I'm going to buy an Alfa 159, memes aside, what should I expect?

some of the questions I have:
How solid does the car feel, does it rattle or squeak?
Any powertrain problem or with the electrics?
I live in a cold area, how does it hold up to rust?
how does it handle?

it's easy to pass real manufacture issues off as memes here thanks to shitposting, but ignoring consumer grievances and denouncing them as stereotypes is a great way to land yourself in a bad situation

cost of ownership of these cars is low
>depreciation already happened
>replacement parts on ebay at low prices because pre-overengineering era
>may increase its value in 10 years if 2.0Ti
who knows

>how does it handle?

>honda btfo

>FWD

>Honda on the last place
ouch

Absolutely nothing wrong with fwd you faggot.

so here it is, the only nigga rn not spouting memes.
Coworker has one, the TBi. 140 k km, nothing wrong with it over the last three years at least, wasn't there before that. he recently changed the wheel bearings and we changed the oil and coolant (because of milage). so basically expect an surprisingly elegant car that has a decent punch when you push it.
as usual the normal used car rules apply. check for rust, leaks and wear parts before pulling the trigger on one.

It's better than standing still but that's it

The 5 cyl diesels are heavy as fuck, don't go for those. Also they do have some mechanical problems, guy at my holiday job had the second engine in at 140 k km, first one had worn cams and leaked about 40% on 2 cylinders.
Interior is nice, tho, especially with the light brown seats.

I agree. Tell them to those RWD faggots.

Its low quality interiors, they look good but will get faded after 100k miles.
Eletrical gremlins arent unusual.
Tyres cost a lot on those sweet 19” wheels
But they do look stunning as a stationwagon
>diesel engines
Both engines are good enough, not great, but better than you would expect from Fiat.
The 1.9 will need a gearbox rebuild tho, its a common fault.
The 2.4 has not many known issues, apart from really high fuel comsumptions and has a LSD. Since you are buying used, they probably will need a new turbo or clutch (most used diesels for sale do)
>petrol engines
Most GM crap, not particularly unreliable or reliable, just meh with low power and torque, engines that wont make justice to that car, since the 159 is a heavy car, unless its the 1850ti, that one might be fun.

>better than you would expect from FIAT
The fuck does that mean, ever worked on any FIAT motors?

>MUH RWD IS SOU GOUD
>OH U HAVE FRUNT WHEL DRIVE? LMAO MY HONDA CIVIC WILL SMOEK U XD
>OH FWD? OH THATS BAD I DONT WANT FWD ID RATHER WALK THAN DRIVE A FWD CAR
t.soyracer
RWD isn't god's dick so stop stroking it so hard.
A RWD car is slightly better when it comes to speed and track, something a retard that can barely afford a Civic shouldn't care about.
Normal people don't care and "car enthusiasts" like yourself only care because you can brag to your mangina friends that your 100hp shitbox is RWD.

Sounds like you've never driven a RWD car.
It seriously makes all the difference in the world.
I have two qualifications for a car
Manual and RWD.
There are literally no cars made that fit both of those that I don't want.
There are a few Manual FWD cars that I would take, but not many.
And there are no automatic cars that I would take.

yeah, dont be a mjet fanboy, everyone knows that Fiats fall apart.
I just said that those 2 engines arent bad, but Fiats arent great either.

if you are overly enthusiastic with it and say that Fiats are reliable af people will surely get disapointed because they just arent.
if you say that they are unreliable people will be happy because they will think "they arent that bad after all".

You said the engines were better than what you'd expect from fiat, but this simply is not true since everyone agrees that multijet Diesel engines have always been among the best engines in their displacement class.

Dude, engines generally aren't the letdown in Italian cars. I've owned and worked on a few and have done extensive amounts of track work.
I owned the ugly brother of the car you posted too.

Then, FWD GTI, FWD based Acuras, FWD based Audis and more FWD cars are suddenly fine?

You're an ignorant faggot, that's what you are. And it shows you've never worked in engines, let alone italian ones.
The 1.9 Multijet is revered as one of the most reliable diesel engines ever made and you say it isn't "great."
Especially because engines in Fiats were never the issue.
The only unreliable ones ever fitted to Fiat group cars were made by GM.

Aaand heres the autistic team mjet
>best in their displacement class
sure thing dude. literally the best.

what about Opel with fiat engines?
The main tip when getting a Opel is “get the one that doesn't have a Fiat engine, the 1.7 Isuzu”.
Stay biased

No fiat's fault if at opel they're incompetent monkeys, we're still talking about GM eh. Also sold to the French.

Alfa's are fucking dogshit

>horrible steering
>disgusting gearboxes
>showy but poorly made interiors
>generally dull to drive

They're a meme, don't do it.

B-but, it is FUCKIN Alfa

we all know they suck (except the mjet guy), but we love them anyway

>horrible steering

1€ has been deposited into your bank account

Yes horrible, heavy as fuck and uneven.

>opel

and the main tip when getting an alfa is "get the diesel"
Suzuki uses fiat engines and they're said to be one of the most reliable manufacturers according to consumer reports.

>horrible steering
the 159's steering has one of the best feeling steering i've encountered.
>disgusting gearbox
guess what - they're a GM product
>showy but poorly made interiors
i'd rather this than a dull fucking Audi interior
>dull to drive
t. i've never taken an alfa to its limits

Opel Fiat engines are built by Daewoo, least where I live.

t. Paid actual money for Italian trash

How do you explain that Fiat engines are only unreliable in Opels and pretty reliable in Fiats?
I'll give you a hint: peripherals.

You're a retarded faggot, get out.

Decent car, but see if you can get the 156 GTA.
If you're gonna get diesel, get either 1.9 150 bhp or any of the 2.4. If petrol - 3.2 jts.
Its important to know a shop that knows these cars, if you know one they're ok.
