but muh healthcare

But you get delicious Dutch amazon women

Send me a 6'3 (190cm) qt gf pls

>starting at 48k euro

desu I don't live there anymore, but my father was looking into buying a Stinger.
I get the same quality of healthcare in Canada.

What's the purpose of that tax?

it's an emissions tax
also
>korean ""engineering""

Dissuading people from buying cars to reduce congestion, need for building space and emissions.
They can't forbid you from buying one so instead they'll tax it to death until any car that isn't a city shitbox becomes a luxury item.
Welcome to Europe. Enjoyt your stay. I know I'm not.

Norway reporting in:
Base model Stinger GT, 107.000 euros

you have misscalculated by one zero brosef

That says more about euroland than it does about kia

The transportation minister (or whatever her title is - of course a woman) for my city says exactly the same thing.

What she won't explain is why we need to double the population by importing the 3rd world when we already know the roads can't handle it. It seems like a dumb decision to make intentionally. Oh that's right: she worships the almighty shekel.

It's a progressive tax on luxury models.
A large population of Dutch people can afford cars like this, so they get tax'd.

You can literally get a simple 10k shitbox that's nice easily in the Netherlands, basically tax-free.

I don't agree with how extreme it is, because it affects car enthusiasts in general, it's ridiculous, they should tax based on income not per car.

why do people talk always about "europe" when the topic is clearly the netherlands - the taxing system is very different from country to country

>tfw no stinger

>taxing cars based on income
retard

>VAT
>very high taxes across the board
>smug Europeans
It’s all the same desu

Because this sort of taxation scheme is not exclusive to the Netherland at all. More and more countries within the EU have set up some "emissions based" taxes to give better incentives to buy electrics, along with batshit industrial plans to end ICE production (by 2030 in France and I believe I've seen Germany planned on doing it by 2025 which sounds absolutely insane and nearly impossible considering the variety and size of the german industry)
>because it affects car enthusiasts in general
But user, being a car enthusiast means you're a selfish bourgeois who basically murders polar bears for funs, didn't you get the memo? The hobby is about to become obsolete too so make way for the future gramps :^))))
>tfw cars made before 2000 are now banned in Paris and other cities are looking into adopting the regulation as well

So what are taxes for? I they to force people into obedience or are they to fund something needed by the thing that is being taxed?

I thought Europeans were all smart and advanced and stuff.

because people love to shill /pol/ ideologies whenever they can.
see how they quickly made it about race too? in one of the whitest countries on earth?

>doesn't have the imagination to think that maybe we should modify road tax based on income and vehicle ownership*miles driven.

You earn a shitton tho.

I wonder how much emissions tax an old v8 american truck with no catalytic converter would be

Isn't income already being taxed? Why tax it again?

Work vehicle, no tax.

It's a fiscal one. Only.

>reduce car tax
>increase income tax
you brainlet.

Now that's what I like to hear

BPM? None

No, I mean what does that tax actually pay for? I assume there is already a sales tax or an income tax or something like that for the government slush fund, and so that would naturally apply to a car just as it would to a pencil or a guitar.

So why put an extra tax on the car? What does the car cost to the state that more taxes are needed? Or do pencils and guitars also carry special taxes that apply only to people who use pencils or guitars?

The lack of freedom in these places is staggering. Honestly curious- do you have to get up 20 mins earlier and bend over every morning so the government can fuck your ass before going to work?

I can't even comprehend why idiot millennials want to live like this in the United States. I'd rather endure 3 hours of traffic every day than have to pay six figures for a fucking Kia Stinger. I'd rather die at 65 than be forced to buy health insurance when I'm fucking 21 to finance some fatass on 12 kinds of medication.

Can Europe just fuck off?

you're wrong
it's based on emissions
dutch user could buy a 100,000€ Range Rover and he only pays 6,000€ BPM tax instead of 50,000€
BTW is VAT/sales Tax

>What does the car cost to the state that more taxes are needed?
The car doesn't cost anything to the state, but money is needed anyway.

Needed for what? What's the social benefit of taxing people who buy fancy cars as opposed to just taxing income or whatever? What does it pay for?

