What would prevent them from using the network model of another older quake, like nQuake or even Arena? Isn't the physics engine still mostly the same? Those games had network models that were able to hold up even on pieces of absolute shit for servers on the 90s internet. What are the differences? Have they switched from UDP to TCP?

What that user is saying is that you cannot BUY vanity items with shards. You either buy them with real world shekels or you get them in a chest. Todd Currency doesn't work in this case.

I like quake champions, but I don't really play fps games much, and used to be shit at them even when I did, in any match I am playing my only goal is to at least be better than the worst guy on the enemy team. Its pretty depressing, but I am way past the refund time limit
