I think we can all agree that we are living in the last "hurrah" of cars that are engaging to drive.
In 20 years time everything is going to be electric, electrically assisted, or both. Soon enough we will witness the end of cars with controls that are physically attached to their coinciding mechanical bits.
so? with cars in the future that aren't limited by their physical controls, you'll be able to press a button on a screen and have your car adjust the steering, motors, suspension, and everything else to emulate classic cars or whatever
so if you want an AE86 experience you can do so without the AE86. it's gonna be great; I won't miss old cars a bit
Asher Jones
this, old cars are the worst desu
Nolan Green
Just because it is electric, it won't be unfun. Think of go karts. Some of the funnest driving experiences I've had was in go kart competitions. They are just like electric. 1 gear, get up and go, brake and accelerate, that's it. It is all about control and competition. Just because you don't shift doesn't mean driving is less fun. I will miss the control with a manual, but frankly, electric is just as capable and with good pedal control, you can keep everything at a torque level you need for a given situation.

In 20 years time everything is going to be computarized, injected, or both. Soon enough we will witness the end of cars with fuel injection and ignitions that are physically attached to their coinciding mechanical bits

In 20 years time everything is going to be electromechanical, powered, or both. Soon enough we will witness the end of cars with bias-ply tires, finicky tappets, hand-crank starters, and manual chokes that are physically attached to their coinciding mechanical bits

>I think we can all agree that we are living in the last "hurrah" of cars that are engaging to drive. No, I disagree.
Yes, things will be battery powered in 20 years NEW. But we will always have injection and carbs, etc. Because classic laws and rulings that will take place. The governments would have to require everyone to get rid of the cars they already own, and that just won't happen.
Ian Carter
Getting 100% rid of steering and brakes is never going to happen. If anything EPS will get better and more like hydraulic.

In 20 years time everything is going to be wheeled, fueled, or both. Soon enough we will witness the end of horses physically attached to their coinciding mechanical bits.

I think we can all agree that we are living in the last "hurrah" of paths that are engaging to walk along.
In 20 years time everything is going to be cobbled, paved, or both. Soon enough we will witness the end of paths with uneven dirt physically attached to their coinciding mechanical bits.

I see now, you are just being an idiot.

n 20 years time everything is going to be sage, porn shitposting, or both. Soon enough we will witness the end of posts made by people that are physically attached to their coinciding brain bits.

I think we can all agree that we are living in the last "hurrah" of shitposters that are engaging to listen to.
In 20 years time everything is going to be a bot, a payed shill, or both. Soon enough we will witness the end of shitposters with humor that are physically attached to their coinciding mechanical bits.

This shit is too easy.

Camden Clark
Feels bad.
Connor Martinez
you can't be that surprised, given the venue
Noah James
Tru, but sometimes I get a lucky hit and some discussion happens.
Christian Torres
This was potentially a great thread.
I think OP is right and I agree 100% The whole shabang with Dodge and their hellcats/demons with over 700-900hp cars out of the factory, Ford and their Shelby, GM as well are all making the last "push" until it is obsolete.
Manual will be obsolete soon enough.
Every other car manufacturer is releasing high powered fun gasoline cars but this really is their end.
It's basically a throwback to the 90s except this time it's the 2020s.
Toyota with the Supra, Nissan with GTR, Honda with NSX, Subaru with WRX STi and all of those are soon transforming into electric/hybrid horseshit.
I'll hold onto my shitboxes.
Gavin Rodriguez
This, unfortunately. Our time has come.

this is actually a solid point, it's kinda like saying how badly we miss old games, but in reality everyones computer these days can emulate 90% of games pre 2000
hopefully there will be an electric car one day that we can sorta remind ourselves what it was like to drive our classic joys but we can still hide the real thing in our garages
>implying you will be able to drive your own car in the future
regulations will make it so that self driving cars are heavily subsidized. It's a cheaper way to improve traffic flow without actually doing anything. The higher the proportion of self driving cars, the safer and more efficient existing roads become. Also, safety regulations.
secondly, think of the implications. Unless you have legitimate business in an area (commerce, employment, family, education) you simply will not be allowed to travel to that location. Fleets of busses will become a thing of the past as people can request their own personal rides (which also control pickup and drop off locations)
This will easily segregate the poors from the middle and upper class, localizing crime in those areas.
Nolan Robinson
People are quite delusional to think cars will be banned/all electric/all autonomous in our lifetime. Besides that, the moment there's a really truly awful economic collapse is when we see some back to basics machines and all of the unnecessary trinkets and gizmos and pointless driver aids and pedestrian airbag placebos end up like all of the other overdesigned toys of the past few years - landfill material.
Nathan Kelly
Ok that is pretty awesome
Mason Wilson
I doubt that this was ever said. People were fucking sick of horses. How would you like it if your car shat everywhere?
Luke Stewart
Reading this made my heart physically hurt. I don't wanna leave. The government is going to have to pry my vee-ate shitbox from my cold dead hands.
Easton Kelly
how would you like it if your car smelly and loud? Some people are sick of ICEs
