How come people trade in their car after 2 to 3 years?

How come people trade in their car after 2 to 3 years?

Why doesn't anyone want to keep their car for over 10 years?

Warranty goes out of date. Non-enthusiasts would rather have a reliable car with hassle free maintenance than maintain a single car for years.
Plus newer cars are designed specifically to go to shit right after the warranty period.

New car, same payment.

Also this Most people lease or finance instead of buy nowadays.

>Same payment

This makes no sense. I've had the same car for 10 years and almost 300k miles with no maintenance other than brakes and changing the fluids. I have no car payment or repair bills.

I never understood why anyone would do this continuous trade in cycle over leasing though.
I also hope Ford's car service plan concept works out for them. For the uninformed, you rent a car for a certain milage every month like a cell phone plan with minutes or data packages. I think a fiesta is like 450/mo for 900 miles and that includes insurance and maintenance, which is ridiculously cheap, I don't see how they can even profit from it.

wow well then i guess everyone in the world should live according to your anecdotal evidence huh
im glad we now live in this new magical land where all cars go ten years with zero maintenance and never break down

Dad's like this. He'd rather have a new car that's under warranty with fixed, scheduled payment that he can plan on for years than even one unscheduled expense of a variable amount. To hear him tell it, he plans where every dollar goes for the next 5 years minimum.

I'm on year 5 of owning my c6 corvette OP, going on year 6

Renting out a 3 year old 10,000 fiesta for 400 a month seems like a good way to make money. In 2 years or 3 years ( I imagine the rent fee goes down as the car ages) you have paid for the car and still have a car to sell.

I feel like selling drugs is much more efficient

looks like year 5 of not cleaning it too

t. angry german car owner

I went rallying before storing it for the winter ;P

looks like someone's got some sand in their vagina

nice argument

Beats me, I've kept my 2 cars for 10 years. Doing so allows one to keep enough money for the next one.
I can keep a car maintained with regular fluid changes and brake pads. But some things happen that are a little above my technical ability. I traded in a 10 year old Suzuki because I couldn't get it running again, multiple issues and each component cost around $300. The car wasn't worth it at that point. Got rid of a RAV4 after 12 years after lots of issues with the engine coolant system. If the water pump wasn't working the coolant was either leaking into the piston or the anti-freeze coolant wasn't mixing with water properly and freezing in the system.

Corporate finance guy here.....

You should own new cars for either 2-3 years max, or drive them into the ground for 10+/-years. Nothing in between. These are the only routes to not ending up upside down with them.

I bought my last car new. Drove it for 9 years. If I had kept it any longer, it wouldn’t have had any trade in value, so I traded it in before mileage got too heigh for the dealer’s used lot. Of course, make, model and features, as welll as condition will have an impact on all of this. The car I traded in was a 6 spd first gen TSX in great condition. So it had a market where people were trying to find these. A 10 year old Nissan Juke would be another story.

Because according to women, owning things that aren't brand new are a sign of low status

That’s just frostella’s old corvette you liar.

Plenty of my familymembers buy used. Sometimes the car lasts for years without a hitch, and other times they have their first repair bill within a month.
I've already decided to skip that hassle, and just save up enough money to pay like half, and then finance the rest.

I'm the artist formerly known as Frostbyte dummy.

My father bought his first new car when he was about 25, a 1992 Honda accord Ex-R coupe. He kept it pristine and maintained it himself up until 2016, 24 years, where he gave it to me, and taught me how to drive stick, and do maintenance on it. I planned on keeping it until it ran into a significant mechanical issue or crash, but it was stolen and crashed about a week before my driving test, only got $1000 from ICBC. He helped me buy a used 2010 civic si coupe which we share, and home to keep on the road for another 10 years.

Is that a gril?

Are you that autistic fagget who keeps posting this dumb ugly whore on /pol/ with bait threads about millennials?

>drive them into the ground for 10+/-years
Two of my cars are 39 y.o. this year (1979s). They are still both going strong.

I'll remind her of this when she turns 30.

>debate me

Im on year 7 of my new car. I was going to keep it for 10 years but I am getting really tired of driving a sedan

>covering the license plate like anyone with the motivation couldn't find you in 10 minutes anyway

It's the greatest troll Veeky Forums has ever known.

Alphonse attempted it with gay furry porn.

Brosifine also attempted it by being a gay furry.

heartbreaker attempted it just by being a legitimate homosexual who drinks cum.

But none have trolled Veeky Forums harder than Frosty. He legitimately went to prison, got assraped, and became a tranny just to fuck with Veeky Forums.

