I think Danganronpa's overarching problem right now is that there is no way to top it. It's run into the same problem that a lot of stories that incrementally add hype and twists does: power creep. Eventually, you raise the stakes so high, you forget to write good stories. I think Danganronpa, were it to continue, is in a serious need of a reboot, because you cannot increment on the concept much further without forgetting to write a good story.

It shouldn't exist. You definitely need some quiet time after chapter 5's conclusion, but V3 is not content with giving you a lot of quiet time. It's why, once again, DR1's chapter 6 is /sooooooooooo fucking goooood/: it gives you plenty of quiet time, plenty of time for you to fuck around and search for clues. It's so good.

I think the ending was pretty much their way of admitting that. It very obviously parodied long running franchises and showed that they could milk it forever but they'd just ruin it.
