Was planning on getting a 2008 A4 convertible or a TT until I learned about Audi being hot garbage. What should I get instead?

the answer to your problem is e46 m3

get a z4

>2008 A4 convertible or a TT
you're paying luxury price for a rebadged Jetta/Golf

these are correct
370Z or Z4
Or get a 350Z and use the rest to buy a light flywheel + good clutch and some good tires

yea i thought the same until i actually sat in one
theyre overpriced, but waaaay nicer than their vw platform brothers

Boxster if you want a convertible, even has a better German badge to boot

I too am looking at one of the two as a project, so far scouting for cheap offers
basically your choices are these:
B5 or b6 a4
>4 banger tarbo or v6
>Fits an inline5 comfortably if you ever want ungodly amounts of power
>Built like a tank
>Arguably the best AWD system around
>6speed can take thousands of horsepower, mates to any VAG engine (including lambos) and sqs sells a sequential kit for 500€
TT
>8ns can be found as low as 100€, Europe is flooded with them
>the 1.8 can be tuned to fuck and back extremely cheaply
>8js fit the 2.5 i5
>A modded haldex controller is a must, but they're cheap, make the car a blast to drive and surprisingly composed offroad
If they offered the 2.5tfsi with the standard 6sp I'd have a new one, but the benchracers killed it

>B5 or b6 a4
>>Fits an inline5 comfortably if you ever want ungodly amounts of power
Not without significant modification. All those mad straight 5 swapped B5s run either remote mount rads or some other crazy setup.

Wat
You need a remote radiator if you wanna compete
Not as in "you're too slow otherwise", but as "it's the fucking rules"
Still, both the 1.8t and 3.0 can be boosted to ridiculous levels

The 3.0 (redesigned 30V) is hot garbage, aluminum block can't take boost for shit and they made some of the oil passages too narrow so they clog up. Only useful part is the crank that you can use for a 2.7TT stroker build, and those can be boosted to ridiculous levels.

Have had a B5.5

The V6 is pretty nice, but you have TWBP services every ((75K)) and big 40K services. Engine itself was bulletproof, nearly all of the issues I had were sensors/emissions

Got to 224K with it, and after that it was driven by other people to 250K before the alternator went and the delaership it was towed to offered them $5,000 on the spot for it.