That is commitment you will never understand. Some might say it's a mental illness. I would say that Frosty had an equal chance of running Microsoft.

main reason is servicing costs on a older car
>>more shit breaks: more repairs
yes not all cars do this but some people and businesses dont want to run the risk. its all about image for business
>>would you use a courier service or a carpenter that uses crapped out, cobbled together 30 year old vans?
no, neither would a lot of people.

i don't know anyone who trades their cars that often and I know people with enough money that they could, I think people who pay for their car in full keep it at least 5 years. Also I don't get why people upgrade their phone each year, I have even seen poor people do it.

you mean the AUTIST formerly known as frostbyte?

>I traded it in before mileage got too high for the dealer’s used lot

I checked KBB estimate on my car.
At 70k miles, it had an estimated value of ~11k.
At 80k miles, it had an estimated value of ~7k.
I checked this morning and 110k has an estimate of 4k.

This is over the course of a year, by the way, so it's just not depreciation on age.

You act like 10 years is a long time for a car to live...

I'm a dick girl, yes.

Good luck, I don't register my high value cars in my name so the feds cant confiscate them.

Thanks for noticing senpai

Schizo, not autistic ;^)

>tfw qt

Exactly what I did.

I went in knowing that ANY used car will need work, so I allotted cash for that. Then I tried to find a sweet spot between "old enough to be inexpensive" and "new enough to not be a money pit."

Post nudes

if you have a cute and feminine benis plz post it

>Brosifine also attempted it by being a gay furry.
You fucking wot m8?

>greatest troll
*second greatest

I'm the greatest troll on all of Veeky Forums. Nice try tho. Dumb bitch gets like last place lol

I sure do but I don't want a ban.

Closest I can go without getting banned user, sorry.

How tall are your door frames now frostelina??

Post them on imgur and link it

9 years into mine... its actually 13 years old, only 135k miles.
But just about everything is slowly degrading.
4 codes going.. probably sensors
master break cylinder whining
nasty crunching sound in the front end
Gas mileage is way down

Basically I am wondering if my 05 dakota is even worth putting any money into it at this point, maybe it would be a smarter decision to put that money towards something new, better gas mileage, cheaper insurance, not needing to be repaired...

Probably end up tossing the money at it because I dont really drive it and work gives me a truck.

same here faggot

How come this dude be uglier than Maggie Gyllenhaal?

Ugly beta males make ugly traps, it's just groce

plastic parts fail after 8 years

People think of cars as appliances. They don't care about their car like enthusiast do.

people like being forever in debt
I've never bought a new car, and with how they are nowadays, I never fucking will

>I'm a dick girl
No, you're just a dude playing pretend.

Then I pretend extremely well .

Nah dude. Ive been to jail myself and got along well with one just like Clair here. It's a man trapped in a female body. A brain disorder if you like. But it's for reals.
I might not have been attracted to the one I speak of (can't even remember her name now) but I know it's for reals. She didn't get the medical stuff before puberty hit but she always talked in a high pitch voice. That takes effort if your voice box has changed. She never slipped up.

Clair, maybe they're just good pictures you're posting, but I feel like I want to put my dick inside you. I'm confus. Pls stop

>But none have trolled Veeky Forums harder than Frosty.

this is true, Frosty is king

he is a role model, or she, or whatever the fuck it labels itself

>fatso actually wears a bra to carry his manboobs

top kek!

Female trapped in a man's body*

And you're confus because I'm a cute girl. Its okay. You're just learning new things about yourself.

Then how do you explain it if not that?

BTW you're not actually a girl. If you compete in the olympics they have a simple test do determine what's what. You can figure it out.
I was being nice but now I'm not going to anymore because you live on another continent. They're just cherry picked pictures with assloads of makeup.

I've only takes one selfie of myself in my life when I was high as fuck. I just don't have any pictures of myself or any things in my life. Kind of sad in that sense but I know what that makes me. An autistic male

Sorry you're right I said it the wrong way around. I'm a full bottle of red wine in. I drink that because it's cheap. I prefer wasting money on cars. Being forced off the green right now so that's what I do when that happens. And I'm about to go get another. Buh bye

The pic you responded to has no makeup. And I wasnt disagreeing, you just said it backwards and I corrected you :^)

>another pic with no makeup

Its fine, I kinda thought you were drunk :P

because old stuff is gay

Wtf is /tttt/ over fucking Veeky Forums as well? Go back to /mtfg/ you brainless slut

t. Twinkhon with new car they plan on keeping as long as possible

frosty don't foget we know your name and adress. Do not make me take up my phone.

brosifine pls go

Go for it fuccboi junior

My car is 11 years old now and I've owned it for 3 years. I feel like life is too short not to try out different cars and i can only keep one car at a time, so i want to move onto something else
