The Mustang is A (note the A, bit “best”) car produced by Americans.
It is a good car. It’s famous, sold well, and is still being manufactured in one form or another at this very moment.

It was created because European cars were cheap and zippy, and Ford wanted part of that market.

Ford also produced muscle cars like the Torino at the same time.

They can both be considered good cars for their class.

A design that is meant to compete against something doesn’t automatically lose all originality based off of the fact that it was made to compete against something.

For instance, the Camaro was created to compete against the mustang.
This does not mean that Chevy stole the idea from Ford.
It means they went “fuck, they’re making money, let’s try and make our own”, and they did.
They did it differently, which is why there are mustang fans, and there are Camaro fans.
Each has its own design and thus strengths and faults.

The CZ-75 LOOKS LIKE a Browning Hi-Power (vaguely) because it was BASED OFF OF a Browning Hi-Power.
They used a Browning Hi Power as the jump off point for the design itself.

If you look at, say, the concept of assault rifles as a whole, they’re all inspired by and do pretty much the same thing but in a myriad of different ways.

One is using a specific model to go from point A to point B.
The other is part of a group of things all meant to have specific characteristics.

A small car meant to be cheap and still fun in order to appeal to younger buyers.
That is what the mustang was.
The European cars were doing this at the time.
Euro cars became associated with that.

As such, they tagged along and went “me too!” With the styling in order to get people to ask about it and potentially sell them.
It’s a simple fucking difference.