>The lack of freedom in these places is staggering.
Do you want to know all the hoops we have to jump through to do an engine swap?
In Frogistan, you ned to completely re-register you car all over again once you're done (which of course costs some "processing fees").

>Needed for what? What does it pay for?
For the massive public service sector, healthcare, public education, all the nice stuff that justifies high taxation rates. You've got to understand, taxation isn't directly injected into anything, it's proceeded then redistributed. Your car tax will not go into anything related to cars in any way (aside from taxes raised locally on a municipal level, these do not let the area)
Plus, taxing "fancy" anything (depending on where you are) can be quite a popular thing to do as it's seen as an attack on the extremely rich. And they are not even the ones getting hit the most as they get themselves another fiscal residence to get lower taxes anyway.

>europoors

Seriously just move to fuckin America already. You could do an engine swap here and not even tell anybody. You probably could get away with not even paying higher insurance since the companies almost never do post accident inspections and wouldn't know the difference anyways.

Half my friends drive shit that doesn't even have catalytic converts on them because the inspection stations are run by private companies (usually) and the know people there who just clear them regardless or slide them a $50.

>so poor that they can afford this

Even further some states don't even have inspections at all

Actually they can't, that's why fucking nobody buys them in Europe, while I see at minimum 5 to 10 mustangs a day just going from 17 miles from home to work.

Only the small progressive shitholes have retarded taxes like that. Theyre like 45k yuro everywhere else in yurop

t. american who has never gone.

we have BMWs to replace shitstangs.

>buying new

Oh yeah I love cars that become worthless and unfixable unless you pay thousands of dollars after five years, and also look lame as fuck
The only reason europe doesnt have more stangs is because of the idiotic taxes on american cars

Yeah because BMWs totally are exciting to drive right?
Nobody says "if you want cheap performance get a BMW" lmao.

>The car doesn't cost anything to the state, but money is needed anyway.
This is why we can never have a normal debate about car costs.
Now tell me, do roads build themselves? Do they maintain themselves? Do they renew themselves?
Is the land a parking place takes up free and endless?
Those are all very big 'NO's. And with some of the highest quality of road-infrastructure in the world, it costs a lot to maintain.
Now as to why tax any car with decent power to the hill?
That's the progressive taxation mindset that's rooted deep into our culture. It's been evolving over time but like any policy in the Netherlands, nothing can change too drastically so this one is neither.
The idea is that for specific user groups there are specific car-categories. Within that category cars are compared on weight, emissions, power (road-damaging capacity). Cars that are best within their group (so least power is best), get the lowest tax, and cars that are less efficient get taxed higher. See for a vehicle that performs relatively well in their group and is taxed lower than a car that performs terrible and is therefor taxed heavily.
The notion that more power is better is a very big no-no for any policy maker. Technically there is never-ever-not-in-a-million-years a reason to have more than the base level of power, since all infrastructure is based upon those numbers. Having more power is 100% luxury-without-function with the downside of having a higher co2 emission.
The problem to me is that co2 emissions are assumed on a cars average lifetime with a set number of kms. Somebody who only drives a powerful car very limited still pays a shitload on buying taxes, while somebody who drives their average shitbox to the moon and back pays only average.
Also: to amricans; The Netherlands is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, with very highly populated countries surrounding it so emissions are quite a big problem.

>power
>emissions
>damaging the roads
Sorry I know my valve guide seals are shot so it belches blue smoke every time I have to take off from a government red light or stop sign. This is absolute hell on the roads.

And I forgot about the part where the car is pounding all 200HP of hell into the roads even when its parked for all but maybe 30 minutes a week. I have to get it winched out of the sinkhole when I need to use it. It would really save me on winch costs if it were only 100HP.

Please nuke us.

Whether or not your insane taxes are justified (hint- they aren't) we should all agree that it would still suck ass to live in these countries.

Also if the population density is so high why on earth would you import 3rd worlders? Am I missing something here? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong country?

CO2 has no effect on air quality, especially in a flat land where wind power is viable. All it does is increase crop yield.

