TÜV isn't a single organisation, there are multiple different independent companies under that name operating across europe from differing areas within Germany. A couple of years back I had to get TÜV Rheinland certification for one of my rolls, fairly painless if you can class an 8 hour exam without a calculator as painless.

I'm an electro optical ordnance repairman in the marines which is directly responsible for my hobby in cars. Prior to the school I had never touched a tool in my life and knew jack shit. 9 months later I could use hand and power tools, solder, splice wires, troubleshoot with a wiring diagram and use deductive reasoning. Things were looking good gonna be fixing javelins and Sabres in a lab for the government.

Then first station I worked closely with LAV mechanics and picked up a ton of skills and tips both on duty and off in free time when the mechs would work on their own project cars. Never even touched an optic the whole time. Eventually ended up managing the spares parts room ordering and issuing repairable for military vehicles.

Unfortunately a lot of my career I have been tasked out to extraneous shit and not gotten to actually fix any optical weapons systems. But hey I know my way around an engine and transmission, been an MP, machine gunner, mortarmab, detainee handling expert, security forces, and cook lol. I'm planning on going into law enforcement when I get out and fixing cars on the side so I guess this Worked out better for me, learning journeyman skillset, than being some Poindexter
