Fucking expensive to drive in Canada where gas costs twice what it does for you guys

Not hip to your flannel politics, why is gas so much more over there?

We got cucked. Since our economy is based on oil, and oil is low... Well, when oil prices spiked a few years back, we were paying 6 bucks a gallon or more for gas. Now that the prices have dropped, it's sort of stayed at that price, which fucking sucks. Gas companies make a fucking killing here.

its a long complicated economics lesson but the gist of it is:

because Americans buy so much gas, Canada has to bid higher on the gas the refinery's make just to get enough for our country (even from refinery's on our own soil). This results in higher gas prices for us at the best of times and SUPER high prices anytime US refinery's get interrupted (like hurricanes)

Don't mean to shill anything, but I track my mileage with fuelly.com. Started doing it after finding the site through /dbt/ a year ago. Its neat.

My daily driver is a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee (AWD with the 5.2 beast)
EPA ratings: 14 city / 19 highway / 16 combined
Long term actual mileage 12mpg~ Sometimes I get up to 17-18 on the highway when cruising at a steady 60. Engine has 198k miles on it, rebuilt around 30k miles ago.
Live in MN, out west of the metro, but I drive up north innawoods frequently to go shooting.

I adore the look of those cars

But that economy is frightening

Are they reliable?

>2013 focus st

The engine in my Jeep is the only part of it that hasn't had issues. The suspension needed work a while ago, the dash cluster shorted out, the AC died twice, the built in alarm system when haywire, and I could only enter it through the passenger door for a month. I didn't take particularly good care of it. I got it when I was young, didn't know anything about vehicles, and I was driving way too fast down rough forest roads. Still my summation would be that the 5.2L engine was okay, overall vehicle quality is meh. Interior was super comfy in my Laredo trim though.

americans are literally cucking canada God bless the US of A

>Are they reliable?

2 main problems. Their brake systems use a technology that is prone to rust and seize if not taken care of and if you dont keep the oil topped up perfectly you can destroy the engine. even if you are only down by a quart.

and China is cucking us all. I wouldn't put your head too high up there m8.

That's why we need the God Emperor.

That NEDC is so fucking retarded when it comes to newer cars. Hybrids as seen have a fuel consumption only possible if you pedal with your feet. Even non hybrid cars are ridiculous. A buddy of mine has a 2016 megane station diesel that supposedly gets 3,8L/100km, but gets roughly 5,8L/100km

Tell him to get his DPF removed and a regen delete, stop start traffic makes DPF diesels go into regen all the time and murders their fuel consumption.

Not sure why the rating is so bad.

Yeah senpai gotchu but he regularly takes 200+km trips, it's his company car (salesman). He also had it hooked up to a scanner and the car does complete its regen cycles. The NEDC is just beyond shit for newer cars.

I mean, come the fuck on, a 330d/335d with a couple of mods gets better fuel economy while being fuckloads more fun. Also,

You may be thinking of the later 4.7s. the 4.0 and the la engine 5.2 and 5.9 is pretty robust. You should be frequent with our changes in any engine, but the old Mopar pushrods are pretty beefy.

Fairmont needs a carb

Mechanically, yes, only the 0331 heads on 4.0's, and the 3.7/4.7 throw rocker arms and sludge issues are real problems.

Everything else about a ZJ is trash. Expect none of the electronics to work. If you park it on a curb you cant open the hatch. Expect the rear axle to whine (44a) or snap shafts the second you put a bigger tire on it (35). Look for motor mount bolts breaking off inside the block (4.0), also fan clutch and power steering pump pullies that fit are made out of unobtanium (5.2). It's the cheapest solid axle 4x4 for a reason.

WJ and XJ quality is much superior, though the later XJ's (97+) might suffer from the unibody flex too.
