> “If I hit someone, I’ll hit him again and make sure he’s dead.” Enjoying my shock, he explained that in Taiwan, if you cripple a man, you pay for the injured person’s care for a lifetime. But if you kill the person, you “only have to pay once, like a burial fee.” He insisted he was serious—and that this was common.
do they not get jail time for killing them? also >china >no morals no surprises there really. they're so morally bankrupt it's not funny.

They do but it's only when there's undeniable evidence or the community pulls out the driver and beats them then testifies. But even then, a lot of rich people pay off the right people and video evidence is somehow "unreliable", then they walk away with a slap on the wrist. Crazy.
Austin Barnes
Don't cops apply the same reason in the US when shooting people? Not officially, but it's there.
Isaac Myers
For a different reason. The logic is that you wouldn't shoot unless there's a great danger, and if there's a great danger you'd be pressed to shoot to kill, not only shoot to injure. If you shoot to injure your shooting was unnecessary.
who has the gif of the chink hitting a pedestrian checking in on him, realizing he's still alive going back to the car, returning with an axe and then finishing him off?

Out on the Indian Ccean, the chinese peoples (taiwan and china) have "claims" over ocean areas to harvest all the fish. Small fishing boats can get shot at and at least one has been sunk with all hands lost. You can be there first with your nets, but you are required to leave when they want the fish. There was an investigation but the taiwan government stonewalled it.

Not sure how you got to that conclusion. Why would this occur at 1.3 billion population and not at 300 million population? Where's the line where things suddenly change? And why would it be nationally limited? There's already about 7.5 billion people on the planet. FYI the lower 48 states could grow to a population of 1.85 billion and still only have the population density of current day Germany, and Germany isn't particularly unlivable and actually has more orderly traffic than the US. They're absolutely fucking empty.

Nathaniel Powell
>Except the people actually hope that they will get hit by somebody with a nice car so they can sue That's actually a common scam in South Africa. The blacks down there will have someone video recording and someone then runs out in front of your car to get hit. If you drive off, that is hit and run. If you stop and get out of your car, well, you are now surrounded.
Picture: The car mod below is legal in south africa due to the huge number of crimes.
Grayson Scott
>Can you imagine this in North America? Killing the witness/victim isn't as necessary.
There's mandatory insurance in north america and people pretty much do carry insurance unless it is illegal immigrants who just hit and run because they cannot stay for the police to identify them.
Lucas Butler
>City claims insurance loss and citizens buy a new police vehicle The police cars are not insured for damage to themselves but for damage to OTHERs. That's because my city maintains and rebuilds the cars as needed. It has a rather large machine and mechanics shop. Basically, the taxpayers "insure" the police car's continued functionality. So every time rioters trash a car, it's the taxpayers who will buy a new one along with all the updated new accessories.
The city council then has to cover budget overruns of the jail, courts, and police by reducing the budgets of things like road repair. It's easier to have potholes or cracked and rutty streets than to not have police, courts, and jails.
As for insurance, the police depot has its own extensive repair, rebuild, and bodywork facilities. It would be pointless to insure for theft or damage to the car. Insurance would be for damage to others. But there are plenty of cases of cities declaring bankruptcy after a bunch of lawsuits have piled up over a bunch of years and those lawsuits could no longer be delayed.
Isaiah Long
Have you ever been to /k/? Most of them believe that in a self defense situation, you should shoot to kill, because it'll make your court case easier somehow, and the family can't sue you for as much for similar reasons -- to bury a guy is a lot cheaper than paying for the diapers and wheelchair he'll be shitting in for the rest of his life after you shot him nonfatally in the spine.
This is a little different -- going doctrine for cops and even soldiers across the world is that if you're pointing a gun at someone, it's because the time for talk is over and a nigga is going to get ventilated. even in Canada in the Forces, they say that basically once you point a gun at someone, it's deadly force, don't bother with warning shot or shooting in the leg bullshit. Most of it doesn't work, anyway, since leg shots are actually really often fatal (there's lots of big ol' arteries in there and just tons of blood vessels in general so it's easy to bleed out) and shooting a guy in the arms is probably gonna nail him in the chest anyway, or you'll whiff. and warning shots still break stuff and have a chance of ricocheting into something or someone innocent, which is even worse than meme leg shots
doesnt this happen with bike messengers in New York a lot?

