Just because it is electric, it won't be unfun. Think of go karts. Some of the funnest driving experiences I've had was in go kart competitions. They are just like electric. 1 gear, get up and go, brake and accelerate, that's it. It is all about control and competition. Just because you don't shift doesn't mean driving is less fun. I will miss the control with a manual, but frankly, electric is just as capable and with good pedal control, you can keep everything at a torque level you need for a given situation.

Yes, things will be battery powered in 20 years NEW. But we will always have injection and carbs, etc. Because classic laws and rulings that will take place. The governments would have to require everyone to get rid of the cars they already own, and that just won't happen.
Getting 100% rid of steering and brakes is never going to happen. If anything EPS will get better and more like hydraulic.

this is actually a solid point, it's kinda like saying how badly we miss old games, but in reality everyones computer these days can emulate 90% of games pre 2000

secondly, think of the implications. Unless you have legitimate business in an area (commerce, employment, family, education) you simply will not be allowed to travel to that location. Fleets of busses will become a thing of the past as people can request their own personal rides (which also control pickup and drop off locations)
This will easily segregate the poors from the middle and upper class, localizing crime in those areas.
People are quite delusional to think cars will be banned/all electric/all autonomous in our lifetime. Besides that, the moment there's a really truly awful economic collapse is when we see some back to basics machines and all of the unnecessary trinkets and gizmos and pointless driver aids and pedestrian airbag placebos end up like all of the other overdesigned toys of the past few years - landfill material.
