Lives in Europe

>lives in Europe
>isn't running LPG yet to get American-tier fuel costs.

Whats it like to literally burn your money away?

I'm not poor and diesels are a thing

Because the equivalent of spaghetti code.

still twice the cost m9

But I do
>tfw 170 hp I6 with the fuel costs of a small diesel
Feels good man

I do, but the Dutch caliphate only likes sub 1050kg cars with LPG. The tax for my 1400kg landbarge is 140 / 3 months on petrol, 300 / 3 months on LPG

Im a Burger with a CNG civic the thing is cheaper than tap water to drive. Eat shit eurocucks

>tfw coworker has a Ram SRT10 on LPG

Doesn't tap water have more energy density? 80's propane trucks were gutless pigs. People hate modern propane powered school buses and garbage trucks because they're gutless pigs. Have fun not being able to park in parkades.

had one, was regulated the best way it could be to run, still had problems on cold starts, my car in colder days was impossible to start, then there is the problem that the lpg tank has to be legalized every 5 years, you pay extra at the yearly inspection, there is more to go wrong in the engine, not every car likes lpg and also i had no gauge so i had to remember to refuel every 300 kms and it was a pain overall. Now i have a petrol car, it may be bit more expensive but it just fucking works, and thats how a car should be. Also lpg is considered a poorfag fuel

I don't even like running my BBQ off propane. Lots of people have NG lines on the patio.

Lol doubled road tax because FUCK nice things

Hoi

How come you nederlanders tax on a 3 month basis? Also where are you located mate?

The biggest drawback is the boot space.

Cold starts is a problem with your car, not LPG. Unless you had some ghetto rigged old-school that didn't allow the fuel to be switched, you should not have any problems with starts.

Also
>being influenced by what people think
Ishiggydiggy

i had an lpg camper
it was slow as shit so i got rid of it and now i have a diesel camper that's also slow as shit but not as bad

Can any car be converted to LPG?

When I pull in to motorway service stations and see petrol at like £1.30/L and LPG at 60p/L it really makes me think.

I have a Volt and never really use petrol much but if I had to get an ICE again I would deffo get LPG if its that much cheaper to run.

If it ISN'T direct injection it is no problem. There are liquid injection systems that don't even require vaporizers that ARE direct injection and they improve both mileage and performance, but they are a lot more expensive and I can't give any advice on them, since i have worked only with "venturi" and vapor phase injection ones.

Someone show lpg explosions those are always fun

...

>live in Canadafornia
>run premium fuel at $3.30 a gallon
>get like 25mpg average out of a 4.3L V8
>shit all over cuck boxes and not give a fuck about fuel costs

succs power

fucking kek

I know how to work on a normal car.

How is an LPG car going to be different? Are they harder to work on? More dangerous?

----------

Also as a side note, nobody sane is commuting by car so your OP does make much sense.

This country is shit for anything related to cars.

Unless you have a car older than 1978. Then you can do anything you want with it.

>buys camper
>expects it to not be slow

user they're exactly the fucking same as a petrol car. shit, you get cars that can run on both petrol and LPG.

Can't work on the fuel system yourself since it's high pressure.

What exactly do you mean by that?

feels good desu

Thinking of converting my 4afe to lpg or just selling the car because no matter how economical I drive I can't do more than 450 km on one tank before the yellow light comes on. Fuck you toyota.

Just install a long range auxiliary fuel tank.

the problem is high fuel consumption despite the fact the engine is in good condition, not small fuel tank

My uncle has his F-150 on LPG. Pretty boss.

You hwat?

It's truly retarded how free motorcycles are though
>hah, mandatory annual check? Only for 4 wheels man
>emissions? Nah go and straight pipe that bike
>retardedly loud duc that has plastics preventing electrodes from touching the engine? Good on you man the cops can't legally charge for with excess noise
For some reason da bolis needs to calculate noise from measured engine rpm
>Want a noice diesel commuter car? Gotta have that SCR, (pre-)cat(s), DPF. Think of the children user
meanwhile
>YOU WANNA BE HEKTIK ON A 2SMOKE? GO AHEAD BREHHHH RENGDENGDENGDENG HAHAHAHAHA SICK BRUH

But I totally agree user, pricing, taxes and everything around (nice) cars is truly beyond insane

Because at the moment my daily driver is a reliant robin and I get 60 mpg. When I eventually get a real car with the correct number of wheels maybe I'd consider it

my car is underpowered enough as it is now on petrol.. over here LPG refueling stations have to be at least XXX meters from a residential building because of the explosion hazard so i have to drive out of my way to bumfuck nowhere to find one. i also like my boot space and the disgusting look on the face of the lexus driver behind me when he smells all the crap my barge is throwing out of the exhaust

>living in europe
we don't live, we're exist in agony

...

Yet small diesels comfy make 170hp and get around 5.5/

Don't forget you'll use around 30% more unless you've got a wet injection system then it'll be around 20% and add the install costs to your ongoing fuel bill, they take a long time to make their money back.

Source:
>My Ass
Venturi systems are reported to use 20-30% more.
>I can verify that, since over 10 of our cars have had these types of systems and mileage may vary from engine to engine.
Gas injection systems if tuned properly can go as low as +10% at which point is almost indistinguishable.
>My current car has some Italshit brand LPG conversion kit and it hovers around 15% and others have reported the same.
And don't get me started on the liquid injection, because it can both be more fuel efficient and make more power, since you are spraying super cold fuel into the cylinder.

I was a gas fitter until about 08 when liquid injection was pretty fresh.