You would want to tax something else if you care about air quality.

holland YES

Go buy a tesla you rich norgecuck like everyone else in your country. Even a 1L golf shitbox is 50k usd in norway

>why on earth would you import 3rd worlders
cheap workers
that's literally the only reason they got here. The companies don't have to pay minimum wage, because refugees don't count as europeans people so are not affected by the laws regarding work related payments from the companies

Yep now it all makes sense. Ironic how they refuse to work.

Tech companies are pushing for the same thing in the United States- guess what the reason is.

in europe BMW is literally cheap performance lmao niggers use your brain for once

>Ironic how they refuse to work
well would you want to work for 80ct an hour, and don't even get to keep your job for longer than 6 months?
don't really blame them, if you could get free money, why would you work for less money than you would get for just being on holiday in an european country?

Under 400hp
over 30k
generic sedan style body
premium German brand

>cheap performance

un-ironically thinking BMW is cheap performance. KYS

I'm not really in favor of these enormous high taxes and i would love it if they weren't there but they're not ruining my life. Netherlands is a pretty nice place to live it's just expensive as fuck. And there's just a very realistic realization about the limits of available resources, both financial and natural, and what you want to do with it. And it's a half-socialist country so everybody has the right to use some of the resources but as soon as somebody oversteps he's going to get taxed to death. And i'm not the biggest fan of that and would definitely vote to decrease that. But i get where it comes from and i get why it's still here.
You sound like somebody who hasn't seen US roads vs european roads.
Also: you know those people who leave trash at the side of the road because 'why care, free country right?'. You are one of them. I don't hate you. I know you think you're an outlaw because of it. I know you'll grow over it. And a few people being this irresponsible and arrogant for a few years is not a huge problem.
there's a huge correlation between these countries where owning fast cars is extremely taxed and how happy the people are. If anything you should want to live here. (although i'm pretty sure there's no causal relation. just correlation)
My biggest worry in life is that i have to make do with not the fastest engine in the lineup.
Also: the import of 3rd worlders is an economic necessity. Even highly populated, the economy needs to grow. More people are needed for that. At least in the short-foreseeable future. Without immigrants there would be a population decline.
>climate denialist.
Not gonna start that debate but particulate matter (although indeed a different thing) is noticeable very locally and a huge problem.

>The companies don't have to pay minimum wage
Utter and complete bullshit. Companies who'd abuse the imported 3rd worlders/refugees would face slavery prosecution. There's some tricks to get 2nd world people from eastern europe to do work for wages below north/western minimum wage but those loopholes are being closed. (as long as people keep voting for EU)

>>tfw cars made before 2000 are now banned in Paris and other cities are looking into adopting the regulation as well
is this real?

Fuck France lol

Wait. We went seamlessly from 'they tuk oour Jorbs!' to 'too lazy to work'? This isn't /pol/ right?

I don't leave trash by the side of the road. Roads are very important and an entirely valid use of taxes. In fact, I roads are such a public utility that I believe public road maintenance should come in large part out of general funding. If the trucking industry or something demonstrably causes disproportionate damage then we can go on to discus whether or not they are ultimately paying their fair share through the extent of the taxed trade and/or income that they are involved in facilitating.

As for calling me a holocaust denier, please don't try to act as if you're being in the least bit scientific when it comes to the climate or air quality when you're doing that. Particulate matter, I agree, is a more realistic objective than CO2 when it comes to targeting air quality.

proofs?

Yup. Can't drive them in Paris intra-muros (meaning the core of the city, this does not apply [yet?] to the large surrounding urban area) during the week, which annoyed the classics enthusiasts quite a lot.
Main argument was that older cars pollute more and banning them would therefore reduce emissions and increase air quality as well as reduce the risk of smog.
At this point I wouldn't even be surprised if we'd soon end up with gradual taxation according to the age of the car, as it already exists in Japan.
Fuck that wouldn't even be the first time we get buttraped over a former incentive
>it's the 80s, the big french carmakers start to build more and more diesel vehicles
>gov. offers tax break on purchase of a diesel engine
>cue to 2016
>turns out diesels pollute too
>plan to bring in additionnal taxation on registered diesel engines
K I L L M E

