How you doing, /agdg/?
Still making progress?

How many failed projects do you have? How many is it?

No progress, trying on a new pair of striped programming socks.

show pls

Good morning, my programmer friends.
I hope you're all well today.

Some progress here.

These jap high schoolers just made game.
why can't you?

>unity

>can't stop deving.
>because I'm avoiding the rest of the stuff

All of them

Still learning about basic game programming mechanics. I can now implement a state stack, an inheritance based entity system and some other stuff. Currently I'm reading up on simple GUI hierarchies so I can implement an okay menu. Next are shaders and basic OpenGL, after then sound and music, then finally networking.
Made some animated sprites yesterday that just walk around the screen randomly. SFML makes learning the concepts alot easier.

what's the best AI gf or a game that has a lot of gf-related roleplay? surely someone must have made an attempt at making an AI gf even if it's not as good as a human gf

1 but i failed it several times with another on the way

post the game you weeb

15th for programming socks

good job lad, keep it up

There was someone here that was making a VR waifu simulator, not sure what happened to that since I haven't seen them posting lately.

All of them but I'm improving. Im getting a better grasp on code logic even though I can't always figure out what I'm supposed to type or function to call. Im going make it.

Nice try I'll post 15
inter-high.unity3d.jp/archive/2016/

what the fuck

1 failed, 1 finished, 1 in the works, 1000 ideas

Oops wrong file

I'm trying to get to setting up the game's database on my laptop, but getting mysql (mariadb) to work is a pain. Mysqld is running, but I keep getting "SQL error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysqld.sock".

use redis, lad
it even has a handy dandy GUI navigator.

Nvm I think I fixed it by making a symbolic link to where the actual mysql.sock lies.

I could maybe, but as far as I know, mysql is sort of the standard and hence probably the easiest to get into, what with all the material around. And from the looks of it, Redis is BSD - my project is GPL so I prefer mariadb for the licensing, too.

Redis and SQL have different purposes. Often they complement each other (or SQL + memcached).

Fuck, I I had a team of 20 nip teenagers programming for me, I would have 'just made a game' too.

Redis has a FOSS windows port.
not sure what its licensed as though.

Alright, well my server mostly runs on Linux and the only reason it runs on Windows is for debugging. Anyway, its good to get to know about different options I suppose, not making any final decisions at this stage but just trying to get something playtestable complete.

If I had a team of at least 2 nip teenagers helping me at least a little I would have made a game too

>pick a random game from steam
>it easily sold about 13k copies and earning about $5 each after steam cut
>it's a easy 65k over a year+ of sales
Is this true?
It might be a shitty earning for a dev team.
but it's good enough for personal profits.
is 1MA the true redpill?

>is 1MA the true redpill?
It always has been.

if you can actually make a decent game on your own sure

Good luck. With how Steam treats new releases now you would be lucky to make 1k off your game unless you have a large external following.

You act as if everyone is capable of being 1MA.

Post progress

I post progress once a week. There's just not enough interesting changes to post progress all the time. Like wow, I made sure that you can't control affect the game in any way during a pause today. Wow.

Are you trying to be cool for not posting progress?

post ideas

desu, im with him.
People posting marginal variable changes can get monotonous to look at and comment on.

Lmao I feel like she's kinda attractive but that bikini is totally not flattering

posting new mechanic > posting minor polish > not posting > metaposting > shitposting

Haven't posted progress as its too early and stuck in menu world.

Able to highlight enemies who are within attack range but now need to populate a table with the enemies data so the player can select one to attack.

thanks for the blogpost stacy

Ted, HR needs to see you NOW

Updated some controller compatibility code. Nothing to show unless I film two people using both xbox and ps4 controllers with my 32x32 squares.

Just go to steam now, find a random game that u never even heard of. don't even have to be super good, but must not be buggy and crash all the time.
check the steamspy,
they have atleast a few thousands of copies sold.

I haven't tried walking simulator or text based adventures or RPG maker games yet, so i don't know about those games.

