We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in Veeky Forums), however, all indie games are allowed. Expedition soon!

Styg never was very good with relese dates, was he.
Nolan Morgan
It was his first project so it's understandable. But yeah, still true.
Jacob Thomas
It's not that he's bad with them. It's just that when there is no publisher breathing down your neck, it's usually a good idea to move the release date in order to improve the game further.
If you want to see what happens when you don't move the release date, look at Gothic 3.
Brody Lopez
So I rewatched the earliest demo videos. Man, do I wish the high quality downloads were still available. By chance, does anyone have them saved?
Strange how different the atmosphere is compared to how Styg used to describe Underrail back then. The apocalypse may have happened a long time ago, but in its current iteration the future doesn't sound hopeless. You don't really get the sense the human race is dying and it could be all gone soon.
Makes me wonder if we had a Vancian apocalypse. Our sun died, and we survived only thanks to moving deeper, closer to the core. In a setting like that finding a new power source could truly make the difference between survival and extinction.
Dominic Lewis
All 3 of my doctors are sick, am I just fucked?
Hunter Scott
Yes I was just fucked

>Strange how different the atmosphere is compared to how Styg used to describe Underrail back then. The apocalypse may have happened a long time ago, but in its current iteration the future doesn't sound hopeless. You don't really get the sense the human race is dying and it could be all gone soon. I like to call Underrail post-post-post-apocalyptic, kind of like many people call Fallout:New Vegas post-post-apocalyptic.
In NV the apocalypse happened over 200 years ago and the humanity is at the stage of rebuilding the civilization, way beyond the stage of struggling to survive the aftermath of nukes.
In Underrail the apocalypse happened so long ago it's not even remembered by most people. Humanity is already past the stage of rebuilding, whatever made the surface uninhabitable has pretty much no effect on the residents of Underrail. All the misery and conflict in the South is completly unrelated to the apocalypse, it was cause by the revolution and overthrowing of New BioCorp.
Cooper Collins
>Makes me wonder if we had a Vancian apocalypse. Our sun died, and we survived only thanks to moving deeper, closer to the core. So you're telling me we're on Exosta, the player is a Guardian of the Noden and Tchort is actually a manifestation of Akbaa.
Makes perfect sense.
Levi Bell
And Sylib's fingers got doubled along with his douchebaggery.
Jordan Howard
I know how it is right now. This is why I'm saying how strangely different the current setting is. Well, he never went into much detail, but when you consider that what little he said was all the information we had about the setting and was what he considered most important to describe the general idea, that the story and setting was going to have a much larger scope before he decided to scale it back and rename to Underrail... Anyway, what I'm saying is that the way the setting is presented to us now is not how it started out. And it's something interesting to think about.

I found a copy of that game in Gamestop and the register rang it up as $0 so they just gave it to me

It worked thanks

Another (easy) job well done.

Darkest Dungeon worth getting while it's on sale?
Jeremiah Jackson
Finally got the GMS compound quest done. That took forever.
Yeah, so I've heard. Any tips before I head there?
Jeremiah Moore

Gabriel Lee
Finally I understand everything.
Owen Nguyen
You still have some way to go before you get there. For now explore Junkyard and its surroundings and do every quest you can, at least up until you gain access to Depot A.
Samuel Jenkins
If you have points is tailoring, visit the siphoner lakes (in the caves near Junkayrd), kill a few and make an armor out of their leather. It has a decent acid resist and that's usually what people struggle with the most. If you have points in tailoring and a bit in chemistry, make a mutated dog leather armor while in Depot A. Even better acid resist.
Alternatively get a tactical vest, firearms are second most common and dangerous weapon in there.
If you are using guns, bring JHP ammo. Every enemy in there except for robots has no mechanical DR/DT, so it's free bonus 40% damage. Especially useful against mutants because of their big HP pool.
Traps and grenades of all kinds help. especially frag and EMP.
Christian Gutierrez
Thoughts on this build? I want to do a psi-monk type character. I've played the game a bunch but never done a psi character.