>climate denialist.
Lol, just start nuclear war and get nuclear winter = colder atmosphere since most of Sun energy got blocked away.
Simple and effective. Most of the people also dies so less emission overall.

like i said. Not going to do the climate debate. Hope your 'holocaust denier' was some weird autocorrect or something because i did not call you that.
Glad you agree that what comes out of any exhaust influences your surroundings.
Let me give you a little wear and tear lecture.
Two factors cause road deterioration. Time and Loading. Time is just a factor (together with weather) that you can't control but need to take into account when calculating the rate of deterioration. A perfect road can withstand quite a lot. Over time vertical loads (weight) keep pounding the material. Combined with horizontal loads (power) this will cause small grains to come lose. As soon as there is a small imperfection both horizontal and vertical loads on the adjacent grains double. This will therefore also come lose. The pothole is growing.
As you can see, both power and weight are proportional to the rate of deterioration. Then there's another thing. Steered vs fixed axles. When there's multiple axles on a turning pole, they follow different trajectories. depending on the weight and the turning radius they not only put a load on the surface, they actually scrape the surface. This causes much high wear than just loading it. Also on the tires and it cost a little bit of the vehicles energy. In Europe it's very common for trucks to make sure most axles are steered. Even on trailers. In the US they don't bother.
In the Netherlands you are taxed to your road-damaging potential. (with some nonlinear shit about emissions as discussed earlier). It seems fair that everybody pays for what they use. (as a starting point. the system has weaknesses)
In the US apparently not. Everybody, regardless of how much you use them, should pay for the roads.

I leave trash on the road for job creation. What else are spics and felonious negros going to do?

I can't really prove a practice (using refugees as slaves in Europe) that doesn't exist, now can i?
But there's this media outcry: (slavery outside the EU, not in any way related to EU or its companies). And as you see, they are labeled slaves. And their traffickers/owners as utter criminals.
edition.cnn.com/videos/world/2017/11/13/libya-migrant-slave-auction-lon-orig-md-ejk.cnn

If you cal me a "denier" then you are calling me a Holocaust denier. That's where that terminology comes from.

Well i didn't see the link until you did but... there's loads of evidence for both, it's a widely accepted 'fact' for 97% of the scientific community. And there are those who do not 'take a word for it' and need overwhelming evidence. Where as for both that is very difficult because the holocaust is not happening anymore so you can't 'see for yourself'. And climate change, the causes, and the human influence, are all way too big in size and small and gradual in measurements to 'see for yourself'. Now i'm not going into the specifics of either one and wouldn't link the two as somebody who denies climate change must also deny the holocaust. That's just unfair. It's two completely different subjects. but the 'logic' behind it is similar. And not inherently wrong, as long as it's not motivated by flawed incentives.

Science isn't about accepting facts but rather the Socratic methodology of doubting the accumulated evidence. Or at least it used to be before it turned into industry based on funding, i.e. motivation by flawed incentives.

None of which has anything to do with environmentalism.

Swede here, GT is 52000 euro

over 30k isnt that much you poor amerilard

how the fug did you get the h1b
t. UKfag

He took a vacation to China and paid 3 shekels for a fake ID.

they thought he was a waffle

Just don't be a retard and you'll have no problem finding a company to sponsor a visa, especially in a field like tech.

I got recruited straight out of college so I never really had to apply for anything myself, but that's what I'm hearing from colleagues.

then how do turks afford mercedes or other luxury brand. i'm pretty sure ((they)) achieved whatever they wanted in europe already.

>implying they "afford" it
You could say they "earn" them, yes. But they don't "afford" them.

By spending literally all of their money on it. You too can "afford" a newish Mercedes if you're fine with living with 15 other people in a slum apartment.

BASED

In holland the v8 costs about the same but your average income is higher, so don't complain

arnt Korean cars pretty much non-existent in Nippon?

>quality healthcare in Canada
Funny joke mate. Only waited 7 hours with a broken foot before I got any pain killers

You could have downed a bottle of cough syrup during that time. DXM lasts 6 hours like clockwork.
