To scared to go around a corner at speeds in excess of 120kmh? Have trouble seeing straight when sideways?
Maybe you should putt up a jeep trail on your DRZ and claim to be an elite motocross rider.

isn't four cylinders for 250cc a bit much? How reliable are the 250cc hornets compared to its two cylinder brethren? I was considering either a 400 super four if I can find one in good condition or a gs500 if I cant.
Blake Davis
Still the same thing.

A bike shop near me has a 2013 with 2000 miles on it for $8k. At that price can I afford not to buy it?

got hit while lane splitting about a month ago and the collision report stated it was my fault any anons got experience with this? how fucked am i? Lane splitting is legal here btw
Jackson Carter
Only acceptable if dual sport
Camden Wright
Kinda need to explain what happened user. Were you being a shitbag filtering at 100km/h or what?

You can still be at fault if it's legal. Get an attorney.

Don't get a GS500 unless it's super cheap, they're terrible bikes.
Nathan Foster
Talk to the police that wrote that explaining it was filled out wrong. Go up the chain of command until it gets fixed.
Logan Ortiz
what should i try to get? I'm around 95-100kilos(~220lbs), 187cm(6'1) with a long torso and short extremities. My other options were cb500 or er5. I don't care how the bike looks as long as it's a reliable commuter and I can learn how to ride.
Jason Cox
motard setup yes? either way you gotta have your weight less on the seat and more on the pegs. and just let the bike do its thing more

Yes.
Go for it, good price.

>very lightly tap a card mirror when filtering >He honked at me Felt bad, but it was nothing. I wish people wouldn't sit so close to the line. I need mirrors that fold in easily.
Kevin Howard
Did you at least check for damage to the mirror?
Nathaniel Barnes
It happens, I once accidentally tapped some dudes mirror but he was stationary. I stopped, quickly glanced it over, saw it wasn't damaged and gave a thumbs up to say it's okay and a wave of apology before riding off.
I only really filter when it's definitely clear to now, especially on a newer bike that has a worse turning circle than my old one.
Adam Perez
Yeah man, I stopped and looked back. Gave him a little apology wave. It was next to nothing, I was going through at a slow walking pace and just misjudged. I absolutely hate sitting in traffic now. I feel like if I'm not moving I'm not doing it right.

I've never hit anyones mirror in traffic, besides the one I took. I do it sometimes in parking lots tho. I feel bad but there's never been anyone in the car, so I just check to make sure I didn't break anything on move on. Did it the other day, but I was on the dual sport which has bark busters, so I was really worried, but I didn't even bend it.
If they drove off you're golden. Read about pain and suffering, claim your back and neck hurts, your knees and ankle are sore, anything you can think of and these people will pretty much have to pay fuckin boat loads of money. You play this right and you never have to work again.
Ethan King
I hate California and everything about it except the lanesplitting, of which I'm jealous af about.
Is there another state that at least allows lane filtering or there it's tolerated by the police?
Or maybe California has such shitty traffic jams and it's better to be in another state even if there isn't lanesplitting?
Robert Ortiz
Hoping to get more (you)'s this time

>thinking about getting a second bike >all the ones I want don't have a fucking centre stand stock fucking christ.

