Depends on how high you currently are and which you like playing more. If you're over 4k and you want to keep climbing NR would probably be the wisest move, but before 4k you could just play whatever you like. NR would climb a bit faster but it's no biggy.

I'm floating between 4.3 and 4.4k, trying to hit 4.5k. it feels like I'm playing an underpowered deck. every game I win is by a tiny margin and when I lose I lose big

He's won 1,378 games but only gone to rank 18 and monster is his least played faction with only 82 wins. That tells a story, user.
