I mean, it's more of, you get more relics than your raid as a whole needs and will get a plethora of them for re-rolls during farm without even doing M+
and that several specs literally the only way to good relics is pvp chests
and I think you missed the part where you basically have 3 choices so almost always one will be decent

decent isnt the best trait. If you want to have the best relic setup it is more grinding then before, no questions about it. For the average player, or minigamer it doesnt matter whatsoever tho.

and the fact that it doesn't need to be the best relic by default, it could basically be any relic that could be your bis relic because of the choosing system

realisticly speaking you have 2 BiS traits with the new relics, so you only farm relics with one of the two traits as a base.

the best healing ability on a dps is enhance shaman and yet almost nobody uses rainfall when enhance off-heals are actually kind of broken to the point where their extra passive rainfall and surge spot-heals can let you drop a healer

that's just cause nobody plays enhance so nobody knows about it

Is he talking bullshit or what? I feel like the difference between the best and worst spec, say on goroth, is fairly big. Then again specs have never been fairly balanced, I'm used to it

you don't play enhance. Rainfall can be powerful but it requires people to stand in it for it to be good. It's not that big of an AoE. Healing surge uses maelstrom and barely tickles, especially since no respectable enhance stacks crit. So you're using an offensive resource that to instacast and 20% of ur mana to cast a rinkydink shit heal. Also enhance is the squishiest spec in the game right now so combine all that shit and it's pretty much impossible to implement effectively

I do play enhance, lava lash does shit damage and if it's helping keep people alive and take an extra dps, I find it plenty worthwhile for me to dump 100-200k or so dps and it's not like you have to use too many healing surges at once, just heal screams and withers on host or top off dot targets on goroth or sisters before a glaive hits

maybe it was because my guild liked me but they gave me Hand of Rag and everything as enhance, and I was a fucking dick kicking machine.

But most dps specs have an rng element to them. Or are we just pretending specs like Fire doesn't exist?

which is true,
look at how high bm parses compare to high mm parses on high movement fights
then compare it with more middle-end parses compare
hell, lots of mages and hunters are going fire and bm for avatar this tier because they do more dps as those specs that are generally considered weaker (also because bm has a shorter cd on turtle if you have call of the wild)
same with frost and uh
the difference is definitely still there at all levels, but it gets bigger since there's more skilled players doing a certain one to give their guild the best they can do

LL did do shit damage in EN. Now it's respectable as a ST dump, and is ur main source of damage with the AK Ring build with hot hand.

well in progression this shit won't fly. you're sacrificing a huge chunk of DPS to put out barely noticeable healing surges.

lava lash is literally like 5-8% of your damage though with the gloves and ascendance...
and a lot of that is from lashing flames rather than the lava lash cast itself, so as long as you don't cap on that, you're fine...
the bigger actual concern is that surge cancels your auto-timer (same reason overcharge is garbo)
he's the one that doesn't know what he's talking about...
and I mean yeah I just help people top off before damage spikes and watch debuffs properly with my raidbars, we're 6/9M though so it works through maiden at least it let us drop a healer on a few fights so it's clearly helping, you just make a mouseover macro, you don't even need to drop target from the boss
some bosses like sisters and mistress you spend a crapton of time out of melee anyways...
I mean it's just helping with meeting a few single target healing checks and topping off people before low damage and surge hits decently hard
ele also has good healing if the fight is like krosus or inq and you can stormkeeper+AG adds down
