Soo, I just finished Doki Doki Literature Club. Mainly because of people
calling it original/surprising/etc. I'll just go ahead and say it: in many ways, it's
pretty much a copy of a fairly well-known Japanese VN, so the gimmick of the
game went completely lost on me. It's basically an imitation of the said game,
and anyone who's read it will likely feel the same. However, as the majority of
you probably hasn't read it, it'll be... something new for you, I suppose.
I don't know if the author/creator had this Japanese game in mind when he
created DDLC, but to be honest, I feel like they have way too many things in
common for it to be a coincidence. To me, it feels highly unoriginal, and
because it's so very gimmicky, I can't respect the creators taking "inspiration"
from another game to this degree. Worth noting is that I really am not a fan of
the JP VN I've been mentioning, so there's that to take into account.
