Entire story of David is interesting, heck a lot of the chapters are just as interesting but few people ever get that far. Bible is like Jojo's, the story of incredible people throughout time. Saints, Prophets, and Jesus as they go on various adventures and save people. Don't start at Genesis, get some recommendations where to start.

Idea that it gets soft later on is a meme, New Testament is just as fun. Story of Jesus and the Apostles is pretty wild. I think people usually get a certain idea about who Jesus was from pop culture, but he had a lot of personality.
