Both of the players in this video are bad. Why would you ever tunnel vision this hard on a single DR spy running back to spawn? Why doesn't the spy just shoot the engineer?

He's running back toward his team, the engineer is alone. He lucked out in that he didn't encounter one of the spy's teammates until he was already way back at their spawn, but he still overextended like an idiot.

"I really wanted to kill him" and "I didn't think it'd go on for so long" and "I didn't notice my team had capped causing the spawns to change"

He didn't shoot the spy enough. Being that bad at engineer using stock shotgun over rescue ranger is just sad.

That's the problem, shooting him only does minor damage. People don't use the DR for getting away, they use it as a shield to protect them from taking damage so they can immediately try whatever stupid plan they were trying again, and because the DR offers such massive damage resistence, it means they win almost any battle of attrition.

I never said DR didn't have bad design, but if you can't deal enough damage to kill him in one go, don't bother chasing and wait for him to come back on your flank. Also, plenty of classes deal enough damage to kill a DR spy in a few hits, the health boost doesn't mean that much when most weapons will do ~100 point blank.

This. He got baited hard, and complaining about the DR when you play like a retard is, well it's retarded.

Also, the video is set in one of the worst maps in-game. The main problem is that there are large ammo packs scattered everywhere on Barnbiltz(and most other payload maps) which makes both sentry and DR spam a breeze. Don't shit on the DR without also shitting on the garbage map design that allows DR spies to excel where they clearly shouldn't.

Barnblitz has bad map design, that engineer got baited hard, and the counter to the dead ringer will always be to just shoot the spy and let your team know that there's a spy around so people who are respawning can deal with him if he slips behind while you focus on the objective at hand.

Popping a Spy's DR means you have one of two options

1. Drop everything you're doing so you can properly track him and end his life
2. Ignore him and allow him to get easy kills on some less attentive retard on your team