>have time to work on underrail wiki >have no idea what's missing/wrong Please tell me why the wiki sucks, I don't remember anymore.
Connor Bell
Maxed Dodge/Evasion with AGI and Armor Penalty and only Tabis to boost it? For what purpose?
Anthony Young
Secret merchant items are missing
Noah Bell
The idea is to mitigate some damage through dodge/evasion, and use lightweight armour. I haven't actually played a character that put points into either skill before, and want to try it out.
Robert Bennett
Secret? You mean special merchandise?
Josiah Russell
Not enough lore and speculation.
Hunter Green
My bad, my starting AGI is actually 4, not 3. So no skill penalties.
Jeremiah Garcia
Most things are either missing or have very basic entries with little detail. Really shouldn't take too long to find something to work on.
I'm planning on improving all the armor and weapon pages, so far I only did leather and tactical vests.
Jason Cook
That's still not that great. The best case scenario is a 60% saving throw if your Dodge is the double of their combat skill.
Let's say your infused Tabis will give a 70 bonus so that's 205, with a 15% AP so 174.
Do you think enemies specialized in a weapon will only have half of that in their combat skill? Most likely your end game D/E will be much lower than their attack, not even on par. Well, you'll have Biology so boosting with Jumping Bean and Adrenaline is a given, but that won't help if you die before you'd get your turn.
Caleb Baker
Who is he barking at?
Samuel Perez
Doesnt have the secret containers listed
Joshua Ross
Yeah I guess without an AGI focused build dodge and evasion aren't all that great. That and I didn't even take any evasion or dodge feats to make use of those skill points. Maybe I could drop those two, pick up intimidation for yell, and put more points into either my crafting, or take some points in metathermics.
Isaac Wood
Not that user, but even then your dodge and evasion will be low-ish. General rule of a thumb is that it's not worth it unless you can reach 200+ at level 25. You will have 135 base, around 50-70 from tabis so that's around 200 at best, add the 15% penalty form the psi beetle vest with Nimble and you end up with 170.
>The best case scenario is a 60% saving throw if your Dodge is the double of their combat skill. That's not a good way to describe it. If your dodge/evasion are twice the attacker's skill, his precision will be reduced by 60% from the default which is 70%, leaving him with only 10% chance to hit.
That said imo dodge/evasion are not worth the investment. They are completly useless in majority of situations where you actually need your defenses the most- they drop to 0 when stunned/incapacitated/off-balance, don't work at all against the majority of psi abilites, etc.
Nathan Diaz
Second part meant for
Bentley Jackson
I won't be writing any speculation. I'd rather leave the quest guides and other subjective aspects to someone else if I could. Some of the writing is probably still ancient stuff imported from the old wiki.
Good, you do that. One thing off my mind. Basic entries is what you get with this manpower, but very few things are completely missing. Anything in particular bothering you?
The ones that don't show up on highlight? There used to be so many bugged containers like that during alpha development, I never knew which were intended to be secret. I think most of the intended secret ones contain oddities, except two lockboxes in Lower Underrail that just have some trash loot.
Hmm. Listing oddity locations on the oddity pages might be a good start, the oddity pages were added when the oddities were introduced and never really updated.
Nathan Wood
>Anything in particular bothering you? Missing NPCs. There is quite a few that don't even have a page. Especially those from Fort Apogee and Free Drones base. Also I don't think Masha is even on the list.
>Hmm. Listing oddity locations on the oddity pages might be a good start I was planning on doing that too, but go ahead if you want to, it will be some time until I'm done with armors and weapons. You can always ask here for help if you don't remember some of them.
Jason Scott
abscisin is working on NPCs.
If you have even a partial list of oddities, please post it. I don't have one, so I'd have to work on memory or datamine oddities placed directly in maps and leave others (ie. ones carried by NPCs like eddy) undocumented.
Alexander Walker
>tfw you hit an obsidian shrine in Necrodancer I was not prepared
Zachary Williams
>Also I don't think Masha is even on the list. Listed and has a page. Check all three lists at underrail.com/wiki/index.php?title=Characters (the less important chara lists are collapsed by default)
There's just so many characters they had to be split between important, mentioned-only and minor NPCs to keep the navbox lists somewhat readable.
Nolan Rogers
