Tfw it's 25 degrees outside and I have to replace my cars starter.

I changed my brakes with -16 degrees outside, stop whining and grow a pair you fucking faggot

ikr. it's 50 in vegas. fucking freezing. i love cold tho

I bet you didn't have to lay on your back wrestling the brakes from underneath your car tho.

bundle up bitch boy
buy a space heater and keep your hands warm

yes I did, because I also changed the oil and oil filter

best advice would be lay down plenty of cardboard
you're gonna be uncomfortable, no getting away from it really

Close your garage door and get a propane heater faggot

>mfw I cleaned my car in 0 degree weather and it just became just as dirty the next day
there are many things I like about winter and this is not one of them

Garage is shared with my 3 roommates and is full of engine hoist, stand, snowmobile, motorcycle, and two spare engines. This is gonna happen on my icy driveway

take it from a guy who worked construction in the new england area during the winter months
pic related is a life safer

I have two little bitch ones. Will they do much if I'm just out in the open?

if you point them directly at you, or maybe set them up so they heat the underside of the car while you're under it

In the amount of time you took writing this blog post you could have been done already.

If you're that scured, pour gasoline on the ground and light it on fire to warm it up before you roll the car over and lay on it.

this is /b/ tier posting

Get one of these. Best thing ever if you work outside in the cold.

i used to work on cars outside in -20c at my old job, even at home now i work on the ground in that cold. i have to run new brake lines in my wifes car, 5 hour job in -10c coming up

just get something to lay on and insulated coveralls, youre fine

Jokes on you, from the time wasted in here it's gone from 25 to 26 out

probably one of the best investments you'll ever make next to a cordless impact

fucking rekt

Okay guys I'm bundled like it's the artic, if you don't hear from me in the next half hour I've probably died.

And this isn't my first experience. Last winter I dropped the transmission oil pan on my Subaru while it was about 0 and that jobwas fucking awful and messy and didn't fix the issue. I'm blaming PTSD here.

What's the battery life like?

I have the 12V one and get ~6 hours out of it on low.

Low is plenty for me to feel toasty.

With actual good clothing you shouldn't need anything like that

Thick knee pads help a lot if you've gotta be on your knees, and just a normal 2KW heater next to you will help a lot

I have a big old raggy carpet that I can throw under my truck if I ever have to work on it outside during winter. With my normal winter clothing I can lie on that carpet for quite long periods

I believe in you, user

I would like to change this thread from me bitching about this job to general winter O things.

That jacket looks damn cozy too

So the starter box looks like this

So 25 out isn't actually too bad. Sorry O

What car is te starter being replaced on? Kind of curious to know how fucked you are.

1986 mr2. It's in a pretty awkward spot.

It's shitty cold down here in Houston with all this rain, might even get snow

Those things are amazing for new years cook outs, ran roast marshmallows and cook hotdogs with them

>With actual good clothing you shouldn't need anything like that

Yes it's a luxury.

This week's high is 19 degrees where I live.

Just bump start it until it warms up outside, then change it.

Even still; electric clothes are waaaay heavier, they usually dont insulate too well as they're only meant to be used with the heat on, they're expensive and then you have the fact that normal clothes won't turn to shit just because a wire has broken or the battery broke and the replacement is nearly the price of a new jacket

Wool on the inside, thin fleece ontop of that and a thin shell jacket is plenty for most. You can wear netting as the innermost layer and a thicker jacket if needed

Same kinda applies to the legs. Netting, wool and thick outside pants works fine for most of the time. In the coldest temperatures I might even wear a pair of sweatpants ontop of the wool

Fucking Pussy

youtu.be/v5NicZ6aNpM

get some hard liquor in you and you won't notice shit.

It actually still works, it's just not disengaging after starting for a while.

Nut up pussy i just got back from an hour long ride and its 30 outside

I bought a motorcycle in Helena and rode it to Bozeman, it was 28 and snowing on the pass and so horrible.

Its definitley miserable without proper winter gear, my feet and legs were numb after. i need to invest in my bottom half...

It's always my hands. I only have perforated leather gloves and wore some mechanics gloves underneath and it was not enough.

take it to a shop and pay 25 bucks?

NEVER

ALSO, update. I got it out.

It is definitely not gonna be anywhere close to $25 at any real shop, unless it's your brother's friend's cousin's uncle down the street working out of his garage.

Goddamit O, spent 30 mins trying to get new one to fit.

It's for an 88 and mines an 86

lol yeah thats actually pretty shit, people here probably won't understand why

side note being: why the fuck are you driving your AW11 in the winter? stored mine a month ago.

They don't salt out here and it's my only vehicle

I once changed my radiator in 0 degree F weather... you'll be fine.

I have survived, I have the wrong part though and don't know what to do now.

what's a garage?

Either roll start the bitch from now on, bite the bullet and take it to the mechanic, or head on down to O'Reillys/Autozone/wherever and buy the correct part.

I could've told you it wouldn't fit from the pic you posted.

>My dad could beat up your dad

I noticed it was a bit different, but it's mainly just the flange holding me up

None have it in stock.

Take the old one motor from the housing, stick the new motor in it.

Can I just do that?

lol you're fucked

Get a cheapo yoga mat or foam sleeping pad, wear a hat. You'll warm up once you drop your 10mm down into the flywheel housing

You consider 50°F cold?

Looks like they didn't change that part of it.

>Two feet of snow on the ground
>starter goes out on my truck
>I put a coat on and shovel a hole for me to underneath my truck
I have a set of testicles so I just get it done. What else can I do? I'm not going to push start it in two feet of snow....

Adhere body warmers to body.
Adhere foot warmers to socks.
Adhere toe warmers to gloves.

Base layer, long johns, t-shirt, sweater, jacket.
Base layer (legs), long johns, pants.
5 pairs of socks, boots.
Face cover, hat.

>I have a set of testicles so I just get it done.

>being a bitch boy and insulating yourself with snow.
>not clearing the snow from a 10ft radius all around truck
>taking a seat and drinking a cold beer to cool down from all that de-snowing
>and doing the job in shorts and a tank top

25°C degrees si pretty hot ! good luck user drink a lot

Mfw it's 20 degrees Celsius

>the virgin cough vs the chad pneumonia

Are you taking English lessons from Trump? Your rant makes no sense

Wew lad I'm glad I'm down here in Phoenix where it's a warmer 57

>Mfw I changed cars in -15F

I mean come on OP, man up.

What did you change the car into?

Leave everything and move to a warmer place.

>replacing the starter on my au a few days ago
>imfamously awful top bolt; real bitch to get undone
>Oh look, a fucking rainstorm
>soaked to the bone through multiple layers, waster everywhere, hands numb and unable to hold them steady without focusing
>ducking water makes everything slippery

Was fun though. Really felt cool braving the elements to make my car work again. Got sick of the "lol, just park it in tourney garage dumbass!" Messages normie friends gave me when they found out what I was doing with my day. My garage isn't unsuitable for a few reasons, like my roommates expensive cars shoved in it.

I made a 3k civic into a Corvette

An Veeky Forumstist dream really.

You think it'd be an AW11 but your all lying to yourselves.
