Fresh engine build

>fresh engine build
>set approximate ignition timing
>loosen mechanical fuel pump
>pump it by hand till the carburettor bowls are full
>pump the throttle till the pump jets are going
>turn key
>fires instantly

Anyone else know this feel?

Not that exactly.. but similar when you program blindly for an hour and it compiles and runs how you expect. Feels on top of the world man

>not just cranking it for 10 seconds to fill the carb

>the virgin prime vs the chad dry run
I'm sure that would have helped bed in my new cam......

Your camshaft uses gasoline for lubricant?

Gotta get it up to >2krpm ASAP for steady oil pressure, won't make any oil pressure cranking on the starter but cam still spins round and opens the valves just the same! So you end up grinding it into the ground if you crank too long.

Or manually prime the cam.

Doesn't rebuild oil serve the purpose of first startup lubrication?

Not yet I don’t.
But motherfucker, JMB willing I will.

>not pre lubing your cam
Rip your engine

>No oil pressure under 2k RPM
I think you have bigger problems.

>Gotta get it up to >2krpm ASAP for steady oil

Yes I am sure your journals are full of oil, primed and ready just waiting for that instant lubrication

>armchair mechanics who have never run in a cam

Now apologise.....

Lol one time I spent a four days diagnosing a crank-no start only to discover that I had stuffed paper towels down the intake manifold to keep bolts and shit from falling in when I had the head off, mfs had jammed the valves open lmao kill me

How do you forget something like that?

Just put lube on the cam beforehand jesus

>just disregard what every cam grinder tells you
>trust me, I'm from Veeky Forums

I probably wouldn't have if I wasn't rushing Sunday night to get the car ready for Monday. The first crank slurped them right into the valves, didn't bend thank god because non-interference but nevertheless embarassing

yes, and it is a very, very good feel.

nigga i just put my motor back together and it makes almost 40psi at idle

Pour the gas directly in the bowls you fucking moron

I clearly stated in the OP that I loosened the fuel pump and primed it by hand, there's nothing moronic about that.

easier to just pour it in damnit

No, it really isn't.