>abscisin is working on NPCs. Don't think he will mind if you create basic pages for missing NPCs. From what I've seen he's been mostly improving already existing pages, like replacing outdated pictures and such.
Other thing that kinda bothers me are the quality ranges on crafting components, but that would take a lot of work.
>If you have even a partial list of oddities, please post it. Just my memory, I was only planning to do that after being done with armor and weapons.
Right, thanks.
Benjamin Morgan
Anyone here play Echo, yet? I bought it yesterday and will download it later while I'm away because I forgot to set it to download before going to bed last night and my internet sucks so it will take at least a couple hours. The selling point of the game is that you have to fight copies of the player character that learn from your actions. youtube.com/watch?v=-KywPZHHB5Y
Brody Myers
Nah, I'm coordinating it with him. He's already done hundreds of the newest pages. The guy also does better job at both in-game research & datamining better than anyone else. He has these huge spreadsheets of various in-game data like you wouldn't believe.
The quality ranges are bit of a pickle to update since almost anything sans animal products can appear from level 1 to 30 qualities in some random loot table, and as you know Expedition will tweak the high end.
Isaac Fisher
Neat.
Caleb Walker
>Keys are shown visually on your character That's unironically my favorite part.
Lincoln Foster
In case the guy who asked for it yesterday missed it, I modded the Arkantos mod so that crows wouldn't explode in hell mode, Gary can still be recruited in Hell mode.
I think the best endings of Arkantos can only be gotten in Hell mode, so I recommend you say "yes" when Buzzo asks "Can you handle that" to activate that mode.
Also, I recommend you save Rando when you get to that part of Joyful. Enemies in Arkantos are a bit beefy and some of them like to stunlock, so having an extra guy on your team will help out. Gary's soup stun also goes well with Rando's fireball, since the stun can sometimes inflict the oily status effect too.
Yes.
If you have stealth, hacking, and lockpick, side with the Black Eels. They can give a secret route to depot A which also starts you off on the same screen as a computer you can hack which allows you to turn off the annoying auto turrets in that level.
>spoiler Your hacking needs to be pretty damn hight to gain level 3 access though. Higher than the level needed to open containers at that point in the game.
Nathan Gutierrez
I always managed to hack and disable the turrets. If you've been keeping your hacking as high as possible, but are too low level to hack the auto-turret disabling computer, it could be possible to get a level or two by going to South Gate Station, taking the elevator to the lower floor, and then exploring the various caves and other places that aren't blocked off by rubble. You can get glowy snout and tusk oddities down there from the pigs and warthogs, and probably some other useful oddities too.
Kevin Flores
Right, I'm doing initial scraping of oddities that have static placements inside the map files. It'll just be the name of the area it's in and a link to the map screenshot. You can improve on that later if you wish, even add screenshot for each oddity location if you're willing to go that far.
Julian Miller
Im surprised this actually released
Cooper Rodriguez
So I'm doing the fight against scrappers with black eels. I threw a molotov, only hit scrappers, and then one of the black eels went and stepped in it. And now I'm being shot by black eels.
Jacob Campbell
Yeah. They don't take kindly to people who put environmental hazards on their way.
I mean, how would you feel if you were walking and someone started a fire in front of you?
Jonathan Evans
What Rimworld mod has ceiling lights in different colors?
Brayden Sanchez
What happens if you kill all the scrappers singlehandedly then report to the Eels?
Nice digits, I'll give it a go later. No playthrough powerful enough to do it while also having the scrappers still alive at the moment, so it'll be a while.
Robert Diaz
Would like to play Underrail but apparently Im retarded. I made a psi character and the 2 rathounds in the caves kick my ass. What am I supposed to do? I only have one move that I tried spamming but they DPS me down before I can kill them both.
Im normally very good at games so this is throwing me for a loop. Im guessing I fucked up my build real bad but I dont see how. Any tips?
Jace White
There are two more spells you can learn while still level 1. Go find Bisson on level 1 and pay him to teach you Telekinetic Punch. The damage is good and it also stuns, so that's going to be useful. Then use it to help you kill a Rathound for Quinton and learn Cryokinesis too. It has fantastic range and unlike guns can't miss, and it also slows, so you can kite with it very well. Also you can attack them through fences where they can't attack back.
