I've heard reasons ranging from the LS not being Vollgasfest to the power/weight ratio of the B with an LS being lower than the Lotus Omega.
Probably was the Vollgasfest thing, as even VAG made my contemporary 75hp shitbox capable of driving its 175km/h top speed for an hour (and longer) straight. Though the Swedish did the same thing, a (also contemporary) tuned Volvo is also Vollgasfest.