>no boot space/no spare tire
>engine is a mess
>won't work as effectively with *chargers
>wears out the engine faster
>literally no power
>need some professional technician to take care of because hurr special tools
>mileage depends on weather
>fucks up normal engine vacuum properties

Ownership and new cars are stupidly expensive, but mods are surprisingly unrestricted. Don't do a complete fucking hack job, make sure your lighting is sorted and you're pretty much free to register your newly V8-swapped Twingo without issue.

utter bullshit

you can make everything by yourself like changing the filters
the valve to the gas tank is shut, you drain the small amount auf gas that is in the lines and you are free to go.
just don't smoke while doing that

I want one on my 2001 Audi A6 quattro
2.4 V6 30v
I did the math and the whole thing would pay off in 10 months and even if LPG kills the engine(which i dont believe) i only need another 5 months for that to pay off as well.
Reasons why im not rushing it with LPG is
>quality install is 900-1000€ for a 6cyl
>poorfag smell if there is a gas leak
>extra maintenance that has to be done at a specialised shop
>"purists" looking down on LPG
>low quality gas in eastern europe
Now with gasoline being 1.25€/liter im saving up for a LPG system but its hard when i burn through 50€ in 2 days by doing donuts and sick snow doriftos

Every petrol car can run on LPG, to be exact.

also you'll have to keep it below 4k revs at all times

that makes no sense at all

His comment was pretty broad but generally it does make sense, a lot and I mean a lot of converters have pretty low throughput and won't handle heaps of HP, you can ofc get dual converters and there are some higher flow ones available.

Legally where I live you can't, work involving anything related to the high pressure side of the converter needs to be signed off by a qualified LPG installer, otherwise you're insurance is automatically voided.

you can't just floor an lpg, it will blow up

That is extremely dependent on the LPG system itself. Most 6 cylinder systems that are quality do not suffer from this.
My father's Polish piece of shit does shut off, but it's because it costed him less than 200 Euro.
Legally you can't service your car yourself in front of your condo, doesn't mean that you can't.

i know a guy with a e39 535i V8 and all he does is floor that shitbox and it hasnt blown up in years.
What exactly will blow up?

>have a 25 year old mercedes
>convert it to lpg for eqivalent of $700 in polski shekelz.
>have equivalent of 75mpg compared to US fuel prices.
running costs:
>$200 insurance a year
>$10 for yearly inspection
life hacks:
>work in glorious germany and live like the king of slavs back home

kek'd

The difference is one is a slap on the wrist and the other is a written off car with no payout, sure you can work on it and nobody will know if you leave it original but here if it's modified from the original fitout - which is registered in a database you're fucked in the event of a crash.

Netherlands here, we have higher taxes on LPG cars, it's only worth it if you own a very light car (because tax goes by weight), a 40 year old classic (exempt from road tax) or a work vehicle that can fit a Europallet (partially tax exempt).

Diesels make less power though.

>Cold start problems
Sounds like an older single point injection system. Multipoint and direct injection are obviously superior. Also, some countries don't offer a good winter mixture (more propane) that allows for better combustion in a cold engine.
>Tank inspection
Does not apply to all countries
>More to go wrong
Only on flexfuel systems.
>not every car likes LPG
No, not all installations are done properly.
>LPG is considered poorfag fuel
Then why does it have a higher octane rating, better intake charge cooling, and makes more power when properly tuned? It's the Euro equivalent of E85.

fuck that sounds comfy. Lucky polack living so close to the border.
So you have no additional taxes? afaik most civilized countries have taxes included in the fuel price but mine has both yearly tax at the inspection and absurd fuel tax.

no taxes on the car itself, just the tax included in the fuel price
the motorways have a toll fee but on my usual routes the are good ways to drive around those on country roads with just 10% longer driving time.

>tfw grijs kenteken 5.7 HEMI
Voelt goed man.

You can set it to automatically collect every month, but if you don't do that the government sends you a bill every three months. No idea why.

Our government is retarded.

>the motorways have a toll fee but on my usual routes the are good ways to drive around those on country roads with just 10% longer driving time.
geez dude, way to be a bean counting gypsy

>>no boot space/no spare tire
Modern cars don't come with a spare anyways
>>engine is a mess
You can buy a brand new car with a LPG installation from the factory with a complete warranty. Reliability has greatly improved.
>>wears out the engine faster
Maybe if you have an ancient SBC, modern engines can take it.
>>literally no power
Colder intake charge, higher octane - of course it makes more power if you properly tune it.
>>mileage depends on weather
Mileage depends on propane/butane mix.

>You can buy a brand new car with a LPG installation from the factory with a complete warranty.
What manufacturer?

>>"purists" looking down on LPG
Biggest bullshit argument right there.

Only if you have a shit installation which can't flow enough fuel. Which is a majority, unfortunately.

for that money I have a really nice lunch and drive just 30 mins longer

Both Ford and Holden in Aus when they were still making cars.

GM mostly, with the Opel Mokka and Corsa iirc. Also, Audi offers their g-tron versions, and you can get plenty of US pickups as grey improt with full dealer warranties (that are equivalent to manufacturer warranties) with an LPG kit already installed and warrantied through the dealer.

>*explodes*
stop being poor and buy petrol, you cuck

E85 is way more efficient and convenient. + it’s cheaper.

>E85 is way more efficient
Heh, it's not only less energy by weight, it's less by volume by a large margin.

And you stop living in the early 2000s

the lpg was dangerously slow and underpowered
the diesel was reasonable

>buy v8
>run it on LPG

How can this get any better?

But E85 is the E85 of europe
Where are you from that you dont have it?

>tfw go to Iceland
>rent a brand new 0 miles turbodiesel X5 for cheap because the car I requested before I landed wasn't available and I had 3 other people with me
Ended up paying 180 USD every day to fill that bitch up