And then there's also the fire trick, but you shouldn't really need it.
Ian Davis
You can use ranged weapons and abilites thorugh the chain link fence, but rathounds can't open doors. If you close yourself on the other side, you can kill them while being 100% safe.
Sebastian Edwards
You can also set up bear traps at chokepoints, even with no skill points invested in traps.
Oliver Williams
>2 rathounds in the caves kick my ass How is that even possible? Are you naked? Just waiting multiple turns next to them?
James Brown
Pardon?
Levi Thompson
>Are you naked?
Isn't this the most common problem? Always wondered why some players forget to check their lockers.
Sebastian Scott
...
Samuel Phillips
> Always wondered why some players forget to check their lockers. There was that one guy who was shitting on the game because he got killed by the tutorial bots. Turned out he didn't notice the locker.
Logan Long
Wait, he's making a full game out of it?
Jackson Jackson
>Tooth and Tail >guy builds 3 farms right at the start >oh boy time for punishment >decide to wait to be greedy and use 3 lizard warrens instead of 2 >he put up bullet hives by the time i get there >lose the fight because bad focus >also saw that he was massing squirrels >sell all my warrens for chameleons >he lets me mass chameleons for some reason >it was because he was aggressively expanding >TIME FOR SPANKIES >decimate all his gristmills that he keeps trying to put up, can't even defend because the chameleons can't be hurt while they're retreating (there's no form of detection in this game, it's so good) >eventually he builds falcons, so i sell my lizards for falcons >his first farms go fallow >ez win
Wew. I love people that only think about their economy.
Chase Collins
Any long term benefit to handling the faceless peacefully at rail crossing? I think someone mentioned getting along with them later in the game.
Leo Flores
I killed all the ones at rail crossing, but helped the patrol near foundry and the guy in the cage and they still got along with me at that part of the game.
Jaxson Moore
If you antagonize them, they will return the favor.
Cooper Hall
>Words light up when you link them into a rule Very nice. Not sure if I want this or ESA2 more.
Landon Johnson
pummel: dodge and evasion reduced to zero oh god why
Jose Nelson
about to replay underrail in a bit, can I have some tips with base attributes and what to aim for in the first couple hourse? wanna play a psi-guy with hax/lockpicking
James Gomez
Don't get hit, duh.
Adrian James
>Gonna use a ship to kill some guy on another ship >Looting >This fucking thing What the fuck. I've never even found an Exceptional item yet.
Samuel Torres
That sounds like it could be pathetically useless or hilariously overpowered depending on the situation.
Liam Nguyen
Max will, high int, keep your psi skills maxed when you level up and buy new psi abilities as soon as you can. Should be smooth sailing. Int helps with hacking and dexterity with lockpicking. Consider 7 con for extra HP and Fast Metabolism feat if playing on hard. That's 5 skills out of 8 (or more) you can have, so there's plenty of points for something else. Recommend putting points into all crafting skills since it's always a good choice and your high int helps with that.
Aiden Hill
do I bother with guns and stealth?
Gabriel White
Stealth is always nice to have, especially if you like the stealth system. You don't need guns or any other weapons at all if you want to go full psi, it's really powerful, fun to play and gives you lot of control over the battlefield/enemies.
Adam Robinson
twenty bottles of mushroom brew the dude fucking abides
Jaxson Gutierrez
Best classic fetch quest ever.
Caleb Morris
So I think I started distributing points too broadly on my UnderRail character. Should I start off maxing out 8 skills to begin with and then mostly stick with those?
Jaxon Butler
That's what I almost always do, sometimes I have the 8th skill stop at a certain point and then start putting that into other skills.
Chase Phillips
Yeah, I think I'm gonna start over. Not too far in anyways.
Thomas Hill
Not necessarily, if you are still around level 5 or less it's nothing you can't correct if your attributes are fine. Also it would be good to see how you distributed them, it's completely possible that you've spread your points between skills that don't require maxing anyway. The 8 skill thing is a very general guideline for inexperienced players, I had builds that juggled points between 10-12 skills.
Liam Price
It's mostly the offense skills that I think I fucked up. Putting most points into guns but I went up to 15 in three of them and I don't really use them.
Hunter Wood
Yeah, if that's the case it's a pretty good reason to start over, especially if you are still early.
