Everyone knows American cars are downright terrible. But what's the worse American car manufacture and why is it Ford?

GM may be shit, but Chrysler is so shit they aren't even relevant to the discussion anymore.

Ford is GOAT tho, you dumb GM fangirl.

GOAT in what regards?

Purposely building shitty turbo engines that'll go out before 150,000 miles? That so the owner can replace that pos with another Ford and keep the cycle going?

t. Gm shill

If anything Ford is the most well rounded American car company

itt

fags forget that there is Ford USA and FORD EU

>hurr u hate ferds so that automatically make u a dum gm fangurl/shill durr

Nice buzzword.

But I'll give Ford the little credit I can, at least some American Ford vehicles are built in the states unlike the other American brand.

Now as for "well rounded American car company"

Mind explaining this scummy ass company is "well rounded"?

They offer best-in-class options in just about every segment, from cheap basic shitboxes to hot hatches to midsize sedans to performance coupes to a full-on road-legal race car

Mazda makes all Ford's engines other than the v8. Ford wasn't bailed out like gm. They still male cheap sporty cars unlike Toyota. How are they bad again?

That's not how you spell FCA m80

>at least some American Ford vehicles are built in the states

ho bullshit, no ford is bulilt in the states. as far as i know theyre either built in tacoland of mapleleaf land

last week I did a 180 degree handbrake turn in my '89 escort, after which it felt like power was only going to the left wheel.
Drove for 5 minutes and the car fixed itself. Ford a best. (28 year old car also took me on a 2,000km road trip with no issue)

>GOAT

The trucks are complete garbage. Paint flakes off within 100K, the auto transmissions are notoriously garbage in not only the trucks but the cars as well. the 5.4 3V is a complete pile of shit, as are the 3.5 ecoboosts.

My Ferd F-150 is built in Michigan but has a bunch of parts sourced from Canada and Mexico.

Still built in the states though.

>The trucks are garbage

Because burger "trucks" aren't actually trucks they're basically SUVs with no back with the sole market being brodozer buyers who don't care about toughness or load carrying because they don't use them to actually do work. Actual trucks have diesel engines

Someone's seeing a lot of targeted ads

Hi there! I see it’s your first roundabout Shitposting! Here’s a friendly tip!
>don’t

>tfw no ublock

>Starting a discussion about bad car brands is considered "shitposting"

Veeky Forums's current state

>Everyone knows American cars are downright terrible. But what's the worse American car manufacture and why is it Ford

Wooooow look at this asshurt gm fangirl...where did the Fiesta touch you sweety????

Idk if this is retarded brand slavery or just trolling

Ford is probably the best US large scale car manufacturer. Lets see why
>Performance at every level of income(Fiesta/Focus ST, Mustang GT/Focus RS, Taurus SHO, Ford GT, Raptor
>cheap as fuck parts and insurance.
>great fleet vehicles
>global branding and exports
>sponsors or host racing events like Formula Ford, goes to Le man's just to win.
>experimenting with actual luxury in the Lincoln Continental.
>Warranty is pretty good.

Only complaint I can have is though the interiors are MILES better than before, some of it is still cheap(chrome trim particularly).

>inb4 Overheating GT350 that some retard took the track with 0 prep and 0 upgrades to cooling(same for the C7 Vette, or really any street car being tracked)

Chevy has been good lately as well, although alittle hyper stylized, engines are fucking solid minus their attempt at twin turbo I4. Their current V6 and V8's are golden. Steel lined beds in trucks. best performance V6 Ever.

Dodge is still shittiest as of now. and theyve made huge strides. I wish they'd drop their ancient old Merc platform for the Charger/Challenger. but seriously. Name any countries manufacturers that are spitting out powerful as fuck V8 cars that a tradesman or factory worker can afford.

shit dude I can't even think of any manufacturer sucking right now.

Honda has a crazy good V6 Accord. the NSX, Civic Type R, Toyota has the 86 and soon to be Supra. I guess Mazda is really just holding onto the Miata. Wish they'd revive the RX. Even fucking Kia has the Stinger GT.

My only current complain with car manufacturers is the Germans slapping AMG or ///M on everything. but even that is hardly a complaint. just ruining prestige i guess.

I will agree with you on most things, but I think Ford's build quality is a little sub-par and they aren't exactly on the cutting edge of modern technology. There is something a little archaic about most of their vehicle's chassis, transmission and suspension setups, although that has all come a long way in the last ~5 years but still behind their rivals in some areas.

GM is currently building the best vehicles they ever have by a large margin.

Mazda is making some of the best economical driver's cars on the market.

Yeah there really aren't any bad cars out there. FCA and Nissan/Renault/ Mitsubishi probably the worst. The new Infiniti QX50 looks pretty cool though.

why are we talking shit about mopar, again?

Ford hasn’t made anything with the 3v 5.4 in like 5 years lol

I heard Ford's 5.0L V8 is good but miles behind the Hemi in reliability.

But I got that from a Dodgefag so what does he know?

Memes aside American cars aren't actually that unreliable and shit, however there are very shit models of cars in every company no matter the country

>American cars aren't actually that unreliable and shit
we know, we won le mans with a 1-2-3 finish 4 years in a row.

which is the best american V8?

>LS/LT
>Aluminator
>Hemi

dz302

1968 was a British entry driven by a Mexican and a Belgian
1969 was another Belgian and a Brit

1967 was the only all-American entry

started british but ended more americunt than anything. sorry m8

Ford is shit because I konw they are shit.

