F-16 is semi fly by wire though. So the car equiveant would have electronic steering.
F-16 is complete FBW, F-15 is semi.
Although it's probably not as advanced as the FBW of modern fighters (compare the F-16's AoA limit vs the one on the super hornet or rafale).
C/D Models have a quadruplex fully digital FLCC.

My mistake. Bong here, more familiar with our jets since our lightning was completely oldschool way of flying.
Car equiverlant of FBW would be electronic steering. So trying to find an F-16 equiverlant as a car would have to be modern and most modern cars are heavy as fuck.

40-50000lbs MTOW isn't that much relative to other jets. And it's also pretty reliable, especially compared to the planes it replaced.
And yes, it's a lightweight fighter, although in the upper range of its class.
It's just that when you need a decent range, weapons carriage and electronics, planes tend to get that big.
A MiG-15 is pretty tiny, but it can barely fly for 2 hours at a time, only has its guns and has no computers inside.