I made this animation for when you hit a wolf with a stone. The last part will loop while the wolf is stunned.

Progress!
Though I'm not sure why they don't collide when they are perpendicular to each other. I suppose that's the next thing on the menu.

I'll pick shitposting every day over a 'I made a cube move' post

I wonder why

keep in mind the sales might be inflated from steam trading cards and things like that which have been fixed and sales/giveaways

Yeah, it shows.

where's your game

I think you're looking at the new and trending tab, go to new releases and go down a few pages.

Also Steamspy doesn't work very well at low sales numbers.

Ask the question to yourself before asking others.

does it work in game yet?

seems like you're using variable size time steps in your update loop instead of fixed time steps.

in here

I just find it funny when you accuse people of not having a game when you've got nothing to show yourself

where does that art style come from?

Not yet. I'll implement it today, along with the other animations I made yesterday.

So what will you do if I post my game? Leave? Stop shitposting? Call my game shit? Tell me shitposting is better than my game?

Why the fuck are you responding to him?

Clarent new demo when?

I indeed am right now but that's not what's causing the problem here.

i've taken over production of Clarence.
it's going to now be an option dense visual novel with castlevania-like elements.

Turns out it DOES work when the paths are perpendicular. No idea why it didn't before or what fixed it. But it still behaves in a slightly fucky way that I'm unable to put into words.

Is there a final idea behind the game?

Just post it, if it's anything decent I'll just leave

Yeah, I'm basically stealing Push Push Penguin but making it multiplayer and better.

What engine/language+library?

Who /ludumdare/ here?

pygame

I want to try, but the themes are usually really bad.

Probably like 20 in total

what the fuck i just solved a HUGE problem in like a few minutes

i didnt plan to do anything else all day other than try to solve it

what do i do now

I-I will finish them someday when I get better at gamedev
RIP

speak for yourself, i'd take "heer my cueb do you liek :3" over frogs, anime, """artists""", valve samefag, gogem, enginewars and /r9k/-tier girl posting any time

Not me anymore. It's pretty shitty, you can only rate games if you submitted a game which means that unless you have really good art almost nobody will play your game. I barely got like 5 reviews and 15 plays total. Plus the themes are always boring garbage. Not to mention that even if you get reviews they are useless because this is a throwaway game slapped together in like 48 hours so why the fuck would you even need it reviewed in the first place.

About 6. I finished only 2 games, one of them was for lewd jam and one for ludum dare, both rushed and shitty.

>get a job in programming
>get spoiled by neat codebase at work
>dont want to dev at home anymore because the code i wrote before is ugly

Why can't I make it so that it just werkz anymore?

dont write ugly then you retarded blogposter

...

Trying my luck with my first one.

To avoid abandoning it, I'm making it very small and a part of a bigger project.

Meant for.

around 12
Some due to library migrations
Some due to lack of art
Some due to lack of dedication
Mostly due to the games just plain not being fun

But i learned form every mistake. And every failure spawned something worth while.

Repostan my Game Resources folder since I finally finished uploading the latest batch of pics and other stuff in it.
I wish there was a way to create a folder online where other people can add and remove shit from it anonymously.

>remove shit anonymously

>I wish there was a way to create a folder online where other people can add and remove shit from it anonymously.
A Google Drive maybe? I'm not sure what the options are.

dem saggy boobs

>tfw still not tuples in unity
we are on like .net 4.7 now so why the fuck am i still stuck on net 2.5 for fucks sakes they keep adding worthless stupid features like cloud support and don't care about massive existing bugs and hugely outdated core code

...

this is where someone spouts some enginewar baitpost

Just make your own, it's really short amd you don't need to do any memory management like with other containers

Is it anonymous? I'm pretty sure I can see the name of the guy who posted his porn folder, and he probably can see mine.

>Game Resources
for reference, free assets or is this just other peoples stolen pixel art?

because you can take part on the shitposting but not on making cube move right?

Do we even know if the dev is alive? He stopped posting, he stopped tweeting, and if I recall correctly he stopped answering the other guys working on it too I'm honestly worried for him