Luis Hall
it makes maintenance easier desu.
Brayden Hernandez
Paddock stands cost fuck all, do the same job and mean your bike doesn't have an ugly centre stand under it.
Elijah Wood
>Stock GL Kinda plain >I want a 100$ option only found on scooters and dadbikes because I'm too dumb to get a 20$ paddock stand
Nathaniel Wright
Just buy an aftermarket one.
Or do what I do, tip it on it's kickstand and push some shit underneath it, a couple of car jackstands, ect. Works fine unless you think you need to do repairs or maintenance out in some Wal-Mart parking lot somewhere.
William Clark
WA legalized recently. I feel like most places tolerate it to an extent. Also, I might be the only one who does this, but I differentiate lanesplitting ant filtering. Where lane splitting is getting through moving traffic, and filtering is moving through stopped traffic to get to the front. People seem to be able to deal with lanesplitting easier than filtering, I don't filter anymore since I moved to a state that doesn't like it, but I still lanesplit.
Camden Taylor
hi bikefaggot kindly kill yourself please and make way for my ls1 you lane splitting retard
Asher Collins
can you ride around with a paddock stand on? if not, they seem like a pain to transport.
that's exactly why I want one with a centre stand. I've had shit go south out in the middle of the nowhere and the centre stand has saved my ass.
Nathan Harris
>can you ride around with a paddock stand on?
No but if you maintain your bike properly you shouldn't need to perform maintenance that requires a stand whilst out riding anyway.
Isaac Martinez
I'd think filtering would be safer and better tolerated. People really get butthurt enough to try to block you?
In Colorado I rarely find myself wanting to lanesplit or filter, but I'd like to be able to anyways.
Once traffic on a mountain road came to a compete halt for 20 minutes. I didn't bother moving ahead because I figured I'd just be ticketed by whatever cops were around the accident or whatever, even though nobody else would give zero fucks in the circumstances.
I just got off my bike and walked around.
Xavier Scott
yeah no shit, but unexpected stuff can happen.
Josiah Perry
... I've been lane splitting for the last 2 years in colorado... since i got my motorcycle
I thought it was legal lol
i need to get my licence
Robert Wilson
What king of Chinese piece of shit do you ride that you need to be able to do a tire off job on the road?
Ryan Phillips
:)
I've had people try to block me in Cali, one time actually hitting me. It's definitely safer to filter, but people get angry cause they're siting there and you're not.
And that's where I moved to. So many times have I wanted to move to the front of a stoplight, but didn't because if people will try to block me even in Cali, I can't imagine what people who aren't used to it will do.
Carter Martinez
Like all traffic infractions in Colorado, enforcement is inconsistent at best. With the mountain road example, I knew they'd be forced to issue a ticket if I just rolled up on them past 3 miles of stopped traffic.
Zachary Clark
I pretend my pigfat adv is a dirt bike, does that count?
David Russell
Whats with this state and it seemingly lack of police. Probably the one plus as far as traffic goes, cause people here drive like shit. Almost get hit on a daily basis.
Michael Russell
I think you're an absolute lunatic for riding that heavy bastard on ice and snow.
Andrew Edwards
All the cops are busy evicting homeless encampments, I guess. My understanding though is the overwhelming priority is going after DUIs, so the traffic cops only come out at night. Why bother running around to issue $40 speeding tickets when you can nail a $10,000 fine for a drunk driver?
Jason Watson
I've decided to invest into some good armor meaning I want an airbag vest and a better jacket for everyday commuting. But I can't decide if I should get a separate airbag and jacket or just get a jacket with an integrated airbag like: I don't know about the quality of the leather in this jacket, but it's advertised as 1.3mm cowhide with ce2 protection at the shoulders, elbows and back. With the price of the vest included that's a pretty good deal. However, for that price I could potentially get a used meme jacket like a vanson and buy a separate airbag vest. I don't really care about looks, I just want to get home in safe and comfort.
Caleb Davis
I actually locked up the rear brake at like 5 km/h, the bike started tipping over and I caught it right before it hit the ground. But when I tried to pick it up, I couldn't get enough grip on the ground with my boots, so I spent like 2 minutes just holding it slightly above the ground trying to figure out what to do. Although I surprisingly didn't have any traction issues when moving slowly, it was just the breaking and standing still that was the problem.
Dylan Clark
...
Luke Phillips
Reasonable explanation. I still don't really see them at night. Of course, where I drive at night probably doesn't get a whole lot of traffic from the people who go the clubs.
Jack Allen
Separate airbag. That way if you have a relatively gentle get-off you don't have to buy a new jacket.
Also, buy something with hard armor for the chest. Besides head injuries, chest injuries are the major killers of motorcyclists.
The only two pieces of armor that will actually save your life is a helmet and chest protector, but an airbag can't hurt either.
Zachary James
But I do both, what does that mean.
Jace Anderson
>The only two pieces of armor that will actually save your life is a helmet and chest protector
True but abrasion resistance is also important, the less damage you do to your body in a crash the better. I'd rather my body just have to deal with fixing broken bones and internal bruising/bleeding than also having to deal with half the skin also missing.
Bentley Gutierrez
I'm worried about the abrasion resitance of the airbags. If it's encased in thick 1.3mm leather a fall won't damage the built in textile vest. I think the only armor I've seen with built in chest protection are some alpinestar models and scorpion. I was hoping that the airbag would deploy fast enough to act as chest protection in the case of a highsider.
Robert Allen
It has 'enough' abrasion resistance. The airbag is meant to absorb the initial shock of the impact and they deflate almost immediately after anyways. They are not to like, turn you into bubble boy, bouncing safely down the highway after your bike.
Everyone is going to have a opinion about gear and it's purely your preference, but I'd always insist on hard chest armor. If some Stacey pull outs in front of you at 55mph, I'd rather have hard armor there to bounce off the B frame than hoping an airbag will deploy effectively.
Why not get both? They make armor that fits under a jacket, and airbags that can go over, but this might be overkill if you are doing errands and commuting to work.
Way I see it, helmet, chest protector, gloves, jacket, boots, pants, in order of importance.
Easton Williams
New member of the family lads, 1979 GS1000, sat for three years uncovered, being picked at and abused in the ghetto. Picked it up for 100 bucks, can part it out and make easily 600 off the exhaust/carbs alone.
Yet, we put some oil through her, cleaned carbs, fired up and ran strong in under 20 seconds. She's a keeper. Needs alot of work to be street worthy, but I'll make something of this old girl.

Prolly could have gotten it for less honestly, I met with the guy who owned it and pinged him with a random number of 100, he looked surprised.
