Their main issue is that they leave Edo constantly to defend shit near Kyoto, and it really stretches them too thin. I think the meta is to let Kyoto get taken, build up, and then conquer up to it.

decided to start with mercia since that's what i'm doing in M1TW
got some businesses running which i never have actually done, only got a village right now but i'm hoping to get a castle in the current war with east anglia
high village relation is really coming in handy, i've managed to take castles a few times due to being able to recruit loads and calling the levy

the only issue is that initial fine seems really low (2k when fief is nearby) and I can't say if they have some weekly upkeep. There is no "mongol hordes" position in budged report, but they might be added to fiefs garrisons upkeep, I have no idea

Here's short guide to mass-marriage (pardon my english).:

-you can make companions out of adventureous ladies only. They are easy to spot since they usually wear a fur. Be carefull with nordic ones, half of them wears furs even if they are total house hens. Also few of proper ladies don't wear fur (khergit ones wear kind of thick, grey kimon-like robe f.e.). The safest bet is to ask musicians.

-it's good if you have 10 persuasion or around. That's kinda obligatory here

-You need a castle or town

-You don't want to have good relations with the father, thanks to that you will have "lets marry despite all that shit" option in dialogue. You can persuade her to marry since she has 12+. They all will want to secret marriage and gtfo with you, but only if you have a castle/town. With 10 persuasion its very easy to talk them into marriage.
Meanwhile regular, legit to of marriage takes waay more time, step-fathers to be tend to change factions, which resets marriage quests, pain in teh ass in general/spoiler]

-these ladies like "Gloom that...." poem (5 points) and "Winds of Veluca" (3)

-after some time you'll run out of such ladies (appareantly). In fact there is still a dozen, but their fathers have low relations with king/other lords, the only way to meet such lady is too build up some relations with father or such untill he will agree for you meeting her. 5 relation points is usually enough, but sometimes they say that they "have better suitor" already. Don't worry and keep building up relations, they'll eventually agree for a meetings

-you can try to marry ladies from all factions ofc, no need to stick to your own

-time is your enemy here, these chicks are pretty few in general, and they will get married/left a realm over time. They are not as bitchy as "high standars" ladies, but they are pretty close, so it's -2 relation at start by default, unless you have quite some renown. ANd there is no time to build up renown.

-I liked to make them all combat characters, but they don't work well with the most time/skilpoints consuming combat builds, like Horse Archers. If you wanna try this way I advice to keep it simple.

-it's fun way to play, but it keeps you busy, so it might be not the best option if you have other, more important goals (like rush-conquer f.e.) . 2bh I have no idea, I always take my time, with wifes or without them

I thought perisno vassal life was pretty good, but fantasyshit might not be your flavor. It lets you build all sorts of improvements, swap fiefs, automate troop recruitment and training, etc.

Bannerlord seems to be trying to expand the sim elements by making towns more lively and putting odd emphasis on cultural gambling games. Hopefully this will extend to family life, especially if there is a child system in the game. If that is the case I would likely consider only having children after establishing a kingdom or waiting until the children are matured.

It would be great if Bannerlord released a video on spouses with emphasis given to a Khuzait waifu.
