This, back in the 60's the Corvette was selling so well that Ford agreed to finance a Texas rando's idea of selling V8 swapped British Roadsters to the public, the Cobra was created to compete with the Corvette, but it was so goddamn impractical it didn't catch on. The Viper right down to the name was meant to be an homage to the Cobra as during development, Carroll Shelby had partnered with Dodge.