>In April a BMW racing through a fruit market in Foshan in China’s Guangdong province knocked down a 2-year-old girl and rolled over her head. As the girl’s grandmother shouted, “Stop! You’ve hit a child!” the BMW’s driver paused, then switched into reverse and backed up over the girl. The woman at the wheel drove forward once more, crushing the girl for a third time.
>This 2008 television report features security camera footage of a dusty white Passat reversing at high speed and smashing into a 64-year-old grandmother. The Passat’s back wheels bounce up over her head and body. The driver, Zhao Xiao Cheng, stops the car for a moment then hits the gas, causing his front wheels to roll over the woman. Then Zhao shifts into drive, wheels grinding the woman into the pavement. Zhao is not done. Twice more he shifts back and forth between drive and reverse, each time thudding over the grandmother’s body. He then speeds away from her corpse.
>In 2010 in Xinyi, video captured a wealthy young man reversing his BMW X6 out of a parking spot. He hits a 3-year-old boy, knocking the child to the ground and rolling over his skull. The driver then shifts his BMW into drive and crushes the child again. Remarkably, the driver then gets out of the BMW, puts the vehicle in reverse, and guides it with his hand as he walks the vehicle backward over the boy’s crumpled body. The man’s foot is so close to the toddler’s head that, if alive, the boy could have reached out and touched him. The driver then puts the BMW in drive again, running over the boy one last time as he drives away.
>In Sichuan province, an enormous, dirt-encrusted truck knocked down a 2-year-old boy. The toddler was only dazed by the initial blow, and immediately climbed to his feet. Eyewitnesses said that the boy went to fetch his umbrella, which had been thrown across the street by the impact, when the truck reversed and crushed him, this time killing him.

In China, multiple-hit cases are treated as murders. So these news are out-of-date. Even if they escaped the jaws of justice, the Lynch mob outside their house and the social humiliation everyday will ensure they get what they deserve.

Lucas Rogers
No it doesn't, this doesn't exist anywhere else to my knowledge. While it's obviously deplorably to leave the scene of an accident, accidentally hitting someone or something then fleeing isn't nearly as evil as actually murdering someone in the first degree by repeatedly driving over their head. Reading that article made me sick to my stomach.
Charles Richardson
>the Lynch mob outside their house and the social humiliation everyday >will ensure they get what they deserve. If this is true, why would the continually run over the victim? >Don't cops apply the same reason in the US when shooting people? You have it backwards and sideways. The police aren't allowed to brandish in my city. So that means their reaction time is pushed to the limit since they cannot pre-draw in anticipation of an upcoming deadly situation. This was the result of racial discrimination protests. Basically, the SJW and black activists wanted the police to have more jeopardy to their careers balanced against risk of being killed for being slow to draw.
It worked. A lot more police became shot as the perpetrators were often allowed to draw and fire their weapons first.

