What happens if I disable the WoTC story content?
I want to restart my campaign but don't want to play through that really long skirmisher/reaper meet up mission again. Is it worth replaying it to get some story related missions later on?

You start with a random faction and have to contact the other two through covert ops.

It just gets rid of the intro mission with Mox and Elena. You get a random resistance hero in Gatecrashers and you find the rest like the Templars through covert ops. First Chosen is random and will show up on the first retaliation. If they ravage your asshole too hard just let them extract/kidnap some poor SOB and they will fuck off.

Why do posters auto appear on the second highest rank instead of the highest? Wouldn't the highest rank make more sense?

100% yes. No Long War yet, but the base game is great. I doubled my time in the game after buying the expansion in like, a week.

Well it's 40 bucks first off. Thanksgiving or Christmans, you might be able to find a deal that puts it down to around 30$.
But yeah, it adds more content than the expansion for XCOM1 and the content is all really good stuff, addresses lots of criticism the vanilla game had.

Zombies are actually the best implementation of that enemy type I've ever seen in a turn based game. Usually I fucking hate them since they are so boring to fight and 1 dimensional, but the mechanics for fighting the Lost are really good. Just make sure to get the mod that fixes a Dark Event that was making lost permanent.

the units themlselves are fairly basic, regular zombie, beffy zombie and fast zombie
but from a mechanical standpoint they are fun to deal with
especially when you already have regular aliens on the map then one of the bosses shows up then the zombies start attacking both sides
its a fun mess

The only conceivable reason to start without WotC would be if this is your first XCOM and you want a slightly less complex experience to learn the ropes.

I'd genuinely like some Hunter armour options as a mod. He's dressed smart.

Are there any costume or visual mods that doesn't break immersion? I only have CapnBubs right now and I don't really use it much aside from the berets. Ballcap is 10/10.

What breaks immersion in your eyes? If you're like me and you can't stand cosmetics that are recognizable from other games, or ones that break off too sharply from the art style of the game, I'm afraid there isn't much to dig into. I use CapnBubs, Stenchfury's stuff, the rage helmet, as well as minor stuff like glowing eyes and Alternate Prop Positions. All of this with Unlimited Customization.

All the XCOM armor ports, tier 1-3.
Wardens gear is technically just extreme tactical pouches on top of Tier 3 power armor.
Those seem like your best bets, since they are both just basically XCOM gear.
