cars that should have been made into rally cars but werent

i feel the r32, r33 and r34 wouldve given the lan evo and impreza a run for their money in the WRC championships. what they fall short on with their large bodies the skyline GTRs make up for in sheer power. they would be perfect for driving up mountains or through the snow

>thoughts that should have stayed inside your retard brain but didn't

The Skyline would absolutely suck in rally. Besides the Pulsar GTI-R is better.

This.
Also Rally isn't about power, everything's homologated and regulated to a certain power level anyways. It's all about maneuverability. Short polar moments of inertia, twitchy wheel bases, and ease of service in the pits.

DWB civics

there have been several AWD EF/EG/EK civics built using awd civic wagovan or CRV parts.

>you will never have a group b 600hp 2200lbs B18 turbo awd civic hatch

What's the best cheapo car to convert into an amateur rally car?

Thinking maybe Mazda FC or BMW E30 since they can be had barely running for extremely cheap.

The HICAS system was developed for RWD rally.

Wheelbase is too long.
Same reason they had to shorten the Ur Quattro when it became uncompetitive

Shit thread.
Power was limited to around 300HP around that time

Why exactly was the longer wheelbase bad enough to warrant a 1' reduction?

>over 2 litre
>part time 4wd
>heavier than evo, lancer, corolla, escort and delta
>relatively large

yep you achieved full retard

first gen micra
fwd is better than rwd for rally

implying you or anybody else here wouldn't drive the shit out of a skyline rally car

Wasn't sold in states.

I'm not aware of any of those comically small cars that were ever sold in the US and that would be cheap now.

Miata with lift kit

any of the lesser known toyota alltracs, eagle talon but have fun breaking down all the time, maybe steal the awd bits off an old mazda b series and try to slap them on a miata or some shit

nobody really runs rwd in amateur rally, usually you'd start in fwd and progress to awd. just buy a civic or a corolla or something common with an large aftermarket and available body panels for when you wreck.

so wrong it hurts

is it really? thats been my experience with rallying in my country

cheap e36's, mx5s, escorts, there are plenty of rwd cars rallied.

old rwd fords are one of the biggest group of rallies here, amateurs with the money to throw are all of the age to remember escorts.

If you're young maybe then there's a lot of cheap 90's fwd hatchbacks but also shitty e36 compacts and mx5's.

PT Cruiser GT with some minor mods. It’s a well balanced and good handling car, and stripped out you can get them down to about 2600-2700lbs.

yeah we have escorts and stuff but they're all in the classics group. never seen an mx5 at an event, a couple of 3 series' though. pretty much all 90s jap fwd's

Shit comment.
Your dicks power is limited.

Old Volkswagen Polo or Golf would be good desu

>from pigfat to pigfat
?

>Rolls the car in tight corners because the PT cruiser is so damn tall

That car is disgusting. All american cars of the 1990-2000 era were horrible, starting from insufferable chassis

>Approaches hairpin turn with old world stone halfwalls on eachside
>ENGAGE DRIFTO
>Fatass landbarge from Japan gets wedged inbetween walls

Disgusting, Yes. It was still making almost Golf R power though.

because you cant turn around sharp corners quickly in a long wheelbase car, like the gtr. thats why evo's and things in that nature are quicker than gtr's in sharper corners but dont do as well in longer/straights as the gtr.

go fuck yourself. as if the impreza and lan evos arent also large cars. they could also do something about the part time 4wd for the rally version

yaris TRD

>long wheelbase = stability
>short wheelbase = maneuverability

Unironically a Saturn ion, stock 5 speed you could get that bitch past 120 mph on dirt roads

Them ions could slide through tight spaces like a champ, excellent for them tiny ass """rally""" courses

youre talking to an user who is currently drifting a JSZ161 aristo (pic related) back and forth on shomaru pass on gran turismo 6 buddy.

inb4 video games arent the same as real life. GT6 is kind of close in my honest opinion

*JZS161 what the fuck is wrong with me today

They're rallying the Abarth 124 now.
