If you've ever worked on a car that wasn't a piece of crap you would know why proper wheel retention is important.

If you can't do your wheels nuts up "tight enough to never come undone" without a torque wrench you probably shouldn't touch a spanner.

A torque wrench is to prevent going too tight.

I may have been in a hurry and used a breaker bar once.

I didn't used to torque until I read about it possibly causing warped rotors from the raybestos site.
I usually just give it an even tug with a breaker bar or tire iron

But breaker bars aren't ideal anyway because you're more likely to tilt off axis and ruin the thread more because you were bending the stud than because it was too tight.

A wheel brace is forever and always the best tool for the job.
