Why have Catholics historically been more left wing than Protestants in America?

Why have Catholics historically been more left wing than Protestants in America?

Because Protestants are stupid.

Catholics are in nature SJWs.
They like to hide that by pointing to poorer countries where you got more important matters to care about, but in any rich country you will Always find the Catholics to the left of the Protestants.

The prosperity gospel promotes greed and indifference

Why have poor minorities historically been more left wing than Anglo-Saxons in America?

I-i-it's that pope I tell ya!

Catholics are inherently traitors.
They would backstab their own nation in a heart beat, if the man in the vatican demands it.
Kulturkampf is the only valid option to be honest.

bu-but muh colonialism!

It's weird that this picture triggers so many /pol/acks

Why would you expect the leader of a universal church to correspond to your own white supremacist inclinations?

Cognitive dissonance

All the batshit insane protestants were deported to america.

I ain't no fortunate wife's son

Catholics aren't greedy and selfish like protestants.

Because they've traditionally been a lesser class in Protestant societies (and vice versa) so they're more likely to side with the leftists who supported them in order to gain more votes.

I think it's hilarious how this single act by the Pope undid 90% of the Catholic shills' progress on /pol/.

dog bless

Thank God. I wouldn't want any of them going around proclaiming to be Christian and spouting their stupid shit because 'loldeusvult'.

Are protestants more left wing in predominantly Catholic countries e.g. Spain?

lmao

They're pretty liberal even in predominantly Prod countries such as Germany, with Catholic Bavaria being conservative. It's more a class thing than anything I suppose.

>you will Always find the Catholics to the left of the Protestants.
*cough*

Charity, good works, etc.

Protestants believe that poor people are poor because they are sinful souls that are destined for hell and thus should be despised and disregarded. Hence their right-winged opinions.

Exception that proves the rule

There's no such thing. It's an exception that utterly trashes the rule.

Id expect him to know that Christianity is based on Europe and is tied to its civilization.
Instead of welcoming the death of Europe Christianity should be about exporting Christian/European beliefs and values

>implying UU is even a christian church

>I'd expect a South American to share my eurocentric world view and rascist tendencies

Hmm I can't seem to remember when Jesus said to preserve European culture by keeping out the non-whites

Because the Democrats were the party that took in the Catholics and made them an integral part of their voting machines. Republicans wanted to seal the border against Southern European immigration, e.g., Catholics. Obviously a Catholic isn't going to like it that you want to keep your wife and kids across the Atlantic. Since voter preferences are almost always due to upbringing, the children of Democrat leaning parents will become Democrat leaning. After one or two generations of this, you've basically secured yourself an entire bloc of people to your cause.

But he IS a euro. I mean yes he was born in South America, but he's not Mestizo or an Aztec or whatever.

Because America is STOOPID

Catholic universalism is socialism
Protestant elect are elitist

Not really. Unitarians are still more right-wing than many Catholics. They're just left by Protestant standards.

Remember that nearly every communist movement in Latin America is officially sanctioned by local clergy.

Christianity started in the Middle East, retard

Catholicism is a proto-newworldordite ideology.

Protestant work ethics.

t. the other Max

Communism is literally grounds for excommunication.

Pre-FDR Democrats really weren't anymore left-wing than the GOP at the time, both parties had (slightly different) left-wing factions. In the GOP, the prog faction was led by New England/Wisconsin mainline protestants.

Al Smith opposed the FDR and New Deal in the 30s.

By the 50s the Catholic vote was 50/50, thanks in no small part to Republican Catholic Joe McCarthy

>19th century liberalism is right wing meme
>Muh free markets

>associating religion with politics

Bullshit

catholics donĀ“t like laissez fare capitalism, they think not only the church but the state (the king) needs to care for the poor

Because Protestants invented capitalism.

This. Before conservatives pissed and moaned about Mexicans and Muslims they pissed and moaned about Irish, Italian, and German Catholics. Progressives rallied to their cause. People forget how big of a deal it was that Kennedy was our first Catholic president.

We care about society and justice, yes. Every decent man should. Protestantism has mostly forgotten about the Christian teachings of compassion.

>SJW
>leftist
>Implying identity politics is either left or right

This. See the Church's Social Doctrine.

you could have just posted "I don't know the definition of the word 'always'."

Christianity comes from the mid east dude.

"The protestants" imply Protestants as a group, not each and every single group.

Because you in general live in poorer countries, yes, just as I said.

Also, because most Catholics were in fear of being labelled as Monarchist supporters, so they took the most pro-democratic option.

they were a poor and oppressed minority for most of their existence in america, that tends to encourage left wing politics at least in economic terms no matter how socially conservative they were
