Anybody here have or wanted to start a business, if so how are things?

Working up some ideas for a business and i'm just curious if Veeky Forums does the same

Manufacture and sell dicks.

Currently learning about social media marketing, planning on contacting local businesses and show them how I can manage their social media for more sales.

i was thinking about starting a firewood selling business. There are a number of forests around me with Pine, Birch and Spruce trees.

I looked up the government regulations though and its insane.

>Government: you must apply for a permit!
>me: ok
>Government: that permit is only good for 4 trees! after 4 trees you must get another one!
>me: ok...
>Government: of those 4 trees, 2 must be dead standing trees
>me: but those are usually rotten as shit...
>Government: the permits cost $20 per permit, and you have to wait 7 days after each permit in granted to apply for another

so much for that idea

why not sell specialist wood chips

people pay a premium for smoke wood from specific trees

i thought about it but thats regulated as well.

>Government: you are NOT TO SELL THE FIREWOOD YOU CUT! only certified mills can do that!

sure, i could do it under the table, but i dont want to have to fucking do that and avoid the cops just for fucking wood

I've owned a couple businesses. Here's my advice: Unless you're inventing or marketing your own unique product, FIND A NICHE.

You can have 100 ideas and that's great, but if someone else is already doing it - whether it be locally or online - move on to the next one. Trust me. Competition is fucking brutal.

The key to success is find something nobody-the-fuck-else is doing and exploiting it. I've done it. I've also proceeded to fuck it up. So once you latch onto something STAY DILIGENT.

why don't you grow your own trees?
the sun and rain does all the work, and all you have to do is cut them down
protip: plant them nearby so you don't have to travel far

We'll ever green trees are really bad firewood so that was a poor plan anyway.

I'm an RN and planning to start a foot care independent nursing business in the next few months.. dont like my current job or coworkers and don't think I will ever feel free unless I can be my own boss

Been researching Amazon FBA... and alibaba for product. Holy shit is alibaba a hellhole when it comes to negotiating and asking for samples to review:
$5 sample -- they want $70 to ship it.. and not even across the ocean.

another example:
"This is our best price we can offer you." log into ebay... see that someone is selling it for less than my cost + free shipping.

what a war business is.

I want to make a software company. I'll handle the legal, accounting, management and marketing part.
I know i guy who'll do the programming heavy lifting.
We'll need more employees, but i want a 50/50 ownership split with him.

My dad spent 20 years creating a product, but only for himself. He had no desire to sell it.

I made a business plan and showed it to him in Dec 2015.
He shrugged his shoulders and gave me the product.

I joined a contest for this type of product. Won first place, got some snazzy prizes. Prominent industry guy came over to ask me some questions. Didn't want to network, but he's retired anyway.

Months pass and I don't do anything because I've got a full time job and I'm a 24 credit student.

One of my relatives runs a store. I ask them to sell my product. They say OK, since it already has an award winning reputation, but I need to package it.

I start working on packaging, but have a question. Relative breaks their leg and hasn't answered me since.

I'm not sure how to proceed. I have a really good award winning product, but my main contact just dropped off and regulations prevent me from selling it myself in my home state.

I unironically want to start a private military company and cheap arms manufacturer to serve the budding latin american market and BTFO street gangs
Maybe even south africa, shit's getting pretty hairy down there

I dare you to find one (1) thing that's wrong with this

>cheap arms manufacturer
Have fun competing with post communist countries and their military industrial complexes. Albania and Croatia donated shit loads of ammunition and ak 47s to "moderate rebels" in Syria on behalf of the US of course.
Serbia is equipping half the third world with guns, ammo, apcs and such.
Russian equipment covers the bulk of the Indian market.
Slovakia and Poland (tho adopting NATO standards) still have large production capabilities.
All of these countries will fucking stomp you out, especially with the backing of their respective governments.

Also, IIRC you can buy a dirty bomb on the Bulgarian black market.

What about the PMC part?
If i get in early enough could i serve the imminent SA race war market?
How about making money off the eternal drug war?

I think you can make it there, but it's risky (for your life as well).

Dumb.

I did it for several years. If I even missed a day, customers would bitch about "WHERE'S MY PRODUCT AT, I PAID YOU LAST NIGHT AND I KNOW IT'S THIS MORNING WHERE'S IT AT?"

Fuck eComm.

>trying to outdo Blackwater

Enjoy your untimely death

Those are all pretty shitty fire wood trees anyway.

wow so original

i want to sell software...whats a small desktop app everyone needs?

You want to sell it or develop it?

i can program but work full time so i would try to contract most of the work off of upwork or something

its for diabetics mostly and its an idea that already exists and many people are able to make a living at.. not dumb at all, thanks for your retarded feedback

My mom is very good at sewing clothes, pillows, blankets etc.

She only uses high quality materials and her stuff is literally top notch, she could sell that stuff for huge profits but she refuses to.

Feels bad man.

Bud, i sell firewood as a source of income...you wont make money if you follow the rules.

Well maybe if you clarified, I wouldn't have jumped to a quick conclusion.

Sell it for her.

>alibaba
Fuck, that place brings back nightmares. The Chinese can be some cruel bastards.

I'm sure you didn't listen to tai lopez, master scanner, to come up with that

m8 i work in logistics - what is your shitty idea

i just ended my first business recently.

it started on a high note, turned into a trainwreck, and then ended as a mild success

it took 2 weeks to get a tax ID, open a business bank account, get a website, design custom business cards, and make a facebook.

it took 8 months to get my first client and a week to get my 2nd. i ended up finding most of my work in a niche that i never even advertised for

Think theres any money to be made selling LGBTV Dinners, lads?

Fucking kek
