How do you deal with losing on the stock market?

How do you deal with losing on the stock market?
I lost $4000 the past two weeks.

> lost $4000

U wHAT nIgGA ?!!!!!

Im down 20k in one year. I once lost 9k on a single day.

There are plenty of opportunities to make your money back, if youre eager enough.

I have realized that now and wont ever make big mistakes again.

happens to everyone, i'm about break even after losing around 18k€

It's 8% or so of my total invested amount.

Buy lepen and win it back

My strategy is very straightforward, I never lose.

It's a character building exercise. I lost $20,000 in one week and it never recovered (the stocks got delisted.) It didn't destroy me (and I was unemployed at the time!) and I'm better for it.
Still wish I had my $20k back.

1. Stop regretting. What's regret going to solve? Absolutely nothing.

2. Look back to those trades. Ask what made you take them in the first place. If you were using a strategy, this is where you ask if there was something wrong it.

3. Understand that this was bound to happen to you, and will keep on fucking happening to you. You gonna give up?

4. Start small again, and build back up. It's going to feel like complete shit, and you won't want to do it. But NEVER EVER regret anything. Regret never solves anything. Learn from the past, don't regret it.

How is being an idiot building character?

I've lost $10,000 day trading.
>How do you deal with it?
Not well. Seriously I still feel like shit about losing so much money.

How retarded do you have to be to lose money in a bull market?

Invest it all in milocoin

not that guy, but I learned humility and deal with loss a lot better since I lost a huge percentage of my net worth in a single trade. Ive made it back but I dont talk about gains to people anymore. I had bragged before, but when i lost I was disgusted by how unwilling I was to talk about it

I don't trade on the stockmarket.
I got my 401k just for the match.
All my other investments are in cryptos and physical specialty items (dont ask, you wont make money on it unless you were in the niche for years). Stock market is a boomer bailout machine

Why on earth would anyone sell after losing tens of thousands of dollars? By that point you've got nothing to lose by holding forever because you've already lost everything

user I have a PhD in sociology

cool

I felt bad at potentially losing 10$ today but not anymore, LOL. Thanks user

keep trading to make up the loss. If you can't, you can write it off $6k on your taxes meaning you didn't lost anything, you just reduced your taxes

>started investing with a net worth of 140k last february
>up to 220k in june
>went down to 105 by december
>back up to 185

and
>How do you deal with losing on the stock market?

being an alcoholic
>drown sorrows
>celebrate gains/no losses

I'm getting pretty close to a target where I can sell everything, and go detox in the tropics

I lost 83 bitcoin day trading in 3 months. I cant trade im only a degenerate gambler.

I now have 8 btc left and feel very sick.

Learn from your mistakes.

Heres some tips from a guy who is also in the red but is on a better path. I spent around 4 months day trading stocks when I first joined RobinHood.

"MSTX is only 7 cents! It HAS to go up from here."

I thought I could buy a stock at 7 cents, wait a day and sell at 8. I was very new.

IF I had held onto MSTX at 7 cents, over the course of the next several months, I wouldve made an easy 50% gain if I had sold at 13.

One of Warren Buffetts quotes is "If you wouldnt hold a stock for 10 years, dont even think about holding it for 10 minutes." This quote covers alot of helpful tips.

1.) The stock market is very volatile short term, and very profitable long term. Be prepared to wait.
2.) Do research on your stock before buying it. No, not Veeky Forums research. Actual news articles, learn the very basics of cash flow analysis, even if its just "Cash good debt bad".
3.) Invest in stocks that have been around a while and dont get discouraged or panic when their stock price drops a couple cents. If it was an attractive option at $2, its an even better buy at $1.50 and an Amazing buy at $1.00.
4.)Never give up. You cant make millions ten years from now if you give up after losing $1000.
5.) LEARN, LEARN, LEARN.

God..

Tis not for you

I'm glad I quit btc day trading after losing 0.2 btc. Now I only hold long term.

When I was in college, I lost $11,000 in FX trading and another $10,000 in the stock market.

You know what I did?

Bought $5000 worth of BTC when they were $45. I saw a thread on Veeky Forums and reddit, that's how my life has changed completely.

how has your life changed?

Nigga, can you even math?

He made $111,000 when bitcoin hit $1000

that's not life changing desu senpai

It is for some. Besides, 100k invested in a low cost equity fund would easily generate between 10-30k interest income a year. Enough for a comfy NEET life

Holy shit. How?

10%-30% returns...?

>One of Warren Buffetts quotes is "If you wouldnt hold a stock for 10 years, dont even think about holding it for 10 minutes."

This... Do your own primary research, look at their past financials, look at competitors, see what their earnings are gonna be and build your own model based on those informations, and your good to go!

>TFW I just dollarcost average the s&p500

Haha dumb fags. Enjoy your pennystocks.

how do you deal with throwing your early twenties away and accomplishing nothing in this critical time?

...

Better acomplishing nothing than being in debt

I lost 80+ btc from shorting dash shorting eth and okcasino futures

2017

>crypto currencies have a billion dollar market
>mass poverty
>mass debt
>wageslaves
>religion
>meme tier politicians
>meme coins
>wars over finance/oil/weapons

Can't wait to see how strange 2040 is going to be

What kind of FUCKING Losers are you to lose that much money in two weeks? THE MARKET HAS GONE UP NOT DOWN!

What is wrong with you people? What kind of fucked up shit are you investing in?

When i first started working in wall street i lost 200k in my first week (13years ago, >yfw tht was only in 2005) Im mexican n got hired because i worked my ass to get there, imagine ur face when u hear border-jumper pablito lost u 200k his first week there

Because tens of thousands might NOT be everything, and could turn into hundreds of thousands

kek you have many days of losing money in your future friendo

let me just go ahead and give you some advice: dont buy stocks that are $2.

>user I have a PhD in sociology

Then you know all about being an idiot.

Kek this.

Also Buy good shit.
Set a sell point.
Dont sell if red - in fact you should buy more.
Dont be a pussy.

Best stock trading plan ever

Lost $65,000 in 1 day, feels bad man. But smoking alot of weed and drinking, helps.

In other words, your appetite for risk has decreased...

i do it like this:
inveist 10k.
when value gets down. wait wait wait.
when lost all money search another hobby.
when value ist 15k sell for 5k.
set stop loses so you get atleast 5k out of the remaining 10k if everything crashes.
if all shit happens, you are back to 10k and can start over.
if good shit happens. cash out again a lil bit now and then. buy some more now and then.
Only important value ist the beginning 10k
after u earned some money and cashed out now and then u higher ur limit.
so lets say you have an overall value of 30k now,. set you new minimum value to 20k..
thats new 20k is the only value that matters for you now.. everything above it is not real profit yet, its just cheap workers which migh die..
and so on..
everytime you can higher that level you made real profit. dont forget to set new stop losses to hold that level.

That is literally the only reason I keep on living. My curiosity for the future is too strong. I wonder what 2060 or 70 is going to be like. I want ot witness this madness.

spat all over my phone, you made my day
