Hi, I know these threads get a bad rep for not talking about the game much but I could use some help...

I'm kinda new to the game, I just got to endgame. i play a Dragoon. i just got ACT set up

I'm item level 302 and I can't seem to do very good DPS, I see people with my gear do a lot more sometimes. It's very hard to keep certain buffs up like life of the dragon and the stacks and whatnot

I just did an ala mihgo run and this was the last boss meters. i used the limit break

Can anyone give me any pointers or some way I can learn how to play a bit better?

How are you guys satisfied with your statics? I really like the group I'm with, but I feel like I can easily be in a better group.

Like, we make really solid progress, we're progressing on O/V/D3s (whatever fucking letter you choose), already on the animal phase, sometimes making it to the next phase despite only having around 4-5 hours of prog on it.

My only gripe is our comp's dps. I play MCH (inb4 lol) and I'm my groups highest dps. On Os2 I out damage my group by a solid 3-400 dps, and I'm sure its much more during our Os3 prog.

personally I never want to be the best player on any static/team I'm on. I need to have someone better than me to push me. That said every now and then it is nice to play with a bunch of people who make you look better.

Wouldnt recommend ditching them particularly if you are friends and actually making progress like you said. Just work with your dps players and try to make them better. It will feel more rewarding when you finally clear than if you simply jumped on a different static.

You should post a dummy parse instead friendo. That boss has mechanics that will effect your dps.

That's totally backwards, dummy DPS doesn't mean anything because it doesn't involve any mechanics. If somebody wants tips on doing higher DPS in content that means tips on maximizing uptime and rotation and class mechanics while also dealing with the boss mechanics that will affect your DPS.

Is it not better to see the max dps you can do on a dummy first before doing boss deeps? besides do you really know anyone who parses ala mhigo of all things? what can you compare that too

Theoretical DPS is good to compare against, but mechanics overrule that. Dummies are best for getting the rotation down to the point it's second nature so you can focus on fight mechanics.

The first step to DPS on a boss is mechanics. Once that's down, then you worry about maximizing your damage, and that has a lot more to do with a specific fight than theoretical DPS.

I don't mind being the best player, as long as there's someone nipping at my heels on the meters, but I guess the fact that I'm the weakest dps and outdamaging everyone is kinda disheartening. Like if someone else were playing the ranged support I could easily pick up sam or blm and do significantly more damage. And I'm not trying to jump ship, just mainly complaining, because I do like them and we do make excellent progress in relation to how much time we've actually spent raiding savage.

I just feel that as a machinist, I shouldn't be top over a nin or rdm, I don't really blame our drg, cuz a lot of mechanics in fights just punish a drg pretty badly, but she could still easily pump out more dps than she currently is

To be fair I do get 90%+ parses, but we don't really hit enrage problems because the dps checks are literally don't have 2 dps die at any point of the fight
