that'll fit behind the speedo.
It'll spread the light from the LED all around the plastic making it nice and even.

Okay, I'll look in to it, I'll probably test some on my extra FC cluster. I have been considering going back to traditional bulbs for the gagues and leaving LEDs on the turn signals, shift light, and high beams light.
