Daily reminder that the fastest personal vehicle per unit of money will always be a motorcycle.

Stock ones run a 14.2
Ones with a Downpipe, Uppipe, and tune (stage 2, 290bhp) will run mid 13s.
Ones with a turbo swap (~300whp) will run mid 12s.

But you have to launch it hard to get those numbers and that's how you break a WRX trans.

If you want to go bigger than that, then you should just buy an STI which has a MUCH stronger trans. I actually like the Evo better, but here in the states they're generally more expensive to buy, maintain, and upgrade.

I say carb because who knows what junkyard engine OP would choose. If I was on the "have to build a car to get out of this junkyard" budget I'd pull an old 351c from a f-150. With the carb on it. Save money and avoid having a faulty injector, bad o-ring, and other things you couldn't necessarily fix there.

Injectors are niggerable items at junkyards and practically free from people parting cars out on craigslist (since they don't always know they're worth $100 a piece), as if they ever break.

A decent carb will run you more and be more likely to need new gaskets or a specialist after you fail to figure out what the fuck is wrong with the float.

I've driven some pretty fast cars before, and I've also ridden bikes from 250s to literpeters.

The amount of money and modification it takes to make a car keep up with a modern literbike would make that car functionally undriveable on the street. It is not possible. A 20 year old R1 will hit 100 in 1st gear in a little under 7 seconds.

This is very true. When I was toegaying, I ran the same road 20-30 times before I ever even thought about pushing. In a car, you spin out and you might fuck your car up, but you'll probably be fine. Two wheels, you're dead.

95% of bikers on the road can't corner for shit. If you've never needed knee pucks, you're not really riding for sport. That said, even if you're too shit to BTFO a miata, you can still pin the throttle on a straight highway and confuse the shit out of an R35 on your $3000 craigslist ZX6R with a floppy chain and squared off tires.

The most fun I ever had on a motorcycle was on a 300. They have the torque of a paper towel dispenser, but they weigh like 200 pounds and the intake geometry is so minuscule that throttle response is pretty much instant if you have modern EFI. You can sling those things around so fucking hard and they love every bit of it. Any 600 class would demolish it without any trouble at all, but something about it being so effortless just felt so right.

Speed's fun, but sometimes it isn't everything.

I still dream about owning a JDM CBR250RR. I had to stop riding a little over a year ago because someone pulled out in front of me and broke my leg. I miss it every single day. It's an itch that no car, no matter how fast or balanced, will ever scratch. I still don't walk quite right, and I probably never will, but I still miss it. Every day.