Thats what you get when insurance isn't mandatory.
Connor James
>Thats what you get when insurance isn't mandatory. China is also the land of loophole contracts. So even if there is insurance, there's noo guarantee it will pay out if there are too many claims filed. If claims exhaust the front money of the shell, then that's the end as the real wealth was moved into other corporations and untouchable.
Shell takes premiums from 10 clients at $100 per annum. Shell has total of $1000 disbursable assets. Shell hires GivemeObsceneProfitsCorporation_owned_by_founder for $200 consult & services fee, hires GiveScamProfitsCorporation_owned_by_founderWife for $50 consult & services fee, hires OffspringScamProfitsCorporation_owned_by_kids for $50 consult & services fee. There is only $700 of disbursable assets now and less if one considers the Shell also hires the CEO and officers at high salaries. As long as actual services were rendered by the scam corporations at those obscenely high fees, there's nothing that can be done.
Similar things occur in the USA for politicians who cannot legally accept bribes. So they set up non-profit charitable Foundations and the various companies and billionaires donate money into those charities. The charities are run by family and friends of the politicians and the controlling votes are too. So that corp can hire Politician to give honorarium speech for $500,000 USD every 2 months, another $100,000 honorarium speech each month, and small public relations speeches for $50,000 each as needed each week. What voters don't realize is that these honorariums can be combined with normal events as long as they are not on government property. So, let's say Politician visits your hurricane devastated area and gives a speech at the school gym serving as temp shelter for displaced people. That speech could be sponsored by the charity and give a honorarium to the Politician. But voters and displaced people don't know that and think that it is good the Politician came out to empathize.

>That sort of shit >Mexico There a lot of untreated anime and human fecal waste in the dry hot climate. It becomes dry and blows in the wind as a dust. In places full of homeless encampments like Mexico City, the feces create a dust that is a major part of the smog and dust cloud over the city.
In places and homes that don't vacuum frequently, there might be more fecal dust indoors than outdoors. Truly, a testament for cross-contamination in peoples' homes and hotel bedding.

It's not a belife, its how the legal system works/ If you use a gun, it's already seen as use of deadly force, even if you use something traditionally viewed as non lethal like rocksalt. If you shoot someone in the leg, the prosecutor will try and skin you alive because they'll claim that you didn't actually fear for your life, and push to get you on attempted murder.
If you rightfully shoot someone breaking in, and they are injured, they can still make your life a pain in the ass by trying to sue (despite how retarded it is) you because he was a good boy going to college, now he's paralyzed with medical bills. At least if they are dead, they don't talk and it makes the whole process simpler.
Liam Sanchez
>Also what's with those graphics? Don't know about them and what years they are for, but it is clearly socioeconomic and not purely economic. My corp has offices and parts factory in mexico. When a coworker went there for a time, as part of the acclimatization package, there were warnings about kidnapping of foreign workers for ransom. So he had to always look non-wealthy and basically not show power level. Maybe the problems of being wealthy in mexico also include ransoms, so that would certainly decrease quality of life if despite all your wealth, you cannot easily travel a lot of your country without fear of being napped.
Adrian Howard
Ransom is certainly a problem, specially in the south and center regions, but it is getting better and safer, the most frequent kind of ransom is something we call "secuestro express" or express ransom and it involves a wealthy person and two or more criminals taking that person to an ATM to give them money.
Ransom as in taking a human been is way rarer though, like, I heaven hear of a case of ransom in my city for years, with the exceptions of self-ransom to get money from parents and the ones that look like ransom but where actually narco disappearances of rivals.

Having lived in Taipei for 6 years, my #1 fear was getting hit by a car. It's the only country where even if its a one way street - you still need to look in both directions to cross, or you might die. When an accident happens - people in Taiwan do assist, but in mainland China they mostly just stop and stare. The reason is because many people have been sued for Not even having anything to do with the accident. Like helping a person stand up, and the old fuck now blames you for their injuries not the car driver.
Isaac Lee
The court system is a joke - its all about compensation and not jail time. So yea, it is better to kill the person unfortunately.

>high risk high reward If you don't have a moving target, you will lose your company as all of its products are duplicated once you transfer your technology rights to them. For some items, the chinese government requires you transfer rights. That outside any contract negotiations and may not be used in the price negotiations with the chinese factory. It's one way China acquires intellectual property rights to create duplicate products a year later after initial production for the original creator of the product.
In a number of cases, the original company met its demise as the "legal pirate" cannibalized the market and weakened the original company enough to then buy the original usa company up.
