well it's incompatible with most quest mods, and constantly out of compatiblity with even the basic stuff like survival mods, weapon mods, armor mods, and mods that add enemies. Even in the best place, the mod makes a LOT of questionable decisions with the gameplay (despite it doing some pretty neat stuff) that can ruin people's experience.

That's kinda the stuff I tend to think about, though it's still hard for me to get in character no matter what they're like. I tend to have vague ideas as to how they react to situations and feel about things but I also a lot of the time just have to base it off of the kind of decisions I would like to make.

I don't think character design is as strongly related to the story as you're making it out to be, but I can understand why you think that way.