>lets use plastic clips for everything that opens
>doors-trunks
>nevermind that they'll be opened atleast twice a day each day its driven
>nevermind we'll make everything out of plastic
>lets just put shit on top of everything even though the engine bay is fucking huge
>lets make simple jobs like sparkplugs take an hour because lets have a bunch of shit cramped tightly on top of every other vital component that will no doubt wear out in the future

I am a firm believer in planned obsescense. 2000 Ford Explorer V6. I don't even dare to imagine how it would be like trying to maintain a V8 ford engine.

oh.

The only reason the GT40s started winning was because of Carroll shelby. if left to the """British""" the cars would've been total failures.

>>shit dude I can't even think of any manufacturer sucking right now.
Mitsubishi?

the main reason the GT40s were stomping so hard is because they figured out how to replace the rotors in under 1 minute.

The only thing bad about American cars is their interiors.

>everyone itt driving post 2000s vehicles expecting quallity

American car is the best

On luxury models perhaps, but economy cars of all brands have meh interiors

Chinks are retarded. Someday, they will find out Buick is for old farts.

It's because China's last emperor had Buicks. And for quite some time, Chinese Buicks were much nicer than American ones. May still be for all I know.

Old farts and blacks.

Nailhead

>I don't even dare to imagine how it would be like trying to maintain a V8 ford engine.
pretty easy my man, at least for the 4.6, spark plugs are literally a ten minute job, even less if you've got coil on plug and don't have to fuck with wires everywhere, everything is spaced out nicely and you can pull the valve covers without even taking out the engine, and i don't know what you mean by plastic clips because every clip, lever, and contact point i can find is metal
granted that's on a panther boat not an exploder so it might be different for you

I agree with you on this. GM is finally building great cars again with the exception of the cruise.

Mazda also makes nice cars.

Fords ecoboost is marketing and not very good or reliable

I just looked at mine, I have no idea what he's on about.

>ho bullshit, no ford is bulilt in the states. as far as i know theyre either built in tacoland of mapleleaf land
you don't know shit apparently, the F150 and Mustang are built in the US.

>But I got that from a Dodgefag so what does he know?
Never heard of a coyote 5.0 cracking a valve spring @ 150k miles like clockwork.

buicks are comfy as fuck, it's like driving around in your grandparent's living room

remember when chrysler almost ragequitted nascar and NHRA because of this?

teksid 4.6

Weird because I have a Ford Plant literally 5 miles from my house in, Kansas City Missouri USA, that builds the F-150 and the Transit van. I personally work for a Canadian parts supplier that assembles structural components (i.e. the unibody) for the Transit van (and the Chevy Malibu also built locally). So next time you want to spout off about who builds what where do a simple Google search and educate yourself. Ford, like most manufacturers build their most high volume sales vehicles in or relatively close to the markets they are sold in, it just makes sense as shipping entire vehicles overseas is pretty expensive...

They literally got themselves banned from NASCAR when they sperg'd about the SOHC

No, but I heard of one having a busted ass water pump at 120,000 miles.

Everything on my 2004 4.6 Explorer looks easy peasy. Only got it a year ago with 200k on it, so I really haven't had to do anything under the hood other than clean the throttle body.

They used to be comfy af. Now I don't know what they think they are. When grandma gave up driving I got offered a '14 Regal and said no thanks. The visibility was awful, it didn't ride well, it didn't handle well. I think the 80s was the last time Buick made a decent car. I liked the 86-91 LeSabre, but the 92+ drove like Panther with no shocks.

Aren't the FiST and FoST built in Michigan?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ford_factories

And a bunch others. Good try.

Ford interiors are too gloomy, but they drive nice.
>Need to get me a challenger scatpack with 17' thick rubber wheels and nice soft nappa leather for maximum comfy.

Nice b8, GM fantard

mopar is for 12 year olds who stroke there pricks to displacement therefor it is the worst

fpbp
Chrysler is all flash and no function so it makes sense that's it's the go-to brand for niggers

Does ISIS still show up as the 1st image when you search Ford HQ on Google?

unfortunately, American made trucks have become for wealthier people. the mid tier 4x4 after taxes will cost about 60k for a crew cab and 80k for the premium diesel. the company figures if you have 60k to throw on a truck, you have the money to pay for a new transmission at 200k miles. thus quality of the build has gone down. soon they will be like the Ferraris where a particularly large locust could put a dent in the fender

cant forget the mandatory option sold by the factory to have your plugs ejected randomly and the special FEATURE of your transmission grenading or not shifting properly.

mopar is for anyone who strokes their dick to classic cars. go check out the pricing on clean mopars vs clean chevy/ford shit.

Chrysler > Ford > GM > all those niche manufacturers that no longer exist

It's pretty obvious. Stop hating on Ford because they're better than the volume leader.

Ford has historically relied the least on other countries for its cars.
Take a look at present and past GM/Chrysler models and where they were made:

>Camaro: Canada
>Cadillac XTS: Canada
>Impala: Canada
>Lumina: Canada
>Captiva: Mexico
>Cruze: Mexico
>Aztek: Mexico

>Neon: Mexico
>PT Cruiser: Mexico
>Ram Pickup: Mexico
>Minivans: Canada
>LH/LX cars: Canada

Off hand the only Canadian-built Fords I can think of were the Panther bodies and the horrible Windstar/Freestar.

ford gt is a canadian product
