I have trouble with Mai than Hakumen actually.

Mai just feels way too fucking fast to even hit I always end up in the corner from the constant attacks from Mai's C attacks. It always feels like there's no opening outside of ODs and bursts.

Mai is a gorilla masher at low level who you actually have to learn to fight against because she shits out damage. She pretty much has autocombos and doesn't have to work for her 3000-3500 damage. Nine fucks her over big time but learning Nine can be pretty complicated. Azrael can be a good choice because you can just do the same to her.

She isn't really good against zoning, since her options for getting in from fullscreen are all unsafe without RC, apart from walking/running. Or you could just pick Arakune and force her to block forever since her defensive options are RC supers/system mechanics (CA/Burst) iirc. Random command dashing out of shit for Mai can be dangerous so they don't usually do it.
