The Minimum Wage Meme

>in college studying CS (not a burger so this is a viable industry)
>get tired of parents' constant nagging for me to get a job
>usual boomer directives "just walk in and give em a firm handshake!"
>wouldn't mind some beer money anyhow
>start sending out applications for minimum wage work, not picky in the least
>no callback after 9 months and countless applications
>realize I'll never get hired with a blank resume, so I embellish
>still nothing
>outright fabricate shit and create elaborate lies just to get my foot in the door
>it finally works, land a hospo job, and lo and behold, any dumb fuck with 0 experience could do the work
>despite working like a horse, I lose my job five months later because of the shady manager culture

Why do I have to Don Draper my way into scrubbing toilets? Nowadays, I'm getting offers for salaried internships left and right despite being an average coder with an average GPA.

What the fuck's going on here? Where did things go wrong?

idk m8, ive done the same. never got a call back. ive done shitty small whites lies on resumes and nothing.

too many worthless people competing for the same economic niche to sustain their detestable existence.

Minimum wage is good for drug dealers to network and find customers with a job. But to live off of only works if your on welfare and cheap gov housing

When the economy took a shit, many old people came out of retirement to work, usually at near minimum wage jobs. Or even if they are financially sound, get an easy job just to be occupied. Look at the employees at your fast food restaurants or grocery stores. There's full on 30-60 year olds doing jobs only teenagers were doing a decade ago.

Minimum wage shutters small businesses and keeps everyone from hiring more employees. So there's more demand for a single wage slave job, it's easy to go with the older people that are desperate to work more than gamble on a teen.

economic meltdown, credit expansion, regulations and taxes has poisoned the western world

inflation is noticeable, but hidden between state propaganda

the wealthier period has been accompanied by the bigger wealth transfers, wages don't grow
your savings earn you negative rates

the meme fiat economy is at its latest

Hence the entire reason im getting rich. Its a hedge for when the new Zimbabwe happens here in burgerland

You are asking for advice from the group most likely to think like you. The system isn't broken. Hell, it hasn't even changed. You know what most people do after college? Entry level jobs just above minimum wage. Always has been. My dad did odd jobs most of his life. He lucked into a great career in his 40s that boosted us way up economically.

Do your history. Even Rockefeller did shit jobs. Stop thinking you get to start at the top or even middle. Build experience show you work hard and keep looking. You will climb. I did data entry shit for years. Now I manage a sales team making almost double average family income. Took 10 years and a lot of overtime. I know I'll go higher in time. Because I work for it.

Your mindset puts you in a high paid spot without the effort and with no ambition to go higher. That will guarantee you never get there.

desu getting a job is too easy. just a couple months ago i applied for my first job at a local coffee shop which wasn't even hiring.
only place i even applied to and i got the job with zero work experience.

youre just lazy user...

why not just go to Wharton and get hired into some big hedge fund?
why wait 10 years for some lame ass 200-300k?

both of you completely missed the point. Did you even read the thread?

>have full-time, legit jobs & internships thrown in my face
>minimum wage puke scrubbing jobs won't even spit in my direction

This is what I'm taking issue with. That the min-wage job market has become such a clusterfuck with impossibly high expectations and such a bizarre, inhuman management system that I'm having an easier time landing a white collar software dev job making bank than wiping down tables for chump change.

I actually WANT to "start at the bottom", I feel like I shouldn't go through life without doing my time as a grunt.

>both of you completely missed the point. Did you even read the thread?
meant for you there, too

did you read my post? i said getting a minimum wage job was ass-easy.

>no callback after 9 months and countless applications

I was applying at a rate of at least 1 a day, every two days for a low estimate. That's well over 100 applications. What exactly constitutes being not lazy in this situation? Let me guess, walking in and giving 'em a firm handshake? Aggressively ringing and following up? I did all that. It'd get me a more positive response, but at the end of the day, I'd get told my lack of experience was a a dealbreaker

When I did get a job, it was because I had to fabricate years of (unnecessary) work history to scrub vomit. Whether or not I'm lazy hardly factors into this at all. Besides, this "if you don't get callback it's your fault, and you're lazy" meme needs to die.

I just can't believe it when people talk about how hard it is for them to find a job, especially minimum wage.
Every fast food place and grocery store has "now hiring" signs posted everywhere. I've worked maybe 4 different jobs and applied to each of them without a resume. I only didn't get a job once
Move to Wisconsin I guess.

This. I haven't been checked out of a Wal Mart or served fast food by a teenager in my town for years. I have to go to rural areas to find any semblance of a job market that makes demographic sense. Based on experience those markets are hugely based on nepotism.

at a publix near the highway near higher middle income had very vashionable 19-22 year old and a very disgusting 45 year old black aging male as a bagger

This is what happens when the government is allowed to create socialist policies, such as mandatory monopolies

I made $18/hour at age 19 as a junior sysadmin working for an MSP while getting my degree in economics. If you're making minimum wage or just above it right out of college, something is terribly wrong, either with your local economy or you.

Also, I can sympathize with OP. I couldn't fucking get a simple fucking call back for a job at a grocery store when I was 18, but somehow was able to get two job offers from two different MSP companies when I said "fuck it" and set my sights higher. I think it's that they know you're not going to stick around, and would rather have a directionless loser they could keep around for ~4 years. A CS major isn't sticking around after graduation, and is likely you'll jump for an internship before then.

never worked a minimum wage job. im in college and i get paid 10 dollars an hour for a job where I mostly sit in the back room and study.

losers.

You got a job on your first try. How can you be confident that your next 9 tries would of been successful?

Rofl. I'm sure your "real job" is going to be bottom bitch level shit. I wouldn't worry about it, you fucking dumbass

This!

>Regulations

Last I checked the economy got into this mess because of constant blocking of regulations towards CDOs and the derivatives market. I get that some aspects of regulations need to be eased up on (like the corporate tax rate) but too much deregulation seems to lead more towards a bubble than actual long term growth with minimal risk

What if I'm 20, starting at 15 an hour only worked for the company for a year. Thinking of going to college for business management and IT

>I think it's that they know you're not going to stick around, and would rather have a directionless loser they could keep around for ~4 years.

This is a good point, actually. The one job I did get, I had to assert I was there to stay in order to convince them to hire me.

This is the mindset of a poorfag who has been totally brainwashed by the system. You can and should start in the middle with a good degree or apprenticeship. Min wage jobs are to kill time while in school. Spending 10 years licking some supermarket managers ass is a complete waste and no career-tier jobs care about that at all

>, I feel like I shouldn't go through life without doing my time as a grunt

Are you retarded?

>Bragging about making 10$ an hour
The loser here is you.
