A long-lost family member and fellow gearhead leaves you some money in their will. They say you can spend $5000 on a car, any car, and then they leave you a garage and a huge budget to fix it up and modify it to your heart's desire with a few rules.
1. You can swap the engine, but only with an engine that was available in the car at some point in its production year. 2. You must keep the powered wheels the same as they were from factory, no RWD civics 3. It must come in a manual transmission.
basket case e39 m5 with lots of simple mods does rule 1 allow me to swap in an s85 or can i just use e39 engines? if i can't,probably i'll go with a supercharger
Luis Kelly
>they leave you a garage and a huge budget to fix it up and modify it to your heart's desire with a few rules >a few rules >rule 1. absolutely no fun allowed >rule 2. even less fun allowed >rule 3. HEY EVERYONE JUST SO YOU KNOW WHERE I STAND ON MANUAL VS AUTOMATIC, I CHOOSE MANUAL
Go fuck yourself, OP.

>buy this 1974 Ford Granada hearse for the equivalent of $2700 >is RWD and manual >is one of the two model years when it was available with a 302 Windsor V8 in South Africa so I can swap that in >fix it up real nice >Euro custom V8 four door panel van >Aussies doing the Sandman shuffle in my honor

E30 325i >strip it down to the chassis >reinforce the frame >Powdercoat chassis >Built M20B31 stroker, relatively conservative tune >replace all rubber with delrin/hard poly as appropriate >Reinforce and powdercoat suspension parts >5 lug swap using E36M front and Z3M rear parts (E46 M3 front brakes, Z3M rear) >custom coilovers, stiff but not excessive >Thicker sway bars >carbon body panels, a little wider than a stock M3 >Completely restored interior with 80s recaros
>blueprint all custom parts and process along the way >Open up a shop offering the service, kind of like Singer but for E30s

1988 RX-7 Turbo II >Rebuild engine with a half bridge port >Upgrade turbo to a 6266 or something >Add supporting mods like an upgraded radiator, intercooler, clutch, etc. >Repaint and replace interior/exterior parts as necessary
Asher Brown
It means he was either hired to take a survey or is asking for advice.
Luke Miller
>m20b31 for what purpose?
Chase Long
'Thicker sway bars' and 'stiff' coilovers tells me you don't actually know a lot about cars
Oliver Russell
Buy a 74 Coupe DeVille, put the 500 bigboi and a T56 in it, build the 500 to do 1000 horse and take it to a dragstrip
Sebastian Rogers
>huge budget to fix it up >740li and fix everything

Porsche 944 whose previous owner forgot to change the second cambelt, so the engine ate itself. Save it by either transplanting a 968 Turbo S-spec drivetrain or put in an Audi inline 5 turbo and 968 6-speed transmission.
Jordan Mitchell
I bought this 87' 325 M20 5 speed for $200, so I'd probably drop $2000 on an overhaul and the rest on another Miata.
Colton Ross
well, they never came with m30s or m50s so...
Asher Mitchell
Well throw one in there. Nani the fuck?
Julian Brown
Read the OP. OP is retarded.
Chase Reyes
Welp didn't read the OP properly, guess it's the 968 Turbo S-spec drivetrain then as it should be possible to do with a regular 944 Turbo block.
Connor Perry
>FD3S >20B peripheral port >balanced and clearanced everything >dowelled >10k rpm >dry sumped >carbs and a mechanical pump, no EFI >old school magneto + dizzy ignition >zero electronics in the car aside from headlights and signals
Benjamin Baker
>zero electronics So no spark plugs?
Nolan Evans
Also when the fuck did an FD come with the 20b??
Grayson Rogers
>magneto + dizzy ignition
I don't care for OP's stupid restrictions. The 20B came in Mazda Cosmos of the same year so that's good enough.
Christian Richardson
Spark plugs contain no integrated circuits so they are not electronic, just electrical. Electronic specifically implies the presence of logic circuitry, like an ECU.
Elijah Lopez
I see
What exactly would you gain from that setup? Wikipedia says it’s used in racing engines, but I haven’t the faintest idea why. Seems like it’d make the car even more difficult to operate from a cold start or low RPMs.
Nathaniel Gomez
You wouldn't gain anything, but I think a 100% mechanical car with no computer controls is just a cool thing. Simple
Brayden Turner
soiboi cant drive stick
how cute
Alexander Bennett
OP wouldn't let me use an M30, euro S50, or s54 ;(
Colton Lopez
...
Jace Reyes
What's wrong with that, other than I can't provide the ideal spring rates/rebound ratio for the coils without doing some serious testing? 2mm thicker than stock sways (and beefed up mountpoints) and somewhat stiff springs/shocks have all but eliminated the body roll in my E30
Nathan Gray

oh yeah, forgot about that rule. an s14 turbo build would be cool
Jayden Bailey
Where do you find an e34 for $5000 or less??
Parker Williams
>E30 325i Where you gonna get one for $5000? Literally every non convertible one I can find on craigslist is crazy bullshit like $10k
Drift tax now applies to E30
Samuel Roberts
I won't get jack shit for 5k in my country, maybe an old chevette
Nathaniel Parker
I buy a W124 300TE wagon pre facelift
Swap in the 5.0 DOHC V8 that was offered on the 124 500E
Supercharge it
Euro light conversion
Borbet Type A wheels or 3 piece AMG monoblocks, color matched to body which would be either black or dark grey/silver
SLS all around not just in back
Dual exhaust
LED interior light conversion
Burl wood trim conversion from 300CE instead of beech wood
Some sort of manual adjustment for the SLS in the cabin, change ride height, stiffness, etc.
SL R129 brakes conversion
Fuck me,
The perfect car. A supercharged V8 Benz wagon in manual.
Evan Scott
or you can simply make turbo M104, and easy have 500HP daily
Nolan Myers
I would buy a crashed burnt out Lamborghini
Owen Murphy
Nah I like the V8 sound. Dont get me wrong I have a 300CE with an M104 and I love the engine, but I like a big supercharged V8.
If I had to keep an engine available ONLY on the 300TE (not 124 in general) then yes I'd do the 3.2 M104 with a big turbo.
Jayden Williams
>5000$ Porsche 924 S >1. You can swap the engine, but only with an engine that was available in the car at some point in its production year. 924 S engine, overbored to 104mm and stroked to 88mm with 944 DOHC head and a turbocharger entirely out of 1980s Porsche parts bin. Alternatively: 924 S engine modified to make it a V-8 again and a turbocharger. (924S had the engine from the 944, wich was based on the 928s V-8) >2. You must keep the powered wheels the same as they were from factory, no RWD civics No problem, RWD is fine. >3. It must come in a manual transmission. 1980s slushboxes where shit anyway...
Additional mods: >new tires >flat undertray >rear diffusor >aerodynamic fiberglass bumper with front splitter and adjustable air intake (simmilar tor the 924 Carrera GTR) >924 turbo front air inlets >vents on end of hood to release cooling air >more narrow drivers seat >stronger headlights >partialy covered rear wheels >bluetooth compatible radio >speedometer up to 450 km/h >968 gearbox with LSD
