Mercedes vs Audi

So I posted the other day about Audi vs BMW vs Mercedes.

I am looking at the Audi S5 Sportback as my main option.

Some of you said Mercedes are better and my father who was a mechanic for 45 years said Mercedes are better even though he's owned BMW's his whole life.

I don't know too much about Mercedes and they have a shit load of models so what would be a good Mercedes in the $75,000 USD price range. ($100k AUD if any of you are Aussies)

I'm looking for a 4 door but don't want a huge car. Fast 0-100km/h (60mp/h) but I won't be racing on a track. Daily driving with 1-2 1000km each way trips per year. Good power for highway drivining.

That doesn't make any sense. Audi and VW are literally the same engines.

If you intend to keep the car for over 10 years and put a ton of miles on it, Mercedes are the best cars, especially diesel ones.

Idk dude. It's pretty old too so I have no idea if it's even accurate today.

It's either keep it 10 years or trade it in at 6, which is when all these cars start to have problems. (Have a mechanic mate who's an Audi specialist and very knowledgeable on BMW's but doesn't work on Mercedes)

Legitimate question: what would an equaly equipped e class cost in Germany? I know they have lower equipped models for some markets like the diesel g wagon in Germany.
