Is this a thing for all vag engines? I thought it was only a problem on their V6 engines.

it's specific to the 04-06 tdi's, at least in burgerland. it's a relatively uncommon problem anyways

Ironically the best engineering work to come out of italy, a fucking turbo diesel.

Everyone was saying they're reliable, but I'd argue 90% of the ravingly positive reviews came out of the ex-soviet block where people were replacing their commie shitboxes, as the engines weren't such a hot shit in western europe.

If you live in diesel country, people around you know how to start and drive a diesel in cold.
