No, GW did that in 8th edition. Delves stopped worshipping Slaanesh and started being devoured by him postmortem. And High Elven waystones began to double as soulstones, because all of the people who wrote the fluff for 8th ed WHFB were 40k gamers first and foremost.

Same reason why White Lions are some of my favourite High Elves. You so rarely see Elves weilding axes, despite even in LOTR Tolkien mentioning that certain Elven subraces(can't remember which ones, I think it was the Sindar or it might have been the Falathrim(sp?) prefferred axes to swords.
